SHED REMOVAL IN MERIDIAN

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Meridian shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Meridian requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Meridian ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Meridian asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Meridian rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Not confirmed: Meridian's fee schedule lists a $50 demo fee, but no published rule says when a shed teardown needs a permit. Call Building Services at 208-887-2211 first.

City pickup

No. Meridian's bulky item service lists construction and demolition debris and fence posts among items it won't take. Each household gets 10 free bulky pickups a year for things like furniture.

Haul it yourself

Meridian Transfer Station (Republic Services). $1.60 per 20 pounds, $20 minimum, for construction debris, wood, shingles, dirt and trash (2026 rates, effective January 19, 2026). Hard-to-handle items add $7 per cubic yard or ton. Uncovered or unsecured loads pay a $27.55 surcharge.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Ada County. Full House Junk Removal prices by truck space and confirms on site; We Haul Boise gives free estimates.

Do I need a permit?Meridian demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Demolition permits exist, but the shed rule isn't published

Meridian's fee schedule lists a $50 demo fee for residential and commercial accounts, and the City's building code amendments say a demolition site plan must show what will be torn down and what stays. Neither page says whether a small backyard shed needs one. Sheds over 200 square feet, or over one story, need a Residential Shed (R-SHED) permit to build; one of 200 square feet or less in the rear yard needs none. Building Services: 208-887-2211, weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

03

Asbestos notice for demolitions

Idaho DEQ says all demolition projects require the federal Asbestos NESHAP 10-day notification form, delivered 10 working days before work starts; forms for nonmajor facilities such as public and commercial buildings go to EPA Region 10. DEQ does not say how this applies to a shed behind a house.

04

Call 811 before digging out piers

Pulling posts, piers or a slab edge is excavation. Request locates through Idaho DigLine 811 at least 2 business days, and no more than 10, before digging; marking is free.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Meridian pick up shed debris?

No. Republic Services runs Meridian's bulky item service, which gives single-family homes 10 free pickups a year for items too big for the cart, such as couches and appliances. Its list of items it won't take includes construction and demolition debris and fence posts, and bundles must be tied, no longer than 4 feet and under 30 pounds. City code also says bulky waste does not include construction debris, and the trash guide bars rocks, bricks, concrete and other construction materials from carts. Schedule bulky pickups at 208-345-1265.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Only haulers with a city franchise, license or contract may haul waste for hire

Meridian City Code 4-1-10(G) makes it unlawful to be in the business of collecting or hauling solid waste on city streets without a franchise, license or contract with the City, and the code's definition of solid waste includes demolition and construction waste. Republic Services holds the City's exclusive franchise. The code lets a construction contractor who produces incidental volumes of waste during demolition haul it from the site where it was generated, without a franchise, as long as it isn't in Republic-style carts or containers. The code doesn't say whether a junk removal or shed removal crew counts as that contractor.

Meridian has its own transfer station for construction debris

Republic's Meridian Transfer Station, behind its office at 2130 W. Franklin Road, takes construction and demolition debris, wood and roofing shingles at $1.60 per 20 pounds with a $20 minimum. Its 2026 rate sheet lists sheds and concrete among hard-to-handle items with an added fee, takes scrap metal free, and charges $27.55 for an uncovered load.

Sheds in the rear yard often sit on an easement

Meridian lets one shed of 200 square feet or less sit in the required rear yard without a building permit, but its handout warns that such a shed is likely on a utility easement and may have to be moved at the owner's cost. Typical plats carry 10-foot rear and 5-foot side easements, which is worth knowing before you dig out piers or a slab there.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Meridian?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Ada County, lower if it's already taken apart. Full House Junk Removal prices by how much truck space the load fills and firms up the quote on site, and We Haul Boise gives free estimates.

Where can I take shed debris myself?

The Meridian Transfer Station at 2130 W. Franklin Road (enter at the Benchmark light) charges $1.60 per 20 pounds for construction debris and wood, with a $20 minimum, and is open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Ada County Landfill on Seamans Gulch Road charges $15 for up to 1,035 pounds, then $34 a ton. Cover the load at either one.

Can I rent a dumpster for the teardown?

Yes, with limits. Meridian code lets you hire any provider for a temporary project container, but only for a project of 90 days or less and one per property each calendar year. Household trash can't go in it, and longer projects must use Republic.

Can the concrete slab come out too?

Shed Gone can include it when you send photos. If you haul broken concrete yourself, the Ada County Landfill's diversion area takes clean concrete rubble and chunks. The Meridian Transfer Station adds a hard-to-handle fee of $7 per cubic yard or ton for concrete.

What about paint, fuel or asbestos siding in the shed?

Household hazardous waste can go to the mobile collection site at 2130 W. Franklin Road on Mondays from noon to 7 p.m., except holidays. Asbestos siding should be tested first. The Ada County Landfill accepts packaged asbestos under its receiving procedures at $50 a ton plus a $50 certification fee.

Where can a metal shed go?

Scrap metal is free to drop at the Meridian Transfer Station. Pacific Steel & Recycling on Emerald Street in Boise buys most scrap metal, including steel and aluminum. Strip any wood floor or plastic parts first.
