SHED REMOVAL IN ALABASTER

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Alabaster shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Alabaster requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Alabaster ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Alabaster asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Alabaster rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes. Alabaster issues a demolition permit for razing any building or structure. The fee is 0.85% of job cost ($50 minimum) plus a $50 issuance fee; call (205) 664-6823.

City pickup

No. Alabaster won't pick up construction refuse from demolition, even if the homeowner made it; the City says to hire a commercial hauler it licenses.

Haul it yourself

Shelby County Landfill. C&D waste is $30 a ton from inside Shelby County and $45 a ton from outside it. A pickup truck loaded no higher than the cab is $14; a car, van or SUV is $10. Rates effective Oct. 1, 2023, including the state's $1-a-ton fee.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Shelby County. J&F Haul and Deliver lists $875 for a full load of construction debris, with a shed demolition as its example; others give free quotes.

Do I need a permit?Alabaster demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

A demolition permit comes first

Alabaster's permit handbook says a demolition permit covers the razing of any building or structure in the city, and before it is issued the contractor in charge must sign a letter that all utilities have been properly terminated and made safe. Permits are applied for through the City's LAMA portal. Applicants must be contractors licensed to do business in Alabaster or owners acting as their own contractor.

02

Keep demolition debris contained

City code makes it unlawful for an owner, agent or contractor to let litter build up before, during or after a demolition project, and requires on-site receptacles for loose debris and scrap building materials unless they are hauled off daily.

03

Check a contractor's state license

The City's homeowner guide says to check that a contractor holds a State of Alabama license and to beware of anyone willing to work without permits. Only licensed electricians may do electrical work, so a shed with wiring needs one to disconnect the circuit.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Alabaster pick up shed debris?

No. The City won't pick up construction refuse from major renovation, repair or demolition, including refuse the homeowner created, and debris left by any paid contractor won't be serviced. Shed contents like old furniture can go out on the junk and rubbish day, the first Monday of each month: sign up online for one of 100 monthly slots, keep the pile under 10 cubic yards and items under 300 pounds and 10 feet long. Call Public Works at 205-664-6810 with questions.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; closed Sunday and major holidays.

What else should I know in Alabaster?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Hire a City-licensed hauler for demolition debris

The City runs its own garbage service, and its junk rules say construction refuse from demolition won't be picked up; owners may hire commercial haulers licensed by the City. City code also tells residents to hire private contract haulers licensed by the City for big cleanups. No exclusive franchise for demolition debris was found, though the code mentions a 'franchised hauler' for appliances. Any business doing service work in Alabaster needs a City business license.

Shelby County's landfill is close and has free days

Alabaster sits in Shelby County, and the County's Highway 70 landfill between Calera and Columbiana takes construction and demolition waste at the in-county rate. The County holds two free days a year for Shelby County residents; in 2026 they were March 28 and October 3, and Alabaster schedules two extra junk pickups to match them. Since May 1, 2026, anyone entering the C&D working cell must wear a hard hat and safety vest.

Contractor trucks must be lettered

Alabaster requires every contractor and subcontractor working in the city to put the firm's name and phone number on both sides of each vehicle, in letters at least two inches high.

Asbestos rules come from the state

In Shelby County, the state's ADEM handles asbestos demolition notices; Jefferson County runs its own program. ADEM's form says privately owned homes of four or fewer units are exempt from the asbestos rules but must still follow disposal rules, so old cement-board siding or shingles still need proper disposal.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.
