SHED REMOVAL IN MANTECA

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Manteca shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Manteca requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Manteca ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Manteca asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Manteca rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Likely yes. Manteca's fee schedule lists a $56 small residential demolition permit for patio covers and sheds; its 120 sq ft no-permit rule is for building a shed. Confirm at 209-456-8550.

City pickup

No. The free yearly Community Cleanup bin is 2 cubic yards and refuses items over 3 feet, composition roofing, cement and bricks. A City roll-off is the curbside option for shed debris.

Haul it yourself

Lovelace Materials Recovery Facility and Transfer Station (San Joaquin County). Price sheet effective Jan. 1, 2026: pickup with an 8-foot bed or trailer 8 feet or less, $38.50 at or below cab level and $57.75 above it; vehicles charged by weight $78.78 a ton (minimum $38.50); large bulky or hard-to-handle items such as large wooden or metal beams $123.97 a ton. Uncovered loads pay double or buy a tarp.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in San Joaquin County. Send It Hauling, Toss Out Junk Removal, Servant King and One Strong Man each quote the shed after a look or photos.

Do I need a permit?Manteca demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

A small demolition permit for the shed

Manteca's Development Fee Schedule (effective August 15, 2026) lists a demolition permit for small residential structures such as a patio cover or shed at $56, against $128 for a single-family home. Building Safety's FAQ lists one-story tool and storage sheds up to 120 square feet as exempt from a building permit, and its accessory building handout adds an 8-foot height limit, but both describe building, not removal. Apply through the City's online Citizen Access portal.

02

Wiring and plumbing need their own permits

The City's FAQ says electrical or plumbing work in a shed requires a permit even when the shed itself is exempt, and that replacing water and sewer pipes needs permits. If a circuit or water line runs to the shed, ask Building Safety which permit covers disconnecting it. Call 800-227-2600 before digging out posts or footings.

03

C&D recycling applies to large projects

Municipal Code 13.02.120 requires contractors to recycle all recyclable construction materials, such as concrete, clean wood waste and scrap metal, on construction and demolition projects over 5,000 square feet, using a separate container approved by the director. A single shed is far smaller. Building permits may still ask for the City's CALGreen Construction Waste Management Plan form.

04

Asbestos release before a demolition permit

The San Joaquin Valley Air District requires a Demolition Permit Release form for any demolition that needs a building department demolition permit, and the form covers a single residence and its out-structures. Manteca's FAQ warns that rigid siding may contain asbestos and says to test before removal. Manteca is served by the Northern Region office in Modesto, (209) 557-6400.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Manteca pick up shed debris?

Not through regular service. Account holders get one free 2-cubic-yard Community Cleanup bin a year, delivered for one night, but it refuses items over 3 feet long, composition roofing, and dirt, sod, cement, rock, tile, bricks and asphalt. Three free extra-garbage stickers a year cover 32-gallon bags only. The City also offers a special service pick-up for large amounts of waste, priced on site. For a whole shed, the City rents roll-off bins from 10 to 40 yards. Call Waste Management, 209-456-8440.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Lovelace Materials Recovery Facility and Transfer Station (San Joaquin County)

County-run transfer station open to self-haulers seven days a week. It takes commercial and household waste, small loads of concrete, soil, rocks, gravel or asphalt, and large bulky items. It is a drop-off site for the County C&D Recycling Program.

North County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill (San Joaquin County)

17720 E. Harney Lane, Lodi, CA 95240

The County's main landfill since Foothill closed in 2026. It lists construction/demolition waste and commercial and household waste as acceptable, and takes large wooden or metal beams, pressure-treated wood and creosote-coated wood at a special handling rate. Large loads of soil or gravel are refused. Its C&D Recycling Program sorts clean, separated loads of wood, metal and asphalt shingles from permitted projects in the county.

Fees: Price sheet effective Jan. 1, 2026: pickup with an 8-foot bed or trailer 8 feet or less, $32.50 at or below cab level and $44.50 above it; vehicles charged by weight $60.93 a ton (minimum $32.50); large bulky or hard-to-handle items, including pressure-treated wood, $123.97 a ton. Sims Metal (Stockton yard)

1000 South Aurora Street, Stockton, CA 95206

Scrap metal yard that buys steel, iron, aluminum and other metals from the general public, and takes jobsite scrap and metal from demolition projects. Good for a metal shed's panels and frame once they are taken apart. It doesn't say it takes wood, roofing or mixed debris.

Fees: It pays for scrap; prices are not published.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon; closed Sunday. Call (209) 948-4000.

What else should I know in Manteca?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Only the City may collect demolition debris

Manteca runs its own trash service. Municipal Code 13.02.040 gives the City 'the exclusive right and duty' to provide solid waste collection inside city limits, and the chapter uses the state definition of solid waste, which includes demolition and construction wastes. The only written exception lets residential customers haul occasional loads from their own premises to a legal disposal site. Unlike Stockton's code, there is no exception for contractors hauling debris from their own jobs. Nothing says whether a removal company may haul debris from a shed it tears down. Ask the Waste Management Division, 209-456-8440, before booking.

Free District Cleanup Events

Once a quarter, each council district gets a free cleanup event at the Waste Management corp yard, 210 E. Wetmore St. Bring a utility bill and ID, unload your own load, and come in one truck with a trailer up to 8 feet. The list of accepted items covers bulky items, household trash, e-waste, mattresses, green waste and up to 9 tires; lumber and building debris aren't listed.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Manteca?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in San Joaquin County, lower if it's already taken apart. Send It Hauling, Toss Out Junk Removal, Servant King and One Strong Man all quote the job after an on-site look or photos.

How much is a City roll-off for shed debris?

The City's residential roll-off takes a $700 prepaid deposit; the $520.13 pull fee and $64.87 a ton for tipping come out of it, and you keep the bin two weeks. Composition roofing must go in a 16-yard bin, wood shake can go in 16 to 40 yards, and cement without rebar goes in a dedicated 10-yard bin.

Where can I haul shed debris myself?

Lovelace Transfer Station is in town on E. Lovelace Road: a pickup with an 8-foot bed costs $38.50 at or below the cab and $57.75 above it, or $78.78 a ton. North County Landfill on E. Harney Lane near Lodi charges $32.50 and $44.50, or $60.93 a ton. Both are open daily 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., take no cash, and double the fee for an untarped load.

What about treated wood and asphalt shingles?

Lovelace refuses pressure-treated and creosote-coated wood and some types of construction debris. North County takes treated wood at the special handling rate of $123.97 a ton. The County asks for roofing to be separated into clean loads of asphalt shingles, wood and other materials.

Where does a metal shed go?

Sims Metal at 1000 South Aurora Street in Stockton buys steel and other scrap from the public and takes metal from demolition projects. It is open weekdays 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday mornings.

Who tears the shed down, and who only hauls?

Send It Hauling, based in the Manteca area, tears down small to medium sheds that two people can safely take apart. Toss Out Junk Removal dismantles wood, metal and vinyl sheds and clears the foundation, but won't disconnect utilities. Servant King, a C-21 demolition contractor, coordinates permits. One Strong Man takes down walls, roofing and flooring and hauls the debris.

Does an HOA matter?

It can. The City's FAQ says planned communities with their own CC&Rs may have stricter rules than the City, and those rules are enforced by other owners, not the City. Check with your association before taking down or replacing a shed.
