SHED REMOVAL IN JOHNS CREEK

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Johns Creek shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Johns Creek requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Johns Creek ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Johns Creek asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Johns Creek rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes. The City's permit checklist lists demolition of structures as needing a permit. The no-permit rule for small prefab sheds covers placing one, not tearing it down. Call 678-512-3250.

City pickup

No city service. Your private hauler must offer one bulky pickup a month, but the City's bulky trash examples are furniture and appliances, not lumber. Ask your hauler.

Haul it yourself

Cobb County Transfer Station (GFL Environmental). Out-of-county residents: $70 a ton, $70 minimum. Cobb County residents: $14 for the first 400 pounds, then 3 cents a pound. A valid Georgia driver's license is the only accepted proof of residence.

What it costs

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Fulton County. The other listed companies quote after seeing the shed or photos.

Do I need a permit?Johns Creek demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

A demolition permit is required

City code says anyone who wants to demolish a building or structure must first apply to the building official and get a permit. The City's Do I Need a Permit? checklist puts demolition of structures in the permit column. The same checklist lets a prefabricated shed up to 120 square feet go in without a permit if it's anchored and inside the setbacks, while a stick-built shed of any size needs one; neither line is about removal. Permits must be in hand before work starts.

04

Digging out posts or a slab

Contact Georgia 811 before digging out piers, posts or a concrete slab, so buried lines are marked first.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Johns Creek pick up shed debris?

Not as a City service. Johns Creek has no City trash collection; residents contract with a private hauler registered with the City. Each hauler must offer a basic level of service that includes a monthly bulky trash pickup, but the City doesn't list what counts beyond its examples of appliances, mattresses, chairs, furniture and tires. Lumber, roofing and concrete from a shed aren't named, so ask your hauler before setting them out.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Cobb County Transfer Station (GFL Environmental)

1897 County Services Parkway, Marietta, GA 30008

Seminole Road Landfill (DeKalb County)

4203 Clevemont Road, Ellenwood, GA 30294

DeKalb County's public landfill. The County lists it as a self-haul option with pay-by-weight pricing and says construction materials are accepted. Its pages don't say whether non-DeKalb residents pay the same rates.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 404-687-4040 to confirm non-resident access before you go.

Roswell Transfer Station

1810 Hembree Road, Alpharetta, GA 30009

City-run transfer station. Construction and demolition material, including lumber, siding, decks, wood fences, pallets and concrete in pieces under 50 pounds, is taken from city residents only. Non-residents may bring only non-construction items such as bagged trash and furniture. Metal, appliances, paint, propane tanks and yard waste are not accepted. Roofing shingles aren't on the list, so ask first.

Fees: Construction and demolition material: $100 a ton, residents only, with proof of residence. Non-residents pay $3 a bag of trash and $10 to $20 per furniture item.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. For anything not on the list, call the solid waste services manager, Nick Pezzello, at (770) 594-6512 before you go.

What else should I know in Johns Creek?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Every waste hauler, even for a one-time job, must register with the City

Johns Creek has no single franchised hauler, but its code says no one may collect or dispose of solid waste in the city without a signed agreement with the City. The code's definition of a hauler covers one-time jobs as well as regular service, and a separate 'junk hauler' definition covers on-demand pickup of items from cleaning out or remodeling homes. Registered haulers carry City decals, report tonnage quarterly, post a performance bond and carry set insurance. The code doesn't say whether a crew hauling its own demolition debris, or a homeowner hauling their own, counts as a hauler.

You pick your own trash company

The City doesn't collect trash. Residents sign up with one of the private haulers registered with the City, which posts their base rates but doesn't set prices. The City's minimum residential service includes one bulky trash pickup a month; the code's bulky trash examples are appliances, mattresses, chairs, furniture and tires.

Bulky Items Recycling Day and the fall chemical drop-off

Each summer the City holds a Bulky Items Recycling Day at City Hall, 11360 Lakefield Drive, for things curbside haulers don't take, such as grills, large appliances, lawn furniture and bicycles; pre-register through Keep North Fulton Beautiful. Each fall it holds a collection event for paint and household chemicals, including gasoline, pesticides and propane tanks.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Johns Creek?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp's Johns Creek shed page shows $94 to $1,559 for Fulton County, lower for a shed that's already taken apart. Joseph's Junk Removal prices by truck space, with a full truckload at $400 to $600. Breezeway Disposal quotes from photos.

What does the demolition permit cost?

The City's fee schedule charges 5% of $6.50 per $1,000 of the job's value for demolishing a structure, with a $400 minimum, plus a $50 administration fee on every permit. Starting work without a required permit doubles the total permit fees.

Where can I take shed lumber and shingles myself?

Johns Creek has no City drop-off for construction debris, and the nearby Roswell Transfer Station takes it from Roswell residents only. The Cobb County Transfer Station in Marietta is open to the public and charges out-of-county customers $70 a ton. DeKalb County's Seminole Road Landfill lists construction material at $99.80 a ton.

Where does a metal shed go?

No City scrap metal drop-off is listed. The Cobb County Transfer Station lists aluminum scrap among the items it takes. The summer Bulky Items Recycling Day takes grills and large appliances, but shed panels aren't on its list, so ask first.

Does an old shed need an asbestos check?

Georgia EPD says owners of homes with four or fewer dwelling units are exempt from its demolition notice unless the work is part of a larger project. Removing 10 square feet or more of friable asbestos is a different matter and needs a licensed abatement contractor and a notice 10 business days ahead. Call EPD at (404) 363-7026 with questions.
