SHED REMOVAL IN WICHITA

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Wichita shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Wichita requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Wichita ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Wichita asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Wichita rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes. Wichita's code requires a permit to demolish any building or structure, and MABCD charges $50 for a wrecking permit. The 200 sq ft shed exemption is for building a shed, not tearing one down.

City pickup

No. Wichita has no city trash service. Private haulers may offer bulky pickup for their own price, and demolition debris must go with a licensed collector or be self-hauled.

Haul it yourself

Brooks Landfill. $47.85 a ton for a secured load, $61.10 a ton unsecured, $34 minimum. Clean concrete, stone, brick and clean dirt are free. Cash or credit, no checks.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Sedgwick County. College HUNKS lists $99 to $699 junk-load examples, and Wheat State Removal quotes after an estimate.

Do I need a permit?Wichita demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

A wrecking permit from MABCD, even for a small shed

MABCD, the joint City-County building department, handles permits in Wichita. The local residential code says anyone who intends to demolish a building or structure must first apply for and get the required permit. Its exemption for one-story detached accessory buildings of 200 square feet or less covers building them with a location permit, not tearing them down. MABCD lists the wrecking permit at $50; it can be pulled online through the MABCD Portal or in person by appointment. Work started without a permit can draw a civil penalty up to the amount of the permit fee.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Wichita pick up shed debris?

No. The City doesn't collect trash; residents choose a hauler from the City's list of permitted private haulers. Any of them may offer bulky waste pickup at a price they set, using a truck licensed for it. City code requires construction and demolition waste to be removed within 30 days, either by a licensed collector or by the owner hauling it to a licensed landfill and paying the fee.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Brooks Landfill

4100 N West Street, Wichita, KS 67205

City-owned construction and demolition landfill. It takes waste from the construction, remodeling, repair and demolition of structures, plus tree debris. Garbage mixed into a load draws a $150-a-ton penalty, and barrels aren't allowed. Asbestos is taken by appointment only.

Fees: $47.85 a ton for a secured load, $61.10 a ton unsecured, $34 minimum. Clean concrete, stone, brick and clean dirt are free. Cash or credit, no checks.

Before you go: Open March to October Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and November to February until 4:30 p.m.; Saturdays 8 a.m. to noon. Closed Sundays. Call 316-350-3225.

CDR construction and demolition landfill

4250 W 37th St. N., Wichita, KS

One of the two construction and demolition landfills Sedgwick County lists. The County says these landfills take wood and wood products, roofing, bricks, concrete, drywall, wiring, plumbing fixtures and non-asbestos insulation, but not garbage, hazardous material, tires, or drums and containers.

Fees: Not published; the County says to call for prices and be ready to pay cash.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 316-942-8666 for prices.

Waste Connections North Transfer Station

4300 W 37th St. N., Wichita, KS

Privately run transfer station where Sedgwick County encourages residents to self-haul large, bulky items. The County says construction and demolition debris can go to either transfer station, but commercially generated C&D debris has been banned from transfer stations since 2001; the ban doesn't apply to debris from homeowners.

Fees: Charged by weight; per-ton rates aren't published. Freon appliances cost extra.

Before you go: Call 316-941-4320 for rates and hours. The South station is at 5550 W 55th St. S., 316-252-3726.

Allmetal Recycling

800 E 21st Street, Wichita, KS

Scrap metal recycler that buys ferrous and non-ferrous scrap, including sheet metal and aluminum siding. It does not accept non-metal items such as concrete, wood, asphalt, dirt or debris, or asbestos-containing materials.

Fees: It buys scrap; prices aren't published.

Before you go: Call 316-262-1475 for current prices. The County recycling guide also lists locations at 2829 N Emporia and 800 St. Francis.

What else should I know in Wichita?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

No franchised hauler, but debris must go with a licensed collector

Wichita has no city trash service and no franchise; residents pick a private hauler from the City's permitted list. City code says construction and demolition waste must be removed by a solid waste collector using a truck licensed by the City for that work, or hauled by the owner to a licensed disposal site. A covered truck licensed only for demolition, bulky and tree waste costs $100 a year. Sedgwick County also licenses collectors for hire, but exempts contractors hauling debris that is incidental to their own demolition work.

Wrecking is licensed work in Wichita

The Unified Building and Trade Code says all wrecking must be done by licensed wrecking contractors, who post a $2,000 indemnity bond with MABCD. A wrecking license costs $360 for two years. The exception is a homeowner: an owner of residential property may wreck buildings accessory to a wood-framed single-family home, as long as a permit is pulled from MABCD first.

Free bulky waste coupons are planned for 2027

Sedgwick County's solid waste fee budget lists a bulky waste coupon program for 2027 that would let residents drop off up to 1,000 pounds of waste for free at the transfer stations. Dates and rules weren't posted yet.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Wichita?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp's Wichita shed page gives $94 to $1,559 for Sedgwick County, less for a shed that's already taken apart. College HUNKS lists example junk-load prices of $99 to $699 based on truck space. Wheat State Removal gives free estimates.

What does Brooks Landfill charge for shed debris?

Brooks takes construction and demolition waste by weight. Its fee page lists $47.85 a ton for a secured load, $61.10 a ton for an unsecured one and a $34 minimum. Clean concrete, stone and brick go free, so a broken-up slab with no rebar or wire costs nothing to dump. Bring cash or a card; checks aren't taken.

Can I tear down my own shed?

Yes, with a permit. The trade code lets an owner of residential property wreck buildings accessory to a wood-framed single-family home, provided the owner gets a permit from MABCD before starting. A hired crew must hold a wrecking license.

Where does a metal shed go?

Scrap yards. Sedgwick County's recycling guide lists several, including Allmetal Recycling, which buys sheet metal and aluminum siding. Allmetal refuses wood, concrete and other non-metal debris, so strip the panels clean first.

What about old paint, gas and chemicals in the shed?

The Sedgwick County Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 801 Stillwell takes them free from county residents. Drop-off runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Call 316-660-7458.

Does an old shed need an asbestos check?

The wrecking permit application asks whether asbestos is present. KDHE says Kansas and federal asbestos rules focus on commercial and public buildings, and homeowners working on their own residence aren't covered. Brooks Landfill takes asbestos only by appointment. Questions go to KDHE at 785-296-6024.
