SHED REMOVAL IN BOISE

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Boise shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Boise requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Boise ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Boise asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Boise rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes, for a shed over 200 square feet. Boise's permit guide lists demolishing a detached shed that size. In a historic district, demolishing any accessory building also needs a Certificate of Appropriateness.

City pickup

Not confirmed: Republic's free bulky pickup takes six large items a year, like furniture and appliances. City code treats lumber and concrete as construction and demolition waste, which is hauled separately.

Haul it yourself

Ada County Landfill. General trash: $15 minimum (up to 1,035 lbs.), then $34 a ton as of October 1, 2026. Some hard-to-handle items may add $50 a ton. Asbestos: $50 a ton plus a $50 certification fee.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Ada County. Full House Junk Removal prices by truck space and confirms on site; We Haul Boise gives free estimates.

Do I need a permit?Boise demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

A demolition permit for sheds over 200 square feet

Boise's residential guide lists demolishing a detached garage or shed over 200 square feet among jobs that need a permit, and says a shed of 200 square feet or less needs no building permit (unless it sits in a floodplain). The residential demolition application (#414) also asks for an Idaho contractor registration number or a homeowner exemption, and adds an erosion and sediment control permit if the job disturbs 2 cubic yards of soil or more. Fees follow the building fee table, which starts at $26.37 for the first $500 of project value. Permit counter: (208) 608-7070.

03

Asbestos notice for demolitions

Idaho DEQ says all demolition projects require the federal Asbestos NESHAP 10-day notification form, postmarked or delivered 10 working days before work starts. For nonmajor facilities such as public, commercial and institutional buildings, the form goes to EPA Region 10. DEQ does not say how this applies to a backyard shed at a home.

04

Call 811 before pulling posts or footings

Digging out piers, posts or anchors is excavation. Idaho law requires notice through DigLine 811 at least 2 business days, and no more than 10, before you dig. Utilities mark their lines for free.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Boise pick up shed debris?

Not confirmed. Boise trash customers get up to six free bulky items a year from Republic Services, by request at (208) 345-1266; the City's examples are furniture, appliances and items like a swing set or grill. Boise code defines bulky waste as large items such as appliances and furniture, and lists lumber, concrete and drywall under construction and demolition waste instead. Asbestos is never accepted. For a bigger job, a roll-off container rented for less than 90 days can come from any provider, while a 3 to 8 yard on-call dumpster must come from Republic.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Ada County Landfill

10300 N. Seamans Gulch Rd., Boise, ID 83714

The county landfill takes waste generated in Ada County and weighs every load. Its recovery and diversion area takes clean, unpainted lumber, pallets and plywood, clean concrete and asphalt rubble, and items that are mostly metal. Asbestos is accepted by appointment under its receiving procedures.

Fees: General trash: $15 minimum (up to 1,035 lbs.), then $34 a ton as of October 1, 2026. Some hard-to-handle items may add $50 a ton. Asbestos: $50 a ton plus a $50 certification fee.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; closed Sundays. Every load must be secured or covered. Questions: (208) 577-4725.

Diamond Street Recycling

5800 W. Diamond St., Boise, ID 83705

Recycling yard that takes pallets, clean wood and lumber, brush, fill dirt and clean asphalt. It does not accept concrete, bricks or large rocks, or loads that mix dirt and wood, and it may turn a load away.

Fees: Pallets, clean wood and lumber: $10 per cubic yard. Clean asphalt: $6 per pickup or small trailer.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call ahead to confirm it can take your load: (208) 322-3050; its site says to use (208) 322-0900 while its phone line is down.

Pacific Steel & Recycling (scrap metal)

5120 Emerald St., Boise, ID 83706

Employee-owned scrap yard that buys almost all kinds of scrap metal, including steel, aluminum, copper and brass. Bring stripped metal panels and framing; wood and plastic are not listed.

Fees: Pays for scrap metal rather than charging; prices are not posted.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon. Call (208) 375-2131 for current prices.

What else should I know in Boise?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Only franchised or city-permitted haulers may haul construction debris

Boise City Code 10-4-4-2 says anyone who collects trash or recycling in the city needs a franchise agreement, and haulers of construction and demolition waste must hold a current permit from Planning and Development Services in their name. Permitted haulers may only haul for their own construction or demolition projects. Exempt are the producers of the waste and demolition or construction contractors who self-haul in a dump truck or attached trailer. The code does not say whether a junk removal crew hauling a homeowner's shed counts as a contractor self-hauling, or needs the permit.

Boise's demolition permits come with a reuse and recycling step

A Boise demolition permit includes a material and waste management plan. The City emails photos of the building to local reuse companies and gives them up to five business days to claim materials. Metals that local recyclers accept must be recycled, and after the job you send in landfill and recycling receipts before the bond is released. A bond for site cleanup is required.

Historic districts review shed demolitions

Boise has ten historic districts, including the North End and East End. The City lists demolition of a primary or accessory building among projects that need a Certificate of Appropriateness. Staff-level reviews take up to 15 days, and a 10-day appeal period follows before a building permit can be pulled. Planning: (208) 608-7100.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Boise?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Ada County, lower if it's already taken apart. Full House Junk Removal bases its price on how much truck space the load takes and gives a firm quote on site, and We Haul Boise offers free estimates. If the shed needs a city permit, that fee is extra.

Does a small shed need a permit to tear down?

Boise's residential guide ties the demolition permit to sheds over 200 square feet and says one of 200 square feet or less needs no building permit, unless it is in a floodplain. In a historic district, the City still lists demolition of any accessory building as needing a Certificate of Appropriateness. If you're unsure, the permit counter is at (208) 608-7070.

Where can I take shed debris myself?

The Ada County Landfill at 10300 N. Seamans Gulch Road is open Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mixed loads cost $15 up to 1,035 pounds, then $34 a ton. Every load must be secured or covered. For clean, unpainted lumber, Diamond Street Recycling on West Diamond Street charges $10 a cubic yard.

Can the concrete slab come out too?

Shed Gone can include it when you send photos. If you break it up and haul it yourself, the Ada County Landfill's diversion area takes clean concrete rubble and chunks. Diamond Street Recycling does not accept concrete or bricks.

What if the shed has old paint, chemicals or asbestos siding?

Boise trash service won't take asbestos, and the City's demolition page says hazardous materials such as asbestos and lead paint must be abated under EPA rules. The Ada County Landfill accepts packaged asbestos by appointment at $50 a ton plus a $50 certification fee. Leftover paint and chemicals go to the county's household hazardous waste site at the landfill, open Fridays and Saturdays.

Where can a metal shed go?

To a scrap yard. Pacific Steel & Recycling on Emerald Street buys most scrap metal, including steel and aluminum, and is on the City's list of metal recyclers. The county landfill's diversion area also takes items that are mostly metal. Strip wood floors and plastic first.
