SHED REMOVAL IN WARWICK

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Warwick shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Warwick requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Warwick ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Warwick asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Warwick rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes. Rhode Island's residential code requires a permit to demolish a structure; only one-story sheds of 64 sq ft or less are listed as exempt. Warwick's code sets a $75 demolition fee.

City pickup

No. Bulky pickup is limited to three items by appointment, and since July 2023 it no longer takes construction debris such as roof shingles, sheetrock or insulation.

Haul it yourself

Warwick Recycling Drop-Off Facility. No fee is listed.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Kent County. Clark's Junk Removal shows general volume pricing from a $150 minimum pickup; the others quote after photos or a visit.

Do I need a permit?Warwick demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

A shed teardown needs a demolition permit

Rhode Island's one- and two-family code, based on the 2021 IRC, says anyone who intends to demolish a building or structure must first apply for a permit. The state's exempt list includes one-story detached accessory structures of 64 square feet or less, without saying whether that covers teardown. Warwick's fee code lists demolitions at $75 and charges $250 or $500 for late applications. The Building Department is in the Sawtooth Annex Building, 65 Centerville Road; call 401-738-2007.

02

Asbestos rules and what the landfill refuses

Rhode Island's asbestos licensing and abatement-plan rules don't apply to private residences (one- and two-family homes and similar). For regulated buildings, licensed contractors file a start-work notice at least 10 working days ahead. Resource Recovery rejects any load containing asbestos waste, and J.R. Vinagro takes no asbestos of any kind, so suspect siding or roofing needs its own plan.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Warwick pick up shed debris?

Not a whole shed. Warwick's bulky collection is by appointment and limited to three items, such as couches, carpets or painted wood. Since July 1, 2023, it hasn't taken construction debris like sheetrock, plaster, roof shingles or insulation. Clean lumber and metal can go to the City's drop-off on Range Road; the rest needs a removal company, a dumpster or a trip to Johnston.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Warwick Recycling Drop-Off Facility

111 Range Road (behind the Mickey Stevens Sports Complex), Warwick, RI 02889

The City's recycling drop-off takes scrap metal of all types except gas, oil and propane tanks and chain-link fence, plus unpainted, unstained wood. It refuses painted, stained or pressure-treated wood, plywood and particle board, and allows no trash. City code limits city facilities to waste from residential use.

Fees: No fee is listed.

Before you go: Open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Saturday from April to December; closed Saturdays from January to March. Bring metal panels and clean, unpainted lumber separated from other debris.

Rhode Island Resource Recovery (Central Landfill campus), Residential Recycling Area

3 Shun Pike, Johnston, RI 02919

The state's landfill campus takes construction and demolition debris from all customers, including painted and treated wood, roofing shingles, non-asbestos insulation and incidental wiring and metal. C&D is landfilled and charged as trash. Concrete, brick and rock free of debris, and 100% metal scrap, are taken separately. Loads with any asbestos waste or fuel tanks are rejected.

Fees: Individual residents pay the commercial gate rate: $115 a ton with a $65 minimum for trash and C&D. Clean concrete, asphalt, brick and rock is $20 a ton; scrap metal is free. A surcharge applies to beams or poles over 4 feet, and a $6 host community fee may apply per vehicle.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., and Saturday, 6 a.m. to noon. Stop at the scalehouse first; separate wood debris, metal and concrete on arrival, or a mixed load is charged at the higher rate. Scalehouse: 401-228-3102.

J.R. Vinagro C&D Recycling facility

116 Shun Pike, Johnston, RI 02919

A construction and demolition processing facility that takes residential construction debris, commercial building debris, roofing shingles and cleanout debris for recycling. It doesn't take hazardous materials, asbestos, liquids, wood with lead paint, paint cans or fluorescent bulbs.

Fees: Not published.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 7 a.m. to noon. Call 401-943-7100 (option 3) to ask about prices and homeowner loads.

What else should I know in Warwick?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Haulers need a city license; no exclusive franchise found

Warwick code says no one may collect garbage, debris, rubbish or waste of any kind without a license from the Director of Public Works, and anyone in the business of hauling solid waste in the city must be licensed. The fee is $50 a year for two vehicles or less. The rule doesn't apply to someone hauling waste they produced in their own vehicle, so a homeowner taking their own shed to the dump is outside it. Licensed collectors can't work between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. No rule giving one company exclusive rights to demolition debris was found.

Bulky pickup takes some painted wood, but not roofing

Warwick's bulky collection is by appointment and limited to three items, and its list includes painted or stained wood alongside couches and tables. Since July 1, 2023, the Sanitation Department no longer collects construction debris such as sheetrock, plaster, roof shingles and insulation. That leaves out a shed's roof and makes a whole shed far more than three items.

Three historic villages review shed demolition

Pawtuxet, Apponaug and Pontiac villages are Warwick's local historic districts. The Historic District Commission says that removal or demolition affecting the exterior of a structure or its appurtenances, sheds included, starts with a building permit application, which sends the project to the commission. Zoning code requires a certificate of appropriateness before the permit is issued. Staff: 401-921-9568.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Warwick?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Kent County, lower if it's already taken apart. Clark's Junk Removal gives a flat written quote from photos and lists general pricing from a $150 minimum pickup; Sivo & Sons, Powerhouse and MyTrashRemoval.com offer free estimates.

Where does the rest of the debris go?

Shingles, painted siding, plywood and mixed debris can go to Resource Recovery's Residential Recycling Area at 3 Shun Pike in Johnston, charged as trash at $115 a ton with a $65 minimum; cut beams under 4 feet to avoid a handling surcharge. J.R. Vinagro's C&D yard on Shun Pike also takes residential construction debris; its prices aren't posted.

Is my shed in a historic district?

Only if it's in Pawtuxet, Apponaug or Pontiac village. Warwick's Historic District Commission posts a map for each district; if your lot is inside one, a shed teardown goes to the commission through the building permit.

Can the slab or footings go too?

Clean concrete, brick and rock costs $20 a ton at Resource Recovery, but concrete mixed into a debris load is charged as trash. Clark's leaves a swept slab by default and quotes slab removal separately. Call Dig Safe at 811 or 888-344-7233 before digging out posts or footings.

Where do old paint, gas and chemicals go?

Not to the City drop-off, which allows no trash. Warwick points residents to the free Eco-Depot at Resource Recovery in Johnston, by appointment. Used motor oil and filters go to the oil igloo at Public Works, 111 Range Road, weekdays 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
