SHED REMOVAL IN TUCSON

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Tucson shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Tucson requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Tucson ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Tucson asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Tucson rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes. Tucson requires a permit to demolish any structure, including an unpermitted shed. The fee is $84.26 per 5,000 sq ft plus a filing fee of at least $18.54.

City pickup

Not for a teardown. Brush & Bulky takes lumber cut to 5 feet in its own pile, but it refuses construction material and concrete.

Haul it yourself

Los Reales Landfill (Los Reales Sustainability Campus). Covered load under 2,000 pounds: $18. Covered loads over 2,000 pounds: $38 a ton. Uncovered loads pay $10 more, and every load adds a $2 environmental fee. Special handling: $120 a ton, $78 minimum. Cards or tap only.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Pima County. Vista Clean lists trailer loads from $150 to $450 and Junk King prices by truck space; Hero and Bearded quote each shed.

Do I need a permit?Tucson demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Any demolition needs a permit

Tucson's permit guide says a permit is required to partially or fully demolish a building, structure or exterior wall, including unpermitted structures. It lists no size exemption for demolition. Apply through Tucson Development Center Online, or call Planning and Development Services at (520) 791-5550.

02

What the permit costs

The fee schedule effective July 1, 2026 sets exterior demolition at $84.26 per 5,000 sq ft of area demolished, per floor, so a backyard shed falls in the first bracket. A digital filing fee of 1% of the total, with an $18.54 minimum, is added. In a Historic Preservation Zone, a minor staff review of $122.85 also applies.

03

Asbestos rules rarely reach one shed

Pima County DEQ, not the city, enforces the federal asbestos rule here. Its guide says demolishing a single residential building is not covered, but several residential buildings torn down on one site as one project are. Where the rule applies, the county requires notice and an asbestos activity permit. Call PDEQ at (520) 724-7400 if an old shed has cement siding or tar roofing you are unsure about.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Tucson pick up shed debris?

Not a torn-down shed. Brush & Bulky comes twice a year and takes up to 10 cubic yards, including lumber and scrap metal cut to 5 feet, with lumber in a separate pile. Construction material, concrete, and dirt or gravel are refused. A special pickup can be ordered any time for $95 per 10 cubic yards at 520-791-3171, under the same rules.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Los Reales Landfill (Los Reales Sustainability Campus)

5300 E. Los Reales Rd., Tucson, AZ 85756

Regional landfill open to residential self-haulers from across Pima County. Its accepted list includes construction debris, concrete and asphalt, wooden pallets and green waste. Scrap metal, including metal fencing without concrete posts, is recycled at no charge. Regulated hazardous waste, bulk liquids and waste oil are refused.

Fees: Covered load under 2,000 pounds: $18. Covered loads over 2,000 pounds: $38 a ton. Uncovered loads pay $10 more, and every load adds a $2 environmental fee. Special handling: $120 a ton, $78 minimum. Cards or tap only.

Before you go: Open Monday to Saturday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed Sundays, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Cover the load with a tarp, blanket or sheet. Call 520-791-4183 with questions.

Speedway Recycling & Landfill Facility (Tank's)

7301 E. Speedway Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85710

Private recycling and landfill site run by The Fairfax Companies (Tank's Green Stuff). Tank's lists this east-side site for construction and demolition debris, inert materials, green waste and recyclable materials, and says it sorts loads to recycle as much as it can.

Fees: Not published.

Before you go: Call (520) 290-8588 for rates and hours, and to confirm it takes loads from homeowners before you drive out.

Catalina Transfer Station (Pima County)

14425 N. Oracle Rd., Tucson, AZ 85739

Pima County transfer station run by WM of Arizona under contract. Its accepted list names construction debris, concrete, dirt, rocks, bricks, furniture and green waste. Scrap metal is taken at residential rates. Hazardous waste, liquid waste and dead animals are refused. Antifreeze, batteries, oil and paint (5 gallons a month) go free.

Fees: Residential loads: $27.60 per vehicle under one ton; $48 a ton at or above one ton (County fee schedule effective Jan. 1, 2025). The schedule also lists a $25 uncovered load fee.

Before you go: Open Monday to Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; closed Sundays and major holidays. It's on Oracle Road (Hwy. 77) about 3 miles north of Tangerine Road. Call 520-339-9172 to confirm hours and fees.

What else should I know in Tucson?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Only the city collects household trash; big haulers need a city truck permit

Tucson Code Sec. 15-16 bars anyone but the city from collecting refuse or recyclables from a home. The code defines refuse as garbage that fits standard containers and lists construction and demolition debris as a separate kind of solid waste, so the rule reads as covering household trash, not shed teardown debris, though the code doesn't say so outright. Sec. 15-70 adds a $1,000-a-year per-vehicle permit for haulers running front-load, rear-load, side-load or roll-off trucks; fleets of three or fewer such trucks are exempt from the fee. Pickups and trailers aren't named.

Pima County licenses waste haulers

Pima County says waste haulers must get Pima County DEQ licenses for the business and for each collection vehicle before operating in the county, and it tells residents to hire a hauler with a permit. The county page doesn't say whether this reaches junk removal crews working inside Tucson city limits.

Historic zones and older sheds get extra review

Demolitions in Tucson's five Historic Preservation Zones (Armory Park, Barrio Historico, El Presidio, Fort Lowell and West University) go through a full review that ends with Mayor and Council approval and starts with an on-site meeting. Anywhere in the city, a structure 50 or more years old needs minor architectural documentation approved before the permit is issued, and the city's form covers secondary structures. Questions go to PDSDHistoric@tucsonaz.gov.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Tucson?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Pima County, lower if it's already taken apart. Vista Clean lists general loads from $150 for a quarter trailer to $450 for a full trailer, and says heavy material like concrete costs more. Hero Junk Removal says its firm quote includes labor and disposal. Add the city's demolition permit to any total.

Can I haul the pieces to the landfill myself?

Yes. Los Reales takes construction debris from residents at $18 for a covered load under 2,000 pounds, plus a $2 fee, and accepts cards only. On the east side, Tank's Speedway Recycling & Landfill lists construction and demolition debris but posts no rates; call (520) 290-8588. Up north, Catalina Transfer Station charges $27.60 per vehicle under a ton.

Where can a metal shed go?

The Los Reales Recycling Center takes scrap metal from residents at no charge. Its list includes metal fencing without concrete posts but not chain-link, so take the panels apart and pull any concrete first.

My shed has power. What changes?

Have the circuit made safe before the teardown. Bearded Junk Removal won't start until a licensed professional disconnects power. Tucson's guide says permits are usually required for hardwired systems, so ask Planning and Development Services at (520) 791-5550 whether removing the circuit needs its own permit.

What about the concrete slab?

Bearded Junk Removal takes a shed down to the slab and treats slab removal as a separate heavy-haul job. Brush & Bulky refuses concrete, but Los Reales lists concrete and asphalt among accepted waste.

I'm putting up a new shed. Does that need a permit too?

Yes. Tucson requires a permit for every shed regardless of size, mainly to keep sheds out of front yards and within setbacks. A shed under 200 sq ft with no utilities needs only a site plan; larger or wired sheds need building plans too.

Will the crew take what's inside the shed?

Usually. Vista Clean says it clears the contents and the structure in the same visit, and Bearded gives a combined quote for emptying and demolishing. Paint, oil and pesticides don't belong in the truck; Tucson residents can take them to the free household hazardous waste site at Los Reales.
