SHED REMOVAL IN OCEANSIDE

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Oceanside shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Oceanside requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Oceanside ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Oceanside asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Oceanside rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes. Oceanside's Building Division says a permit is required for all types of demolition work. Its 120-square-foot shed exemption covers building permits only. Ask (760) 435-3950.

City pickup

No. Waste Management's free large-item pickup bans construction debris, fencing and siding. It takes household items such as furniture and appliances.

Haul it yourself

Palomar Transfer Station (Republic Services). A fee is charged at the time of disposal. No rate is published online; Republic's flyer says fees may apply.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for an Oceanside shed. Dirty Deeds lists small sheds from $195 and 10×12 to 12×16 sheds from $395. Others quote on site.

Do I need a permit?Oceanside demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

A demolition permit, with no shed size cutoff

The Building Division's FAQ says a permit is required for all types of demolition work. City Code 6.2 exempts one rear-yard tool or storage shed of 120 square feet or less, up to 8 feet tall, from building permits, but nothing says that covers a teardown. The FY 2026-2027 fee for a demolition permit is $284.55 ($31.84 plan check and $252.71 inspection). The application needs an SDG&E disconnect notice, an erosion control plan and a plot plan, and the permit is issued after the San Diego Regional Hazardous Materials Questionnaire is approved.

02

The foundation goes too, and the sewer gets capped

Final approval of a demolition permit requires removing every part of the building, including the foundation, finishing any stormwater measures, and capping a sewer lateral at the property line. Planning has special requirements for historical structures and for structures in the Coastal Zone. Before pulling posts or footings, contact DigAlert (811).

03

A Waste Management Plan before the permit

Oceanside requires a Waste Management Plan before permits are issued for new construction, commercial renovation and most residential additions and alterations, and the plan form has a box for demolition. State law requires recycling at least 65% of project debris, and an affidavit is signed at final inspection. Whether a shed-only teardown needs the plan isn't stated.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Drop-off and recycling options

What else should I know in Oceanside?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Only the City's authorized collector may haul discarded materials

Oceanside City Code 13.3 says no one but the City or an authorized collector may collect or transport discarded materials, and the code counts C&D debris as discarded materials. The City's C&D recycling guide says Waste Management is the only hauler authorized to haul solid waste and recycling. The exceptions in 13.4 cover things like hazardous waste, landscapers' yard trimmings and donated recyclables; none names a demolition contractor hauling its own debris. A self-hauler may count as an authorized collector for material from its own premises only with the City's approval. Questions: Green Oceanside, (760) 435-4500.

Local recyclers for wood, concrete and metal

The City's C&D recycling guide lists buy-back and recycling sites around North County, including Moody's Recycling at 3210 Oceanside Blvd., Lee's Iron and Metal in Vista and EDCO's CDI facility in San Marcos. Reusable doors and windows can go to Habitat for Humanity in Escondido. The guide says to call first, since accepted materials change.

Paint and chemicals go to WM's HHW facility

Clear old paint, pesticides and pool chemicals out of the shed first. Oceanside residents can drop off household hazardous waste by appointment on two Saturdays a month at WM's facility, 2880 Industry Street. Call (760) 439-2824 and bring proof of residency.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Oceanside?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for an Oceanside shed and sets the price at booking. Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap lists small sheds from $195, standard 10×12 to 12×16 sheds from $395 and large structures from $575. JUSTJUNK prices by the truck space the debris fills.

Where can I take the debris myself?

The closest is Palomar Transfer Station, 5960 El Camino Real in Carlsbad, which takes C&D materials like wood, metal, drywall and concrete for a fee; call 760-603-0153. EDCO's CDI facility in San Marcos takes mixed loads of wood, concrete and drywall. Escondido Resource Recovery is open to the public daily. None of them posts rates online.

What happens to the concrete pad?

It has to go if the shed was permitted: the City's final demolition approval requires removing the foundation. Dirty Deeds says small slabs are broken up and hauled as part of the job and larger ones are quoted separately. EDCO's CDI facility takes concrete.

Do I need an asbestos survey?

Probably not for a home's shed, but confirm. San Diego County APCD Rule 1206 exempts demolition at a residential building or structure with four or fewer dwelling units. The rule doesn't name detached sheds, and Oceanside's demolition permit still asks for APCD notification and the regional hazardous materials questionnaire.

Can painted or treated wood go with the rest?

Not at the closest C&D sites. Palomar's flyer says no treated, stained or painted wood in its C&D recycling, and EDCO's CDI facility refuses painted or treated wood. Call the facility before loading a pressure-treated floor or posts.

Which companies take the shed apart, and which only haul?

Dirty Deeds, JUSTJUNK and Ace Hauling describe tearing sheds down. LoadUp offers light disassembly as an add-on. Junk Dudes lists shed removal for Oceanside, and College HUNKS lists storage sheds among items it hauls, but neither describes teardown.
