SHED REMOVAL IN RIO RANCHO

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Rio Rancho shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Rio Rancho requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Rio Rancho ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Rio Rancho asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Rio Rancho rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Not confirmed. Rio Rancho's permit forms list demolition as a type of work, but its permit pages don't say whether a shed teardown needs one. Ask the permit office at 505-891-5005.

City pickup

No. WM's carts refuse construction waste, and city code says construction debris must be removed by WM or hauled by the owner to a permitted landfill.

Haul it yourself

Rio Rancho Landfill (WM). Gate rates are not published. Residents of the host city with a current WM account get one free drop-off a month of up to 1,000 lbs., with a driver's license and recent WM bill.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Sandoval County. Anytime Junk says most jobs start around $85, College HUNKS loads run $99 to $699, and M&M Concrete charges $500 to $850 a load.

Do I need a permit?Rio Rancho demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Demolition permit: ask before you start

Rio Rancho's code adopts building codes that cover removal and demolition, and its building permit packet has a Demolition box, but the city's list of projects that need permits doesn't mention demolition. The city says it is always best to call the permit office at 505-891-5005 before any home project; the Building Division is at 505-891-5006.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

County landfill that lists construction and demolition waste among accepted materials, with no asbestos; buildings built before 1980 need a copy of an asbestos inspection document. What else should I know in Rio Rancho?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Only WM may haul demolition debris for someone else

Rio Rancho's solid waste chapter lets the city grant exclusive franchises, and WM runs the city's mandatory trash service. Code § 50.06 says no one but the authorized contractor may collect, transport or dispose of solid waste in the city, except the producer or property owner hauling their own. § 50.07 adds that whoever produces construction debris must arrange its removal with the contractor or haul it personally to a state-permitted landfill. The code doesn't name junk removal companies, but its wording leaves out anyone who isn't WM or the owner.

Two landfills inside the city

Rio Rancho has both WM's landfill on Carpenter Street and the Sandoval County Landfill on Iris Road within city limits, and both take construction and demolition debris. WM gives residents with a current WM account one free drop-off a month, up to 1,000 lbs., with a driver's license and a recent WM bill; commercial waste isn't accepted under that benefit.

Asbestos goes through the state, not Albuquerque

Albuquerque's air program covers only Bernalillo County, so Rio Rancho falls to the New Mexico Environment Department's Air Quality Bureau. Its page says the bureau generally must be notified of all demolitions, whether or not asbestos is present, with a survey by a qualified professional. Separately, the Sandoval County Landfill wants an asbestos inspection document for demolition waste from buildings built before 1980.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Rio Rancho?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Sandoval County, lower if it's already taken apart. Anytime Junk Removal says most local jobs start around $85, College HUNKS shows loads from $99 to $699, and M&M Concrete lists $500 to $850 for a load of debris. None of those three is a shed price.

Can I take the pieces to the landfill for free?

Often, if you have WM service. The WM landfill at 1132 Carpenter St. NE takes construction and demolition debris and gives Rio Rancho residents with a WM account one free load a month up to 1,000 lbs.; heavier loads pay the gate rate. Otherwise, the Sandoval County Landfill on Iris Road charges $6 for a bed-level pickup and $35 a ton for trailers.

Where can a metal shed go?

Rio Rancho Recycling, an Acme Iron & Metal yard at 110 Frontage Road, buys scrap metal, including tin, sheet aluminum and structural steel. Acme refuses wood, concrete and asbestos, so strip the panels first. Winter hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

What about the concrete pad?

Junk Out ABQ treats slab removal as a separate service. M&M Concrete, based in Rio Rancho, breaks and loads concrete at $2 to $6 per sq ft. The Sandoval County Landfill takes concrete at $35 a ton but refuses pieces larger than 3 feet and metal-frame demolition with concrete attached.

My shed has power. What changes?

Have the circuit disconnected before demolition. Junk Out ABQ won't remove structures tied into a home's electrical system. Rio Rancho requires electrical permits for wiring work, so ask the permit office at 505-891-5005 whether ending a shed circuit needs one.

I'm putting up a new shed. Does it need a permit?

Yes, either way. A shed of 120 sq ft or less uses the city's shed permit, which costs $10 and is usually approved while you wait. A secondary structure over 121 sq ft needs a full building permit with plans.
