SHED REMOVAL IN GEORGETOWN

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Georgetown shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Georgetown requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Georgetown ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Georgetown asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Georgetown rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Not confirmed: Building Inspection issues residential demolition permits for $52 and requires an asbestos report, but doesn't say whether a small shed needs one. Call (502) 863-9802.

City pickup

No. Republic picks up one bulk item a week, but it can't take construction debris like brick, concrete or shingles.

Haul it yourself

Rumpke Transfer Station (Georgetown). Free with a Scott County household voucher, up to four loads a year; extra charges may apply for heavy construction debris. Rates for other loads aren't published.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: Crown Clearing lists $500 to $900 for a small shed and up to $1,800 for a large one; LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 in Scott County. Others quote on site.

Do I need a permit?Georgetown demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Demolition permit from Georgetown/Scott County Building Inspection

The office has a residential demolition permit application, and its October 2026 fee schedule lists demolition at $52. The application asks for the structure's size and foundation, whether it's on sewer or septic, and the owner's or contractor's insurance and workers' comp. Starting work without a permit doubles the fee. The schedule's exemption for one-story detached sheds of 200 square feet or less applies to building permits; nothing says it covers demolition.

03

Digging out posts or a slab

Call Kentucky 811 before you dig out piers, posts or a slab.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

What else should I know in Georgetown?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Republic holds the City's exclusive trash franchise

Georgetown code makes it unlawful for anyone but the exclusive franchisee to use City streets to collect and haul away garbage, trash, refuse and recyclables from homes and businesses, with fines of $200 to $500 per act. The City's franchisee is Republic Services. Services the franchise doesn't cover are allowed if the hauler follows the rest of the article, and companies that collect from dumpsters must get a non-exclusive franchise and pay the City 10% of gross revenue. The ordinance doesn't say whether hauling debris from a shed teardown counts as 'trash' under the franchise.

Four free transfer station loads a year for residents

Scott County, Georgetown and Rumpke give each Scott County household four vouchers a year to dump a pickup bed or single-axle trailer load at the Rumpke Transfer Station on West Yusen Drive. Heavy construction debris like shingles and concrete may cost extra, loads must be tarped, and the program isn't for contractors or commercial vehicles.

Haulers register with the county each year

State rule 401 KAR 49:080 says each solid waste collector and recycler must register and report by February 1 each year to the county where it provides service. It doesn't say whether a crew hauling its own teardown debris counts.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.
