SHED REMOVAL IN BROOKFIELD

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Brookfield shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Brookfield requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Brookfield ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Brookfield asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Brookfield rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes. City code requires a permit to raze any building or structure. The 2026 fee is $100 plus 16 cents a square foot. Questions: Building Inspections, 262-796-6646.

City pickup

Only in small amounts. GFL lists lumber and construction debris as bulky items at $45 per pickup of up to two items, which won't cover a whole shed. Call GFL at 262-367-6040.

Haul it yourself

City of Brookfield Recycle Center. No drop-off fees are posted.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Waukesha County. Camo Crew and College HUNKS price by truck or trailer space; Blaackbeard prices by shed size and debris.

Do I need a permit?Brookfield demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Razing any structure needs a permit

Brookfield's building code says no one may raze or demolish any building or structure, or any part of one, without a permit from the Director of Inspection Services. The City's permit table marks razing a structure as needing a building permit and a plumbing permit. A 30-square-foot exemption exists only for building a new accessory building. The 2026 residential fee is $100 plus $0.16 per square foot demolished, up to $1,000, so a 10-by-12 shed comes to about $119. Apply online through the City's residential building permit.

02

Utilities are disconnected before the permit

The owner must notify every utility serving the structure, and the City won't issue a raze permit until meters and service connections are removed, disconnected or sealed. Sewer and water laterals must be abandoned under a separate excavation and plumbing permit, with a video of the sewer lateral sent to the City engineer.

03

Wiring to the shed

Brookfield requires an electrical permit before any electrical installation is altered, and electricians must hold a Wisconsin licence or registration. Have a licensed electrician cut and cap the shed circuit before teardown.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Brookfield pick up shed debris?

Only a little at a time. The City's hauler, GFL, lists lumber and construction debris among the bulky items it will take for a fee: $45 per pickup of up to two items, arranged by calling 262-367-6040. A whole shed's lumber, roofing and floor is far more than that. Bulky items may go out no more than 24 hours before pickup, and trash cans are limited to 50 pounds and five a week.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

City of Brookfield Recycle Center

19700 Riverview Dr., Brookfield, WI 53045

City-run recycling drop-off. It takes only recyclable materials, including fairly clean asphalt, brick and concrete (up to half a cubic yard per visit) and scrap metal with the non-metal parts removed. It does not take lumber or other non-recyclables.

Fees: No drop-off fees are posted.

Before you go: Open Saturdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. all year, plus Tuesdays and Thursdays 1 to 7 p.m. from April to November. No dump trucks, trucks larger than a pickup or trailers over 8 by 10 feet. Call (262) 782-5029.

WM Orchard Ridge Recycling & Disposal Facility

N96 W13073 County Line Rd., Menomonee Falls, WI 53051

WM landfill whose facility listing includes construction and demolition debris and municipal solid waste, with separate residential hours. Waukesha County lists it as a landfill option for building materials, roofing and other construction waste.

Fees: Not published. WM's listing takes credit and debit cards.

Before you go: Residential hours are Monday to Friday 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 7 to 11:45 a.m. Call 262-253-8620 for current rates before you load up.

Allied Resource Recovery (ARR Waukesha)

1001 Tesch Ct., Waukesha, WI 53186

Family-owned scrap recycler that serves residential customers at a canopy-covered drop-off with truck scales. It buys steel, sheet iron, aluminum siding and other metals by weight, so a cut-down metal shed's panels and framing can go here. It doesn't take furniture, glass, hazardous materials or anything containing liquids, and it doesn't pick up from homes.

Fees: No fee for metal; it pays by weight. Prices aren't published.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 7:30 a.m. to noon. Call (262) 574-0100.

City of Waukesha Drop-Off Center

750 Sentry Dr., Waukesha, WI 53186

City-run drop-off. Landfill trash from household projects, including wood and lumber, drywall and doors, is taken only from City of Waukesha residents, for material from their own City property. Any Waukesha County resident may bring scrap metal and recyclables. No businesses or contractors. It does not take concrete or shingles.

Fees: Landfill trash by vehicle: $10 a car, $15 a hatchback, SUV or van, $20 a pickup, $25 a trailer or large pickup with walls, $40 a 10- to 15-foot moving truck and $75 a 20- to 26-foot truck. Scrap metal and recyclables are free. Cash, check or card.

Before you go: Open April to November on Wednesdays 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; December to March, Saturdays only. Bring a photo ID showing residency. Questions: City Engineering, 262-524-3600.

What else should I know in Brookfield?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Any hauler may take bulky items; no debris franchise found

GFL holds the City's trash and recycling contract, but Brookfield's code says bulky items may be picked up by the City's collector or by any other waste hauler, and no section gives a company sole rights to haul debris or requires a local hauler licence. At the state level, Wisconsin DNR requires an operating licence for waste collection and transport services, with an exemption for services hauling less than 20 tons a year.

The Riverview Drive Recycle Center takes slab chunks, not lumber

The City Recycle Center at 19700 Riverview Drive takes only recyclables. It accepts fairly clean asphalt, brick and concrete and scrap metal with the non-metal parts removed, up to half a cubic yard of masonry per visit, but not lumber or other non-recyclables. Dump trucks, trucks larger than a pickup and trailers over 8 by 10 feet aren't allowed.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Brookfield?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Waukesha County, lower if it's already taken apart. Camo Crew and College HUNKS quote by load volume, and Blaackbeard prices light demolition by the structure's size and debris, labor included. Add the City's raze permit, $100 plus 16 cents a square foot.

Can I haul the debris myself?

Partly. Brookfield's Recycle Center takes clean concrete and brick up to half a cubic yard a visit, plus scrap metal, but not lumber or shingles. For mixed shed debris, Waukesha County lists WM's Orchard Ridge landfill in Menomonee Falls, which has residential hours but doesn't post rates; call 262-253-8620.

Where does a metal shed go?

Strip off wood and plastic and take the metal to the City Recycle Center. Allied Resource Recovery at 1001 Tesch Ct. in Waukesha buys steel, sheet iron and aluminum siding by weight, and any Waukesha County resident can leave scrap metal free at the City of Waukesha Drop-Off Center on Sentry Drive.

Does an old shed need an asbestos check?

Wisconsin DNR doesn't require an asbestos inspection or notice for a single residential structure with four or fewer homes, unless it's part of a larger project such as a road or commercial development. If siding or roofing might hold asbestos, Waukesha County lists Micro Analytical in Milwaukee for lab testing.

Do I need a permit for a new shed?

Yes, unless it's under 30 square feet. Brookfield allows no more than two accessory buildings on a residential lot. The 2026 fee is $80 minimum or 37 cents a square foot, plus an $80 plan review fee.

Do I need to call before pulling posts or a slab?

Yes. Wisconsin law requires everyone, including a homeowner digging in their own yard, to contact Diggers Hotline three working days before digging. Dial 811 or file online.
