SHED REMOVAL IN PLYMOUTH

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Plymouth shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Plymouth requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Plymouth ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Plymouth asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Plymouth rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes, for demolition work in general. Plymouth's handouts exempt only building a shed of 200 sq ft or less, so ask Building Inspection (763-509-5430) about tearing down a small one.

City pickup

No. Plymouth has no city trash pickup; your licensed hauler sets its own bulky-item rules. The yearly spring Drop-Off Days took construction debris for $60 a car in 2026.

Haul it yourself

Dem-Con Blaine Transfer Station. Demo and construction waste: $70 a ton plus a $2 a ton solid waste tax, with a $93.50 minimum plus tax. Prices are subject to change.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Hennepin County. College HUNKS lists $99 to $699 junk loads. Junk Masters, Junk King and Junk Happens quote on site.

Do I need a permit?Plymouth demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Demolition needs a permit; the small-shed exemption is written for building

Plymouth enforces the Minnesota State Building Code, which requires a permit to demolish a building or structure. The City's homeowner guide lists demolition work and accessory structures as needing permits. The state exemption covers one-story detached storage sheds of 200 square feet or less, and Plymouth's handouts describe it as erecting a small shed. No City page says whether tearing one down is exempt.

02

Utilities are disconnected before the permit

The demolition checklist lists the steps in order: call Gopher State One Call before digging, have power and gas disconnected by the utility, get a water and sewer disconnect permit, and have erosion control inspected. Only then is the demolition permit issued. After the work, all debris, including foundations and footings, must be removed and the ground graded and seeded. A shed with no utilities skips most of this.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Plymouth pick up shed debris?

No. Plymouth doesn't collect garbage; each household chooses a City-licensed hauler, and the City's Republic Services contract covers only recycling and organics. Whether your hauler takes bundled lumber or a pile of shed debris, and the price, is up to the hauler. The City's spring Drop-Off Days take construction debris for a per-vehicle fee, but the event runs once a year. For a whole shed, hire a removal company or self-haul to a transfer station.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

What else should I know in Plymouth?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

A city hauler license may apply to removal crews

Plymouth has no franchise hauler; households pick their own licensed hauler. The City's hauler page says anyone providing roll-offs or dumpsters, or collecting any waste, including bulky items, must have a City license, and every hauling vehicle needs a City decal. The license costs $125 for the first vehicle and $25 for each added one, with a $1,000 surety bond. The code itself requires a license to collect garbage or recyclables, and its garbage definition leaves out construction debris. Neither source says whether a crew hauling away a shed it tore down needs the license, or mentions homeowners hauling their own debris.

Spring Drop-Off Days take construction debris

Once a year the City runs Drop-Off Days for residents at the Maintenance Facility, 14900 23rd Ave. N. In 2026 the paid day, May 2, took remodeling material and construction debris for $60 a car, $120 with a trailer or cargo van, and $350 for a box truck, with small discounts for paying ahead. Proof of residency is required. The 2027 dates aren't posted yet.

Power to a shed is cut by Xcel or Wright-Hennepin

Plymouth's demolition checklist says demolition can't begin until disconnects are verified. It lists Xcel Energy (1-800-895-4999) and Wright-Hennepin ((763) 477-3000) for electric disconnects and CenterPoint Energy ((612) 372-4720) for gas. Water or sewer to a structure needs a City disconnect permit; the residential sewer disconnection fee is $40.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Plymouth?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Of other companies serving Plymouth, LoadUp publishes $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Hennepin County, lower if the shed is already taken apart. College HUNKS shows $99 to $699 for general junk loads. Junk Masters, Junk King and Junk Happens quote after seeing the shed.

Where can I take shed lumber and shingles myself?

Dem-Con's Blaine transfer station takes demo and construction waste at $70 a ton plus tax, with a $93.50 minimum, on weekdays. Republic Services' Delano drop-off takes construction and demolition debris at $56 a cubic yard, Tuesday to Saturday, credit card only. Hennepin County's own drop-offs don't take wood.

Where does a metal shed go?

Hennepin County's Brooklyn Park drop-off takes scrap metal from county households free. Pieces must be 4 feet or less with all non-metal parts removed, and you need proof of residency.

Does an old shed need an asbestos check?

Minnesota requires asbestos and other problem wastes to be removed from any structure, homes included, before it is torn down. The federal asbestos notice to the MPCA generally doesn't apply to homes with four or fewer units. Old cement-board siding or roofing is the usual suspect on a shed.

Can I just burn the old shed?

No. Minnesota makes it illegal to burn any structure on purpose, except for real firefighter training.

Do I need to call before pulling out posts or a slab?

Yes. Plymouth's permit guide and demolition checklist both say to call Gopher State One Call, (651) 454-0002 or (800) 252-1166, before you dig out footings, posts or a slab.
