SHED REMOVAL IN JEFFERSONVILLE

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Jeffersonville shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Jeffersonville requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Jeffersonville ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Jeffersonville asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Jeffersonville rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes. The Building Commission says permits are required to demolish homes and accessory structures. The posted fee is 2 cents a square foot, $35 minimum. Questions: 812-285-6415.

City pickup

Not confirmed: City Sanitation lists furniture and Friday metal-goods pickups but says nothing about lumber or building debris. Call 812-285-6455, or rent a City dumpster.

Haul it yourself

Clark-Floyd Landfill. Cash only; no checks or cards. Disposal fees are not published.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: Right Way Hauling lists $250 to $1,500+ for shed demolition, most near $600. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 in Clark County. 502 Junk Dept. and Jarvis price by load from $150.

Do I need a permit?Jeffersonville demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Tearing down a shed takes a demolition permit

The Building Commission says permits are required to demolish residential properties and accessory structures, and its permit application has a box for residential demolition. The residential fee sheet, marked effective May 2017, lists demolition and wrecking at $0.02 a square foot with a $35 minimum. You can apply and pay through the City's online permitting site. The office is at City Hall, 500 Quartermaster Court, Suite 200, open weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 812-285-6415.

02

Old Jeffersonville: the Preservation Commission reviews all demolition

Inside the downtown historic district, the City's design guidelines say all demolition must be reviewed by the Historic Preservation Commission through a Certificate of Appropriateness. The application form has boxes for outbuildings and for removing or demolishing a building. For rated historic buildings, notice must be posted for 60 days to one year before the demolition permit is issued. Ask the Building Commissioner's office, 812-285-6415, whether your shed needs review.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Jeffersonville pick up shed debris?

Not confirmed. City Sanitation picks up household furniture on trash day and appliances, electronics and metal goods on Fridays with a call ahead. It says nothing about lumber, shingles or building debris. For big cleanups it may charge a special pickup fee that a supervisor sets after seeing the pile. Its dumpster rentals are the clearer route: $80 for 4 yards, $215 for 10, $260 for 20, $295 for 30 and $320 for 40, paid in advance, with delivery, pickup and landfill fees included. You keep it 7 to 10 days. Call 812-285-6455.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Clark-Floyd Landfill

14304 State Road 60, Borden, IN 47106

A landfill owned by Clark and Floyd Counties and run by Clark-Floyd Landfill, LLC under a franchise agreement. It takes municipal, commercial and industrial waste and construction and demolition debris, which covers a wood shed's framing, siding and roofing. A recycling company on site pulls metals, paper, cardboard and wood out of the waste.

Fees: Cash only; no checks or cards. Disposal fees are not published.

Before you go: Pickup trucks and cash customers are taken Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 2:59 p.m. and Saturday 8 to 11:30 a.m., with no exceptions. Call the site at 812-246-9755 for the price of a load, and in bad weather to check that small vehicles can get in.

Outer Loop Recycling & Disposal Facility (WM)

2673 Outer Loop, Louisville, KY 40219

WM's regional landfill. It lists construction and demolition debris and municipal solid waste among accepted materials and does not take hazardous waste. Metro's Waste Reduction Center says it takes brick.

Fees: Not published. It takes check, credit or debit cards and credit accounts.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday 5:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed weekends; it stops taking retail loads an hour before closing. Call (502) 966-0272 for rates.

Clark County Recycling District office

112 Industrial Way, Charlestown, IN 47111

The county recycling district's main office keeps a dumpster just for scrap metal, which suits a metal shed's panels and frame once cut down. It also takes the paint, sealers, roof cement and lawn chemicals often stored in a shed, for a fee. Services are for residents only, not businesses. It doesn't list lumber or construction debris.

Fees: Scrap metal and metal appliances are free. Labeled latex paint is $2.50 a gallon and oil-based paint $0.40 a pound. Pesticides, fertilizers and herbicides are a $5 flat fee. Flammable putty and adhesives, such as roof cement, are $1.05 a pound. Credit card or cash.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Wednesdays until 7 p.m. Hazardous items need a manufacturer's label. Call 812-256-7942 to set an appointment.

What else should I know in Jeffersonville?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

No franchise hauler found; contractors need a City license

The City's Sanitation Department collects single-family trash itself, under state law and City ordinance 2009-OR-031. No City page names a franchise hauler for demolition debris or a license for junk haulers, and the City code isn't posted online. The Building Commission does say every contractor working in Jeffersonville must hold a City license and insurance, and it lists licenses for general contractors and the trades. It doesn't say whether a shed removal crew counts as a general contractor.

City pickup takes metal goods on Fridays

The Sanitation Department picks up appliances, electronics and metal goods each Friday, except City holidays, if you call 812-285-6455 ahead and set them at the curb by 6 a.m. The page doesn't say whether cut-down metal shed panels count, so ask when you call.

Oak Park residents need district approval first

Homes in the Oak Park Conservancy District need the district's sign-off before the City will issue a permit for any building project, and the Building Commission names sheds in that list. Bring the signed pre-approval form when you apply. The district office is at 4230 Portage Place, 812-283-3960. The page doesn't say whether this covers tearing a shed down.

Shed chemicals go to the county, not the City

City Sanitation won't take chemicals or household hazardous waste and sends residents to the Clark County Solid Waste Management District. It will take paint cans at the curb only if the paint is dried hard, with the lids left off so the crew can check.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

Other companies’ advertised prices

Yes. Clark-Floyd Landfill on State Road 60 in Borden takes construction and demolition debris and serves pickup trucks on weekdays until 2:59 p.m. and Saturday mornings. Where does a metal shed go?

Who calls 811 before the posts or footings come out?

Whoever is digging. Call 811 or 1-800-382-5544 at least two full working days before you dig, then wait for the lines to be marked.
