SHED REMOVAL IN ELK GROVE

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Elk Grove shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Elk Grove requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Elk Grove ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Elk Grove asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Elk Grove rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes, for sheds over 120 square feet. Elk Grove requires a permit to demolish a building or structure. Its 120-square-foot tool shed exemption doesn't say it covers demolition. Call (916) 478-2235.

City pickup

No. Republic's three free bulky pickups refuse construction material such as roofing, concrete and bricks. Cut lumber limits differ between the City and Republic, so a teardown won't qualify.

Haul it yourself

Elder Creek Transfer and Recovery Station (Republic Services). No public rate sheet found; call for self-haul rates.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: Discard Junk Removal starts Elk Grove sheds at $249. Take Care Junk Hauling lists $250 to $900+ by size. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559. Three others quote each job.

Do I need a permit?Elk Grove demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Demolition permit from the Building Division

Policy B-16-32 says "a permit is required for the demolition of any commercial or residential building." Fees are based on square footage and valuation, and the City suggests calling the Building Division for an estimate. Plans go in through the online Building Filedrop. The site plan must show each structure to be demolished and its square footage, and confirm water, sewer, gas and electric are properly disconnected.

02

Small sheds and the permit exemption

Elk Grove's permit policy says anyone who intends to demolish a building or structure must first apply for a permit. Its exemption list includes one-story tool and storage sheds with a floor area not over 120 square feet. The page doesn't say whether that exemption also covers tearing one down.

03

Air District rules for demolition

Elk Grove's demolition policy asks for Air Quality approval for non-residential buildings or when a home is replaced by commercial buildings. Sac Metro Air District Rule 902 excludes residential buildings with four or fewer units from its definition of facility, and its FAQ says single-family homes are not regulated "under most circumstances." Call (279) 207-1122 for a ruling.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

What else should I know in Elk Grove?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Only Republic or the demolition contractor may haul debris from a home

Republic Services holds Elk Grove's exclusive residential franchise. The City says someone you hire to clean up can clean but cannot haul the trash away. City Code 30.30.090 makes an exception for a contractor hauling construction and demolition debris it generates while doing demolition work at the home, as long as it doesn't bill the removal as a separate hauling service. The same exception excludes debris generated by the resident, so a contractor can't haul away the shed's contents. For any other C&D debris, Chapter 30.70 says it must be hauled by an authorized hauler or by the person who generated it.

A free yearly load to Elder Creek

Each Elk Grove household gets one free dump a year at Republic's Elder Creek Transfer and Recovery Station, up to 5 cubic yards, about a pickup bed. Bring a driver's license or utility bill with your Elk Grove address. The City says the load follows the curbside bulky item list, which excludes construction material, so ask before bringing shed debris.

Metal sheds and a little concrete go to Disposal Lane free

The City's Special Waste Collection Center at 9255 Disposal Lane takes one pickup-bed load a month from Elk Grove residents at no charge. It takes all kinds of large scrap metal and small amounts of concrete without rebar. It refuses treated wood and loads in a business or contractor vehicle. It also takes old paint and chemicals from the shed.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Elk Grove?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, Discard Junk Removal says Elk Grove shed removal starts at $249. Take Care Junk Hauling lists $250 to $500 for small sheds, $500 to $900 for medium and $900 and up for large or slab-based sheds. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559.

What does it cost to haul the debris myself?

GreenWaste's Florin Perkins facility in south Sacramento charges $107 to $120 a ton for mixed C&D, $66 a ton for clean wood and $10 a ton for clean concrete, with a $68 minimum, as of October 1, 2026. Kiefer Landfill charges $35 for a pickup truck load and adds $25 if it isn't covered.

Where do treated floors and posts go?

Pressure-treated wood is common in shed floors and skids. Disposal Lane refuses it. Kiefer Landfill takes treated wood at its hard-to-handle rate of $144.90 a ton, and GreenWaste lists a $247-a-ton treated wood handling fee.

Can I take the shed down myself?
