SHED REMOVAL IN GILBERT

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Gilbert shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Gilbert requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Gilbert ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Gilbert asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Gilbert rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Not confirmed. Gilbert lets you build a one-story shed up to 200 sq ft without a permit, but doesn't say whether tearing one down needs its $150 demolition permit. Call (480) 503-6700.

City pickup

No. Gilbert's bulk trash pickup does not collect construction debris like lumber, or concrete. Residents can haul one load up to a ton free every 30 days instead.

Haul it yourself

WM San Tan Transfer Station. No self-haul rates published. WM says to check with your town for resident pricing; some towns cover a resident load.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: Strong Junk Removal lists $290 to $390 for a wood shed up to 8x10 and $400 to $540 for 10x12 or larger. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559. Others quote by truck space.

Do I need a permit?Gilbert demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Gilbert's shed exemption is written for building

Gilbert enforces the 2018 International Residential Code with town amendments. Its amended list of work exempt from permit includes one-story detached non-habitable accessory structures up to 200 square feet. The town's fee schedule, revised in 2026, lists a $150 demolition permit, but no published page says whether removing an exempt shed needs one. Ask Development Services at (480) 503-6700 before the teardown, especially for a larger or wired shed.

02

County asbestos rules usually skip a home lot

Maricopa County's asbestos demolition rules exempt a single owner-occupied residential parcel with four or fewer detached dwelling units. Outside that exemption, every demolition needs a county asbestos notification and fee, whether or not asbestos is found. Old shingles or siding still can't go to the Salt River Landfill if they contain friable asbestos.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Gilbert pick up shed debris?

No. Bulk trash comes every five weeks, in one pile no larger than 10 feet long by 5 feet wide by 5 feet high. The town lists construction debris like lumber and drywall, demolition debris like rock, dirt and concrete, and pallets among the things it doesn't collect. Questions go to customer service at (480) 503-6400.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

WM San Tan Transfer Station

4040 South 80th Street, Mesa, AZ 85208

WM lists non-hazardous construction and demolition debris, municipal solid waste and yard waste as acceptable. It does not accept hazardous waste.

Fees: No self-haul rates published. WM says to check with your town for resident pricing; some towns cover a resident load.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to noon; closed Sunday. Call ahead and bring your town's required ID and bill if you use a resident program.

Republic Services Mesa Transfer Station

6711 S. Mountain Rd., Mesa, AZ 85212

A Republic Services transfer station listed as a participating site in a city landfill-use program for household loads of non-hazardous solid waste. It takes no appliances containing refrigerant. Its own list of accepted materials was not found, so confirm construction debris by phone.

Fees: Self-haul gate rates are not published on the pages reviewed.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturday 6 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Call 602-237-2078. Republic requires a hard hat on site; one can be bought there.

Salt River Landfill

4660 N. Beeline Highway, Scottsdale, AZ 85256

Accepts solid waste, construction and demolition debris, yard waste, dirt and rocks. Refuses tires, paint, chemicals, liquids and friable asbestos. Large concrete pieces carry a special handling fee.

Fees: $60 a ton, $30 minimum per transaction; residential clean fill at the same rate. Special handling: $30 small bulk or $150 large bulk item fee plus weight. Untarped loads: $20. A deposit of 20% of gross vehicle weight is taken at entry; cards accepted.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; closed Sunday. Tarp and secure the load. Call (480) 941-3427.

What else should I know in Gilbert?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

One free self-haul load every 30 days

Gilbert residents can take one load of waste, up to one ton, to the WM San Tan Transfer Station or the Republic Services Mesa Transfer Station once every 30 days at no cost. Bring a photo ID and your latest Gilbert utility bill with the same name and address. Go over a ton and you pay for the whole load.

The town rents roll-off containers

For a big teardown you can do yourself, Gilbert rents 10, 20 and 40 cubic yard roll-offs to residents. The town lists $63.99 for delivery and $279.45 plus $44.66 a ton each time the container is hauled. Household hazardous materials can't go in.

A special bulk pickup won't fix it

Gilbert sells a $100 special bulk pickup for piles up to 20 feet by 5 feet by 5 feet. It follows the same accepted-items list, so it still won't take lumber or other construction debris from a shed.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Gilbert?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Strong Junk Removal is the one listed company that publishes shed prices: $290 to $390 for a wood shed up to 8x10 or a prefab metal shed, and $400 to $540 for a 10x12 or larger shed. LoadUp quotes each shed online inside a $94 to $1,559 range. Happy Hippo prices after an onsite visit.

Does the price include what's inside the shed?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Not at Strong Junk Removal: contents are extra unless you discuss them up front. LoadUp says a shed that's already taken apart costs less than one still standing. Tell each company what's inside and ask for one total.

What if the shed has concrete footings or anchors?

Say so when you ask for a quote. Strong Junk Removal says footings and anchors change scope and price, and it does not haul concrete. LoadUp says some sheds need light disassembly depending on the foundation.

I used my free load this month. Where else can I dump it?

The Salt River Landfill on the Beeline Highway takes construction and demolition debris at $60 a ton with a $30 minimum. Tarp the load: untarped loads pay a $20 fee on top.

Which crews are based nearby?

Code 3 Junk Removal is firefighter-owned and based in Chandler. Happy Junk Removal is based in Mesa, and Red Rock Junk Removal in San Tan Valley. LoadUp books independent contractors rather than its own crews.
