SHED REMOVAL IN CRANSTON

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Cranston shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Cranston requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Cranston ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Cranston asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Cranston rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes. Cranston says permits are required to remove or demolish a structure. State code lists only one-story sheds of 64 sq ft or less as exempt. The fee is based on demolition value, $75 minimum.

City pickup

No. Bulky waste is the owner's job: Waste Management charges $30 per item, and the City's bulky rules exclude construction debris.

Haul it yourself

Rhode Island Resource Recovery (Central Landfill campus), Residential Recycling Area. Individual residents pay the commercial gate rate: $115 a ton with a $65 minimum for trash and C&D. Clean concrete, asphalt, brick and rock is $20 a ton; scrap metal is free. A surcharge applies to beams or poles over 4 feet, and a $6 host community fee may apply per vehicle.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Providence County. Clark's Junk Removal shows general volume pricing from a $150 minimum pickup; the others quote after photos or a visit.

Do I need a permit?Cranston demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

A shed teardown needs a demolition permit

Cranston's Building Inspection office says permits are required to construct, enlarge, alter, remove or demolish a structure under the Rhode Island State Building Code, and the state's residential code says the same. The state lists one-story detached accessory structures of 64 square feet or less as exempt, without saying whether that covers teardown. Cranston prices a demolition permit on its demolition value at $20 per $1,000 up to $10,000, with a $75 minimum, plus a small state levy. Working without a permit costs $500 on top of the regular fee.

02

Asbestos rules and what the landfill refuses

Rhode Island's asbestos licensing and abatement-plan rules don't apply to private residences (one- and two-family homes and similar). For regulated buildings, licensed contractors file a start-work notice at least 10 working days ahead. Resource Recovery rejects any load containing asbestos waste, and J.R. Vinagro takes no asbestos of any kind, so old cement-board siding or roofing needs its own plan.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Rhode Island Resource Recovery (Central Landfill campus), Residential Recycling Area

3 Shun Pike, Johnston, RI 02919

The state's landfill campus takes construction and demolition debris from all customers, including painted and treated wood, roofing shingles, non-asbestos insulation and incidental wiring and metal. C&D is landfilled and charged as trash. Concrete, brick and rock free of debris, and 100% metal scrap, are taken separately. Loads with any asbestos waste or fuel tanks are rejected.

Fees: Individual residents pay the commercial gate rate: $115 a ton with a $65 minimum for trash and C&D. Clean concrete, asphalt, brick and rock is $20 a ton; scrap metal is free. A surcharge applies to beams or poles over 4 feet, and a $6 host community fee may apply per vehicle.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., and Saturday, 6 a.m. to noon. Stop at the scalehouse first; separate wood debris, metal and concrete on arrival, or a mixed load is charged at the higher rate. Scalehouse: 401-228-3102.

116 Shun Pike, Johnston, RI 02919

A construction and demolition processing facility that takes residential construction debris, commercial building debris, roofing shingles and cleanout debris for recycling. It doesn't take hazardous materials, asbestos, liquids, wood with lead paint, paint cans or fluorescent bulbs.

126 Front Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860

What else should I know in Cranston?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Haulers need a City Council license; no exclusive franchise found

Cranston code says anyone in the business of collecting and hauling solid waste in the city must be licensed by the City Council, in line with state solid waste rules. Licenses run July 1 to June 30 and cost $100 a year for two vehicles or less. The code doesn't say whether a crew hauling one shed's debris counts, and no rule giving one company exclusive rights to demolition debris was found.

Oak Lawn Village is a local historic district

Cranston's code designates Oak Lawn Village as a local historic district and defines structures to include outbuildings. Before removal or demolition that affects the exterior of a structure or its appurtenances there, the owner needs a certificate of appropriateness from the Historic District Commission. Ask the Planning Department at (401) 780-3222, or check the City's GIS map.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Cranston?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Providence County, lower if it's already taken apart. Clark's Junk Removal gives a flat written quote from photos and lists general pricing from a $150 minimum pickup; Sivo & Sons, Powerhouse and MyTrashRemoval.com offer free estimates.

Where can I take the debris myself?

Resource Recovery's Residential Recycling Area at 3 Shun Pike in Johnston takes C&D debris, charged as trash at the commercial gate rate: $115 a ton with a $65 minimum. It's open weekdays 6 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and Saturday mornings. Cut beams under 4 feet to avoid a handling surcharge. J.R. Vinagro's C&D yard on Shun Pike also takes residential construction debris; its prices aren't posted.

What about a metal shed?

Cranston's Highway garage on Phenix Avenue takes tires, e-waste and motor oil, not scrap metal. Resource Recovery takes 100% metal scrap free, and Berger Recycling at 126 Front Street in Pawtucket buys scrap metal; call 401-723-7240 for prices.

Can the slab or footings go too?

Clean concrete, brick and rock costs $20 a ton at Resource Recovery, but concrete mixed into a debris load is charged as trash. Clark's leaves a swept slab by default and quotes slab removal separately. Call Dig Safe at 811 or 888-344-7233 before digging out posts or footings.

Where do old paint, gas and chemicals go?

Not in the curbside carts. Cranston sends household hazardous waste such as paint, pesticides and old gas grill tanks to Resource Recovery's Eco-Depot; call 401-942-1430 x241. Used motor oil, up to 10 gallons, goes to the oil igloo at 929 Phenix Avenue on weekdays.
