SHED REMOVAL IN FONTANA

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Fontana shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Fontana requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Fontana ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Fontana asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Fontana rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Not confirmed for small sheds. Fontana issues demolition permits, but no city page or code section says whether a small shed teardown needs one. Ask Building & Safety at (909) 350-7640.

City pickup

Not confirmed for teardown debris. Burrtec's three free bulky pickups a year (five items each) name items like sofas and appliances, not lumber. Ask Burrtec at (909) 822-9739.

Haul it yourself

West Valley MRF/Transfer Station (Burrtec). No drop-off rates are published; ask when you call.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: 911 Junk California lists $400 to $800+ for shed removal. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a Fontana shed, set at booking. The others quote each job or post only junk-load prices.

Do I need a permit?Fontana demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Demolition permit: the code is silent on small sheds

Fontana adopts the 2025 California Building and Residential Codes, including the permit chapter, and its local changes to the permit-exemption list cover only fences and retaining walls. City code sets a 6-month limit on demolition permits, so the city does issue them. Its zoning code defines a shed as under 120 square feet and 8 feet tall, but that definition is about building one and ends with an unclear note on permits. No Fontana page says whether taking a small shed down needs a permit. Ask Building & Safety, 8353 Sierra Avenue, open Monday to Thursday.

02

Demolition debris goes through Burrtec

Fontana's waste plan form says all hauling from construction or demolition work may only be contracted through Burrtec, and city code makes it unlawful to hire a hauler the city hasn't franchised or permitted. Contractors may not self-haul demolition debris. With a building permit you file a Construction Waste Management Plan (or the exemption form) and show that at least 65% of the debris was recycled before final inspection.

03

Asbestos survey before any demolition

South Coast AQMD Rule 1403 covers residential structures and requires an asbestos survey signed by a certified consultant before any demolition. Homeowners file their own demolition notice only when they do the work themselves with no one hired. County disposal sites also want certification for debris from pre-1984 structures.

04

Before you pull posts or footings

Contact DigAlert (811) before digging out piers, posts or a slab, and wait for the marks. Utilities only mark lines they own, so a buried power line or water line run to the shed won't be marked. Have an electrician shut off and disconnect any shed circuit first.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Fontana pick up shed debris?

Not as a teardown, as far as any city page says. Burrtec gives Fontana homes up to three free curbside bulky pickups in 12 months, five items each, booked a week ahead, and the city lists stumps and appliances as examples. Neither the city nor Burrtec says shed lumber or roofing counts, and city rules route demolition hauling through Burrtec bins. Call Burrtec at (909) 822-9739 before you set anything out.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

West Valley MRF/Transfer Station (Burrtec)

13373 Napa Street, Fontana, CA 92335

A Burrtec materials recovery facility and transfer station. San Bernardino County's diversion list says it takes C&D material that is self-hauled or brought in a Burrtec roll-off, and credits it with 79% diversion. Neither source lists accepted materials item by item.

Fees: No drop-off rates are published; ask when you call.

Before you go: Burrtec lists hours Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Its page gives two numbers, (909) 899-5501 and (909) 899-0911; call before you load.

Mid-Valley Landfill (San Bernardino County)

2390 N. Alder Avenue, Rialto, CA 92377

A county landfill that the county lists among its self-haul sites accepting C&D waste. It is one of two county sites that take treated wood waste. County landfills refuse items over 10 feet long, liquids, sealed containers and hazardous waste, and debris from pre-1984 structures needs asbestos certification.

Fees: $13.71 for up to 300 pounds of ordinary residential waste and $61.49 a ton (prorated) from 301 pounds, pricing effective July 1, 2023. Hard-to-handle loads add $53.14 a ton ($26.57 minimum). Uncovered or unsecured loads pay double. Cash, Visa or MasterCard.

Before you go: The county's site map lists hours Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cover and tie down the load. Questions: county Solid Waste Management, (909) 386-8701.

Agua Mansa Transfer Station/MRF (Burrtec)

1830 Agua Mansa Road, Jurupa Valley, CA 92509

A Burrtec transfer station and materials recovery facility. Local recycling lists name it as an approved destination for C&D waste and say it takes clean dirt, concrete and asphalt. Burrtec's page doesn't list what the public may bring.

Fees: Not published. Burrtec's facilities page lists no gate rates.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call (951) 786-0544 for rates and what it accepts before loading up.

What else should I know in Fontana?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Only Burrtec may haul demolition debris

Fontana's code makes it unlawful to hire any waste collector the city hasn't franchised, contracted or permitted (FMC 24-31(b)), and the city's Construction Waste Management Plan form says that under its sole franchise agreement all hauling from construction or demolition work may only be contracted through Burrtec. Construction contractors may not self-haul demolition debris (FMC 24-67(a)). Individuals keep the right to haul their own waste from property they control (24-67(d)), and the form allows residential self-haul only by someone who owns the container and vehicle. On these sources a removal company like Shed Gone is not a permitted hauler, so it can't haul shed debris out of Fontana itself; the debris goes in a Burrtec bin, or the owner hauls it. Burrtec is at (909) 822-9739.

Pre-1984 shed debris needs asbestos paperwork at county sites

San Bernardino County landfills and transfer stations accept debris from structures demolished before 1984 only with certification; newer structures are assumed asbestos free. Friable asbestos isn't taken at any county site. Keep the survey report with the load.

Paint and chemicals go to the city HHW site

Sheds often hold old paint, weed killer and motor oil. Fontana's household hazardous waste site at 16454 Orange Way is open Saturdays 8 a.m. to noon for city residents with ID, up to 15 gallons or 125 pounds a day.

Historic properties need a hearing first

If your property is a listed or proposed historical resource or sits in a historic overlay district, demolition or removal needs a certificate of appropriateness from the City Council. No demolition permit is issued while that hearing or an appeal is pending.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

These are the other companies’ own advertised prices, checked October 9, 2026. They are not our prices and not a citywide average.

When you compare quotes, ask for one written total that covers dismantling, hauling, disposal fees and cleanup, and ask whether the contents, the floor and the slab or footings are included. What shed removal costs ↗

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Fontana?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Of the other companies listed here, 911 Junk California lists $400 to $800 or more and LoadUp $94 to $1,559, set at booking. 911 Junk's own cost guide adds $800 to $3,000 for a shed on a concrete slab.

Can I haul the debris myself?

Fontana code bars contractors from self-hauling demolition debris but doesn't stop residents from taking their own waste to an authorized site in a covered vehicle. An older Burrtec brochure for the city says self-hauling from a construction or demolition site isn't allowed and that homeowners self-hauling recyclables need a city permit. Ask Burrtec at (909) 822-9739 before you load a trailer.

Where can a load of shed debris go?

Mid-Valley Landfill in Rialto charges $13.71 for up to 300 pounds and $61.49 a ton after that, and doubles the fee for an uncovered load. Burrtec's West Valley MRF on Napa Street and its Agua Mansa station in Jurupa Valley take self-hauled C&D for recycling but post no public rates.

Do I need to cut the shed into short pieces?

For a county landfill, yes if anything is over 10 feet; county transfer stations limit pieces to 4 feet. Long wall panels and roof rafters need cutting before the trip.

Who tears it down, and who only hauls?

911 Junk California, Junk Dawgs and CA Junk Masters describe taking sheds apart, and M&Ms lists sheds among what it removes in Fontana. Inland Haul lists sheds under demolition work and won't load anything that might be asbestos. LoadUp says light disassembly may be needed and jobs needing heavy machinery or a big demolition crew may be outside its scope.

Can the old shed be rebuilt somewhere else on the lot?

Fontana's zoning code keeps sheds to 8 feet tall and 120 square feet, one per 7,200 square feet of lot, with set side and rear setbacks. Check those before you pick the new spot.
