PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL
Here’s what Mesa asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.
Not for a small, unwired shed. Mesa needs no demolition permit for structures under 200 sq ft with no utilities or electricity. Larger or wired sheds need one; the fee is $120.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗
Mesa requires a demolition permit to tear down any residential structure, except structures under 200 square feet with no utilities or electricity. Both conditions apply, so a small shed with a light circuit still needs a permit. A finalized demolition permit removes the structure from property records.

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.
Get a shed removal quote ↗A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.
Start a quote from photos ↗Two companies serving Mesa publish a shed price. Strong Junk Removal lists $290 to $390 for a wood shed up to 8x10 or a prefab metal shed and $400 to $540 for 10x12 or larger. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 and gives the total when you book. College HUNKS and Junk King price by truck space, and the rest quote each job. A wired shed also needs Mesa's $120 demolition permit, which none of these prices mentions.
The shed page gives a $94 to $1,559 range. The total is shown when you book online and is lower for a shed that's already taken apart. Its national shed page says removal typically starts around $1,555; its local pages say an already-disassembled shed costs less.
Its light demolition page lists $290 to $390 for a wood shed up to 8x10 or a standard prefab metal shed, and $400 to $540 for a 10x12 or larger shed. Price varies with size, materials, access and complexity.
These are the other companies’ own advertised prices, checked October 8, 2026. They are not our prices and not a citywide average.
When you compare quotes, ask for one written total that covers dismantling, hauling, disposal fees and cleanup, and ask whether the contents, the floor and the slab or footings are included. What shed removal costs ↗
