PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL
Here’s what Nampa asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.
Yes, for bigger or wired sheds. Nampa requires a building permit to demolish a detached shed over 200 sq ft, or one of any size hardwired for 120-volt power. Ask (208) 468-5435 about smaller sheds.
Nampa Building Safety: Residential FAQ ↗Nampa City Code Title 4, Building Regulations ↗
No. Nampa's code makes removing construction and demolition waste the occupant's job. Republic Services' paid bulky pickup is for appliances, furniture and other large items.

Pickles Butte Sanitary Landfill (Canyon County). Construction/demolition waste $38 a ton, clean wood $20 a ton, concrete $25 a ton; $15 minimum for Canyon and Owyhee County residents; $50 added for an uncovered load.

Others here: Crap Kings lists $350 to $600 for a small shed up to 10x12. Top Shelf says most shed demolitions run $500 to $2,000. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 in Canyon County.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗
City code requires a building permit to remove or demolish any building or structure, and the city's permit list names demolishing a detached shed over 200 sq ft. The residential demolition application needs a site plan marking the structures coming down and showing how utilities will be terminated, plus an erosion permit through the city's online portal. Fees follow the valuation table, starting at $22.20 for work valued up to $500, and starting without a required permit doubles the fee.
Nampa City Code Title 4, Building Regulations ↗Nampa Building Safety: Residential FAQ ↗Nampa Residential Demolition Permit Application & Checklist (PDF) ↗Nampa Schedule of Permit Fees (Exhibit A, PDF) ↗
Nampa's demolition application says electrical, mechanical and plumbing work need separate applications with their own fees. A shed hardwired for 120-volt power needs a building permit whatever its size, so plan the circuit shutoff with the permit.

Burning anything in Nampa needs fire department permission, and the city's fire code bans burning construction waste, demolition debris, treated wood, tar paper and asphalt materials under all conditions.

Not as regular trash. Nampa's code says removing construction and demolition waste and other large, bulky items is the occupant's responsibility, and Republic Services, the city's trash contractor, collects appliances, furniture and other large items only for an added fee (call 208-466-3302). During Spring Clean-Up in the third full week of April, Republic takes bulk items free and tied bundles of 4 feet or less and 60 pounds or less; neither source mentions lumber, so ask before setting shed pieces out.

Nampa City Code § 3-3-3 makes it unlawful to engage in the business of solid waste collection for hire in the city unless the mayor and council authorize it, and § 3-3-1 counts construction and demolition wastes as solid waste. Republic Services runs the city's residential trash service. The code does not say whether a removal company hauling debris from its own teardown counts as collection for hire, and it lets the occupant arrange removal of construction and demolition waste (§ 3-3-9.C).

Putting up a shed of 200 sq ft or less skips the building permit but not Planning and Zoning: the city's accessory structure application carries a $15 nonrefundable fee and needs a site plan with setbacks. Single-family lots may have no more than two accessory buildings, not counting a detached garage where there's no attached one.

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.
Get a shed removal quote ↗A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

Idaho DEQ says all demolition projects require the Asbestos NESHAP 10-day notification form, filed 10 working days ahead with EPA Region 10 for non-major facilities. Neither DEQ nor Nampa says how that applies to a backyard shed, so ask EPA Region 10 (R10Asbestos@epa.gov) for an older shed with suspect siding or roofing.
