SHED REMOVAL IN FOLSOM

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Folsom shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Folsom requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Folsom ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Folsom asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Folsom rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Not confirmed. Folsom publishes no shed or demolition permit page, though it adopts the California Building Code and requires a recycling plan for every permitted demolition. Call (916) 461-6201.

City pickup

Partly. Folsom's three free yearly bulky pickups take lumber and metal, up to five cubic yards, but refuse pieces over 6 feet, concrete and composite roofing.

Haul it yourself

Kiefer Landfill (Sacramento County). Fees effective January 1, 2026: pickup truck $35, large van $45 (not weighed). Weighed loads: normal refuse $61.35 a ton; clean wood $115.65 a ton; structures over 8 feet and treated wood $144.90 a ton; mixed inerts $28.45 a ton; $45 minimum. No fee for clean concrete without rebar up to 36 inches, or clean metal 8 feet or shorter. $25 extra for an uncovered load.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: Discard Junk Removal starts Folsom sheds at $249. Take Care Junk Hauling lists $250 to $900+ by size. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559. Four others quote each job.

Do I need a permit?Folsom demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Demolition permit: ask the Building Division

Folsom adopts the California Building Code by reference in City Code 14.02.040, and its local amendments don't change the permit sections. No Folsom page lists a shed size below which a teardown needs no permit, and its 2024 building fee schedule has no demolition line. The City's recycling rules apply to 'all permitted residential and non-residential demolition projects regardless of valuation.' Call Building at (916) 461-6201 before starting.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Folsom pick up shed debris?

Partly, for a small wood or metal shed. Single-family homes get three free bulky appointments a year, up to five cubic yards each, booked online or at 916-461-6730. The list takes lumber, wood and metals, but refuses concrete, composite roofing and any item longer than 6 feet. Keep wood and metal in separate piles, since different trucks collect them. City Code 8.32.250 also caps a pile at 7 by 6 by 3 feet.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

What else should I know in Folsom?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Only City-permitted haulers may haul demolition debris

Folsom's code gives the City the exclusive right to collect solid waste and bars anyone else from collecting it without City Council permission. For C&D debris, the City's September 2025 recycling plan form says only permitted waste hauling companies may provide hauling in Folsom, and the applicant picks one: the City, Atlas, Elk Grove Waste Management, Republic or WM. Chapter 8.30's exemptions cover public agencies, large farms and commercial gardeners. No section read exempts a contractor hauling debris from its own demolition work. The code's Option 2 lets a permit applicant use 'other means,' but the 2025 form doesn't offer it.

Every permitted demolition files a recycling plan

Folsom requires a Waste Management Plan for all permitted residential demolition projects regardless of value, filed with Community Development when the permit is pulled. Covered projects must recycle or reuse 65 percent of their C&D debris by weight. The instructions say an exemption may be granted when a project produces little recyclable material, but the plan must still be filed.

Older buildings in the Historic District get a demolition review

In Folsom's Historic District, tearing down a building built 50 or more years before the demolition permit application needs a historic district demolition application first. Buildings under 50 years old are exempt from that review. If the structure is a potential historic resource, the Historic District Commission decides.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Folsom?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, Discard Junk Removal says Folsom sheds start at $249, with larger ones quoted. Take Care Junk Hauling lists $250 to $500 for small sheds, $500 to $900 for medium and $900 and up for large or slab-based sheds. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559.

What does it cost to haul the debris myself?

Kiefer Landfill in Sloughhouse, the disposal site on Folsom's drop-off list, charges $35 for a pickup truck load. GreenWaste's Florin Perkins facility in Sacramento charges $107 to $120 a ton for mixed C&D and $66 a ton for clean wood, with a $68 minimum, as of October 1, 2026.

Where does a broken-up concrete pad go?

Kiefer takes clean concrete without rebar, up to 36 inches, at no charge. Folsom's drop-off list also names Crete Crush in Rancho Cordova (916-985-2700), a private aggregate recycler, for rock and concrete. GreenWaste charges $10 a ton for clean concrete.

Where do treated floors and skids go?

Among Sacramento County's sites, only Kiefer Landfill takes treated wood, at its hard-to-handle rate of $144.90 a ton. GreenWaste lists a $247-a-ton treated wood handling fee. Keep treated wood out of the bulky pile.

Can I take the shed down and haul it myself?

City Code 8.32.040 lets an owner or tenant carry away their own waste on an occasional basis, following the City's self-haul sorting rules. If the teardown is under a demolition permit, the recycling plan comes first. The City's 2019 fee sheet lists a self-haul option for single-family demolition ($21 for the first 3,000 square feet), but the 2025 plan form asks you to pick a permitted hauler, so ask before you load the truck.

Who tears it down, and who only hauls?

Discard, Take Care, Lake's, Junk Hunter, Simp's and Sac Junk say they do the teardown. Discard says its licensed electrical contractor handles a wired shed. Lake's clears the contents as part of the job and quotes breaking out a slab separately. LoadUp books independent haulers for light disassembly but not jobs needing heavy machinery.
