SHED REMOVAL IN MAPLE GROVE

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Maple Grove shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Maple Grove requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Maple Grove asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Maple Grove rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes, as written. Maple Grove requires a permit before a building is demolished, applied for online. Whether a shed of 200 sq ft or less is exempt isn't stated; call 763-494-6060.

City pickup

No. Maple Grove has no city or contracted trash service. Bulky pickup is up to your licensed hauler, and Hennepin County's drop-offs don't take wood.

Haul it yourself

Hennepin County Brooklyn Park Drop-off Facility. Scrap metal: no charge. Household hazardous waste is accepted without a listed fee.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Hennepin County. College HUNKS lists $99 to $699 junk loads. Junk Masters, Junk King and Junk Happens quote on site.

Do I need a permit?Maple Grove demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

A permit before demolition

Maple Grove's permit page says a permit is required before a building is constructed, enlarged, altered, repaired, moved or demolished, and all residential permits are applied for online through ePermits. The city enforces the Minnesota State Building Code, which also lists demolition among work that needs a permit. Older city code adds that no one may wreck a building without a permit from the City Council, with a performance bond. Ask Building Inspections which of these steps applies to a backyard shed.

04

Wiring comes out under an electrical permit

Maple Grove's Building Department does its own electrical inspections. Permits go only to licensed electrical contractors, except that a homeowner may do and permit electrical work on the single-family home they live in.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Maple Grove pick up shed debris?

No. Maple Grove doesn't provide or contract residential garbage service. Households pick one of the city's licensed haulers, and whether that hauler takes shed debris as a bulky pickup, and the price, is up to the hauler. Hennepin County's Brooklyn Park drop-off takes the metal but not wood or construction materials. For a whole shed, hire a removal company or self-haul to a transfer station.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

What else should I know in Maple Grove?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Only city-licensed haulers may haul shed debris away

Maple Grove has no franchise hauler, but its code makes it unlawful to collect, haul or convey refuse from any property in the city, other than from your own home, without a city license, and each hauling vehicle must be licensed. Refuse is defined to include brick, plaster, wood, metal and other waste from demolishing buildings or structures. The code has a license class for rubbish and waste matter collection vehicles. So a homeowner may haul their own shed debris, but a company hauling it away needs the license. The code doesn't say whether a crew hauling debris from a shed it tore down is treated differently.

Moving a shed takes a council permit

City code says no one may move a building or portion of one within the city, into it or out of it, without a permit from the City Council. The owner posts a performance bond set by the building official, and the application needs a recent photo of the building and the moving route. A permit to move a building expires 120 days after it is issued.

A power line to the shed is yours to find

Maple Grove's Gopher State One Call handout says utilities mark only the lines they installed. You or a private contractor must locate lines like power to a garage, so a buried wire to a shed won't be marked. Calls must be placed at least two business days before digging.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Maple Grove?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Of other companies serving Maple Grove, LoadUp publishes $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Hennepin County, lower if the shed is already taken apart. College HUNKS shows $99 to $699 for general junk loads. Junk Masters, Junk King and Junk Happens quote after seeing the shed.

Can I haul the debris away myself?

Yes. Maple Grove's hauler license rule exempts hauling from your own home. Dem-Con's Blaine transfer station takes demo and construction waste at $70 a ton plus tax, with a $93.50 minimum, on weekdays. Republic Services' Delano drop-off takes construction and demolition debris at $56 a cubic yard, credit card only.

Where does a metal shed go?

Hennepin County's Brooklyn Park drop-off takes scrap metal from county households free. Cut it to pieces 4 feet or less, take off all non-metal parts, and bring proof of residency. It's open Tuesday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Does an old shed need an asbestos check?

Minnesota requires asbestos and other problem wastes to be removed from any structure, homes included, before it is torn down. The federal asbestos notice to the MPCA generally doesn't apply to homes with four or fewer units. Old cement-board siding or roofing is the usual suspect on a shed.

Can I just burn the old shed?

No. Minnesota makes it illegal to burn any structure on purpose, except for real firefighter training.

Who calls Gopher State One Call before posts come out?

You do, unless you hire a professional excavator, who is then responsible. Call 651-454-0002 or 800-252-1166, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, at least two business days ahead.
