SHED REMOVAL IN CHULA VISTA

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Chula Vista shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Chula Vista requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Chula Vista ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Chula Vista asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Chula Vista rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes. Chula Vista requires a demolition permit whenever a building or structure is demolished. Its 120-square-foot shed exemption is written for building permits only. Ask (619) 476-2332.

City pickup

No for teardown debris. The City says construction, remodeling and demolition debris must not go in the trash. Republic's free bulky pickup takes items like scrap metal and lawn furniture.

Haul it yourself

Otay Landfill (Republic Services). Charged by weight and waste type. Rates are not posted online; the landfill gives them by phone.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a Chula Vista shed. Crisan posts construction-debris loads from $187 to $947. Others quote on site or from photos.

Do I need a permit?Chula Vista demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

A demolition permit, with no shed size cutoff

The City's demolition page quotes CVMC 15.06.080: no building or structure may be removed or demolished without a permit from the Building Official. Form 4551 exempts one-story tool and storage sheds of 120 square feet or less from building permits, but neither page says that exemption covers a teardown. The application needs a New Construction Worksheet, the San Diego Regional Hazardous Materials Questionnaire, and utility disconnect notices for structures connected to a utility. The fee for demolishing an entire structure is $404 ($123 intake and $281 inspection).

02

A Waste Management Report comes first

Every project needs a Waste Management Report approved by Environmental Services before a demolition permit is issued; there is a short form for projects under 1,000 square feet. The C&D ordinance requires recycling 100% of inert material such as concrete and at least 65% of everything else. Performance deposits apply mainly to projects of 10,000 square feet or more. Questions: (619) 691-5122.

03

Wiring, older properties and digging

Form 4551 lists removal of electrical wiring as work that needs no electrical permit, while installing, repairing or relocating wiring does need a utility permit. Planning reviews demolition of buildings older than 50 years and work on historic properties; the Historic Preservation Manager is at (619) 409-5472. Before pulling posts or footings, contact DigAlert (811).

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Chula Vista pick up shed debris?

Not as a teardown. The City lists debris from construction, remodeling or demolition among items to keep out of the trash and to ask Republic Services about. Republic's free bulky pickup takes up to 10 items a week for cart customers, such as scrap metal and lawn furniture, with 24 hours' notice, and charges extra for heavy items a hand truck can't move. The franchise guidelines say regular service won't take more than 200 pounds of demolition debris. Call (619) 421-9400.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Otay Landfill (Republic Services)

1700 Maxwell Road, Chula Vista, CA 91911

Landfill with a paved public drop-off area where residents can bring loads of trash and clean-up debris. The same address is listed as a certified C&D and inert debris processing facility. It refuses hazardous waste, refrigerators, tires, electronics and paint that isn't completely dry.

Fees: Charged by weight and waste type. Rates are not posted online; the landfill gives them by phone.

Before you go: Call (619) 421-3773 for rates before you go. The landfill lists hours of Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.; closed Sundays and major holidays. Hard hats and vests are required, and children under 16 must stay in the cab.

EDCO Recovery & Transfer

3660 Dalbergia St., San Diego, CA 92113

Enclosed transfer station open to the public for bulky waste, construction waste, landscape material and old appliances. It is on the regional list of certified C&D recycling facilities as a transfer station.

Fees: Not published; the facility says it charges a reasonable cost.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; it may close early on busy days. Tell the scale house the load is C&D debris. Call (619) 287-7555.

Miramar Recycling Center

5165 Convoy St., San Diego, CA 92111

City recycling center at the landfill that takes ferrous metals such as iron at no charge and pays scrap value for some metals. Fits a cut-down metal shed, not wood or shingles.

Fees: No fee for ferrous metal; it pays scrap value for some metals at prices given by phone.

Before you go: Open Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call 858-268-8971 to confirm pricing and accepted items.

What else should I know in Chula Vista?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Republic Services holds an exclusive franchise, and homeowners may self-haul

Chula Vista gives Republic Services an exclusive franchise to collect and dispose of solid waste for a fee, and the agreement's definition of solid waste includes demolition and construction wastes. Its construction and demolition guidelines say homeowners should call Republic for a debris bin or may haul the waste to a recycler or landfill themselves. Larger generators may self-haul only with their own personnel and equipment. The agreement doesn't say whether an independent removal company may haul shed debris for a fee. Questions: Environmental Services, (619) 691-5122.

Treated wood can't go to the landfill

Shed floors and posts are often pressure-treated. The City's self-hauling page lists treated wood, paint, tires and hazardous waste as not accepted at the landfill; call Environmental Services at 619-691-5122 for disposal options.

Paint and chemicals go to the South Bay HHW facility

Clear old paint, pesticides, pool chemicals and batteries out of the shed first. Chula Vista residents can drop them off free, with no appointment, at the South Bay Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility, 1800 Maxwell Road, on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. City of San Diego residents can't use it.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

Other companies’ advertised prices

LoadUp is the only company that publishes a shed price for Chula Vista: $94 to $1,559, set when you book. Crisan Junk Removal posts general load charts, with construction-debris loads from $187 to $947. JUSTJUNK and College HUNKS quote each job. The City's demolition permit adds $404 for an entire structure, and no company says its price includes it.

LoadUp ↗

$94–$1,559

The shed page gives a $94 to $1,559 range that depends on size, condition, location and permits. The real price is shown when you book, and it's lower for a shed that's already taken apart.

These are the other companies’ own advertised prices, checked October 10, 2026. They are not our prices and not a citywide average.

When you compare quotes, ask for one written total that covers dismantling, hauling, disposal fees and cleanup, and ask whether the contents, the floor and the slab or footings are included. What shed removal costs ↗

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Chula Vista?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a Chula Vista shed and sets the price at booking. Crisan Junk Removal's construction-debris chart runs from a $187 minimum to $947 for a full truck. JUSTJUNK prices by the truck space the debris fills.

Where can I take the debris myself?

Otay Landfill, 1700 Maxwell Road, has a public drop-off area for trash and clean-up debris and charges by weight and waste type; it doesn't post rates, so call (619) 421-3773. EDCO Recovery & Transfer on Dalbergia Street in San Diego takes construction waste from the public. Metal panels can go to the Miramar Recycling Center.

Do I need an asbestos survey?

Probably not for a home's shed, but confirm. San Diego County APCD Rule 1206 exempts demolition at a residential building or structure with four or fewer dwelling units. The rule doesn't name detached sheds, and the City's demolition application still asks for the regional hazardous materials questionnaire.

What happens to the concrete pad?

Ask before you book. Crisan says it can remove the slab under a shed and grade the spot. The City's C&D rules require recycling all inert material, and Otay's C&D and inert processing facility is on the regional list of certified recyclers.

Which companies take the shed apart, and which only haul?

Crisan and JUSTJUNK describe dismantling sheds and hauling the debris. LoadUp says some light disassembly may be needed and offers it as an add-on. College HUNKS lists storage sheds among items it hauls but doesn't describe teardown.
