PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL
Here’s what Casas Adobes asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.
Yes. Pima County lists demolition of any building or structure as needing a permit, with no size exemption. Its fee table has no demolition line; call Development Services at 520-724-9000.

No. There is no city trash service; you hire a private hauler or self-haul. County code lets haulers decline construction debris, so ask yours first.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗
Pima County's 'Do I Need a Permit?' list marks 'Demolition of building or structure' as needing a permit and gives no size cutoff. The same page warns that the Native Plant Preservation Ordinance, Buffer Overlay Zone rules and floodplain rules can add steps; the Regional Flood Control District (520-724-4600) can say if your lot is in a floodplain.
The County fee table effective July 1, 2026 has no line for demolition. Its base fee for any permit that needs an inspection is $69, and work started before a permit is issued costs an extra 25% of the permit fee. Confirm the actual shed fee with Development Services.

The County's list says new outlets or fixtures need an electrical permit but has no entry for cutting power to an outbuilding. Bearded Junk Removal won't start until a licensed professional disconnects any power. Ask Development Services (520-724-9000) whether the disconnect needs its own permit.

PDEQ enforces the federal asbestos rules in Pima County, and its fact sheet says the demolition of any single residential building is not covered, unless it is part of a public or commercial project. If the rules don't apply, no PDEQ notification or permit is needed. Whether PDEQ treats a detached backyard shed as part of the home wasn't stated; ask at 520-724-7400.

No. Casas Adobes has no city or County trash pickup. Pima County says residents outside Tucson city limits must hire a solid waste hauler or haul to a disposal site themselves. Under County Code 7.25.040, haulers must take household garbage and rubbish, but materials from the repair or construction of buildings are 'not considered acceptable for collection' and are taken only at the hauler's discretion. Ask your hauler before setting shed pieces out.

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Private northwest-side site run by Tank's Green Stuff. Casas Adobes is an unincorporated community, not a city. There is no city permit office and no city trash service. Pima County Development Services (520-724-9000) issues building and demolition permits, and the Pima County Department of Environmental Quality (PDEQ) licenses trash haulers and enforces the County's dumping and asbestos rules.

Unincorporated Pima County has no franchise hauler. Instead, County Code 7.25.020 says all waste collectors must get licenses for their business and each vehicle; PDEQ charges $162 a year for the business permit and $79 per vehicle. The code defines a waste collector as a private business collecting solid waste in the unincorporated county. Section 7.25.030 exempts a collector who hauls only the 'not standard' wastes in 7.25.040B2, which include materials from the repair, excavation or construction of buildings. Neither company listed here appears on PDEQ's permitted hauler list (rev. 06-18-25).

Casas Adobes sits south and southwest of Oro Valley and borders Marana and Tucson, and its neighbors may annex parts of it over time. A Tucson mailing address doesn't settle who issues your permit, so check your parcel before you apply.
Pima County's Catalina Transfer Station, about 3 miles north of Tangerine Road on Oracle Road (Hwy. 77), is the nearest public site that names construction debris and concrete. WM of Arizona runs it for the County.

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.
Get a shed removal quote ↗A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.
