SHED REMOVAL IN HOUSTON

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Houston shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Houston requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Houston ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Houston asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Houston rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes. Houston's demolition guideline covers any structure, and a one-story demo permit costs $127.56. The code's 120 sq ft shed exemption doesn't say it covers teardown; ask 832-394-9000.

City pickup

Partly. Heavy trash takes up to 4 cubic yards of building material you generated yourself, but no shingles, brick or concrete, and nothing a contractor tore out.

Haul it yourself

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: Tex Mex lists small sheds at $250 to $485 and large ones at $1,200 and up. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for Harris County. Others quote on site.

Do I need a permit?Houston demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

One permit per structure, and the slab goes too

Houston's Building Demolition Guideline (Form CE-1075, revised January 2026) says a demo permit is required for any structure or building, residential or commercial, and a separate permit for each structure removed. A one-story demolition costs $127.56 ($94 plus a $33.56 admin fee). The permit requires removing all construction materials, including the slab unless the Building Official approves an exception, and leaving the site level and free of debris. A final inspection follows; Structural Inspections is at 832-394-8840.

02

Plumbing sign-off comes first, even with no plumbing

Before the demo permit, a registered master plumber disconnects any sewer and water lines and gets that work inspected; the guideline lists the sewer disconnect at $131.12. If the shed has no plumbing, you still need approval from the Plumbing Inspection Section (832-394-8870) before you request the demo permit.

04

Wiring and digging

Houston issues electrical permits only to registered master electricians, so a shed circuit should be disconnected at the panel by one. Pulling posts or piers counts as digging: Texas law requires an 811 request at least two business days ahead.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Houston pick up shed debris?

Some of it, if you take the shed down yourself. Heavy trash comes every other month to occupied homes on City curbside service. A set-out can be up to 8 cubic yards, and up to 4 cubic yards of that can be building material you generated yourself. Shingles, brick, plaster and concrete are excluded, and debris from a contractor isn't collected at all. If allowed and refused items are mixed, the whole pile may be left. Set it behind the curb between 6 p.m. the Friday before and 7 a.m. on collection day.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

What else should I know in Houston?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Reusable lumber has a free drop-off

The city's Reuse Warehouse at 9003 N. Main takes donated lumber, plywood and paneling, doors and windows from Houston residents if they're clean and reusable. It refuses demolition waste, rotten or moldy wood and tear-off shingles, so it only helps if the shed comes apart in good pieces. Call 281-814-3324 first.

Not every Houston address has city trash service

Some Houston households get trash collection from private haulers instead of the city. Where an HOA or civic association has a sponsorship agreement, no home in that area can use City collection. Check your address in the Find Your Schedule tool, the HTX Collects app or by calling 311 before you plan a heavy trash set-out.

Recycling centers take scrap metal, not sheds

Houston's three recycling centers (Westpark, Clear Lake/Ellington and Kingwood) accept scrap metal, but their not-accepted list names sheds. A metal shed is better cut down and taken to a scrap yard, or hauled by a crew.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

What will it cost? How shed removal is priced, and what other local companies publish.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

Other companies’ advertised prices

Two companies that serve Houston publish a shed price. Tex Mex Junk Removal lists small sheds at $250 to $485 and large sheds at $1,200 and up. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for Harris County and sets the price when you book. Fire Dawgs confirms a price on site, and the other companies quote each job. None of these prices says it includes Houston's $127.56 demolition permit.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

Can I haul shed debris to a city drop-off center?

Yes, in small loads. Houston's six Residential Drop-Off Centers take up to 4 cubic yards of contractor-type material such as lumber, plywood and shingles (bagged), and wood items must be fully broken down. Bring a Texas ID and a City of Houston utility bill or lease with the same address. Pickups and trailers up to 10 feet are allowed; dump trailers, box trucks and contractor vehicles are not, and you unload yourself.

Where does a broken-up slab go?

Not to the city: heavy trash and the drop-off centers both refuse concrete. Cherry Companies (now Arcosa Stabilized & Recycling) says it pays for broken concrete from slabs and asks you to call (713) 436-0990 for payout rates. WM's Fairbanks Landfill is a construction-debris landfill with public hours for pickups.

A company told me sheds don't need a permit. Is that right?

Houston Junk Movers' shed page says a permit is needed only "in most cases, no." Houston's own guideline says a demo permit is required for any structure. Ask the company who pulls the permit and who pays the $127.56 before you book, and check with the Permitting Center if your shed is 120 sq ft or less.

Do I need an asbestos survey for an old shed?

Houston's guideline requires an asbestos inspection before demolition only for commercial structures. Texas DSHS says one private residence is not subject to the federal asbestos rules and no notice is required. Old cement-board siding or roofing still deserves care; ask the crew how they handle it.

Where can a metal shed go?

Sims Metal at 2160 Houston Harbor Blvd. buys steel, aluminum and tin from individuals, Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Panels go easier if the shed is cut down first.

Which crews take the shed apart and the slab out?

Tex Mex, Fire Dawgs, Mac Junk Removal, Houston Junk Hauling, Houston Junk Movers and Texas Junkers all say they tear sheds down, not just haul pieces. Houston Junk Movers says a concrete foundation may need a jackhammer. Ask whether the slab is in the quote, since Houston's demo permit expects it gone.
