SHED REMOVAL IN HOOVER

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Hoover shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Hoover requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Hoover ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Hoover asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Hoover rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Not confirmed: Hoover Building Inspections issues demolition permits and its residential application lists Clearing & Grading/Demo, but no shed rule is published. Fees start at $60 plus $20; call 205-444-7522.

City pickup

No. Hoover's trash page says construction debris is for the contractor to remove, and only homeowner-generated materials should be scheduled for bulk pickup.

Haul it yourself

Shelby County Landfill. C&D waste is $30 a ton from inside Shelby County and $45 a ton from outside it. A pickup truck loaded no higher than the cab is $14; a car, van or SUV is $10. Rates effective Oct. 1, 2023, including the state's $1-a-ton fee.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Jefferson County. J&F Haul and Deliver lists $875 for a full load of construction debris, with a shed demolition as its example; others quote free.

Do I need a permit?Hoover demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Permits come from Building Inspections

Hoover's Building Inspections Department issues permits for building, demolition and other work, and its FAQ says a building permit is needed for accessory structures and for any job costing $1,000 or more. The residential application has a box for clearing, grading and demolition. City code charges $60 for work up to $1,000, then $9 per additional $1,000, and a $20 fee has been added to each residential permit since April 1, 2026. Pay in person by check or card.

03

Big debris goes in a roll-off or with the crew

Hoover's trash rules say a roll-off dumpster should be used for construction or renovation projects that create a lot of debris, and that construction debris is to be removed by the contractor who did the work.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Hoover pick up shed debris?

No. Hoover's trash page says landscaping and construction debris is to be removed by the contractor performing the work, and Amwaste won't take large amounts of construction debris such as blocks, bricks, concrete or tile. Old furniture, appliances and other homeowner-generated items from inside the shed can go to bulk pickup: request it through MyHooverConnect, and large piles are collected within 10 days.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

What else should I know in Hoover?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

No franchised hauler for shed debris; crews need a Hoover license

Amwaste is the City's garbage provider for household trash and bulk pickup, but Hoover's trash page leaves construction debris to the contractor doing the work. No franchise for demolition debris was found. What Hoover does require is licensing: all general contractors and subcontractors need a City of Hoover license plus any state license, and the City's license schedule lists a garbage collection contractor license at $300 a year and a general contractor license at $100.

Two counties, two asbestos offices

Hoover sits in both Jefferson and Shelby counties. In the Jefferson County part, the County Department of Health requires an asbestos inspection before any demolition; call (205) 930-1276. Elsewhere in Alabama the state's ADEM handles notices, and its form says privately owned homes of four or fewer units are exempt from the asbestos rules but must still follow disposal rules.

HOA and architectural approval

Hoover's permit page asks for ARC or HOA approval, if required, with common permits such as fences, decks and pools, and says some subdivisions are architecturally controlled. Ask your HOA before the shed comes down, and call Building Inspections at 205-444-7586 to learn whether your subdivision is on the list.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.
