SHED REMOVAL IN TRACY

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Tracy shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Tracy requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Tracy ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Tracy asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Tracy rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Likely not for a small shed. Tracy requires a demolition permit for anything that needed a permit to build, and sheds up to 120 sq ft didn't. Larger sheds: $191 permit.

City pickup

No. Tracy Disposal's free Annual Residential Clean-Up won't take construction debris, dirt, rock or concrete. A rented Tracy Disposal bin is the curbside option.

Haul it yourself

Tracy Material Recovery Facility & Solid Waste Transfer. Public pricing: full-size long-bed truck $57 small, $76 medium, $105 large load; full-size short-bed truck $49, $67, $84; mini or compact truck $41, $49, $67. Garbage by weight $105 a ton; clean wood by weight $105 a ton. The $41 minimum for one cubic yard or less doesn't apply to heavy, construction and demolition materials.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in San Joaquin County. Send It Hauling, Toss Out Junk Removal, Servant King and One Strong Man each quote the shed after seeing it or photos.

Do I need a permit?Tracy demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

When a shed needs a demolition permit

Building Safety's homeowner guide says a permit is required to demolish any item that required a permit to build. The same guide lists one-story detached tool and storage sheds up to 120 square feet, with a roof deck no higher than 11 feet 7 inches, as exempt from a building permit. A larger shed takes a residential demolition permit, $191 under the FY26-27 fee schedule, with a 5-working-day review. Homeowners can pull permits as owner-builders. Building Safety: (209) 831-6400.

02

Asbestos clearance before a demolition permit

Tracy requires proof of compliance with, or exemption from, the asbestos demolition rules before it issues a demolition permit. The San Joaquin Valley Air District's Demolition Permit Release form covers a single home and its out-structures. Old siding or roofing may contain asbestos. Air District Northern Region: (209) 557-6400.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Tracy pick up shed debris?

Not a shed teardown. Each home inside city limits gets one free Annual Residential Clean-Up a year from Tracy Disposal: up to ten 32-gallon bags and two large furniture or appliance items, booked at (209) 835-0601. The prohibited list includes construction debris, and dirt, rock, concrete, asphalt and tile. Extra pickups cost a fee. For a whole shed, Tracy Disposal rents bins from 1.5 yards up, and lists its 10-yard roll-off for garage or shed decluttering; prices aren't posted.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

What else should I know in Tracy?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Only the franchised hauler may haul demolition debris

Tracy Municipal Code 5.20.060 reserves to the City the exclusive right to collect and haul construction and demolition debris, and 5.20.070 gives that right to the City's franchise contractor, Tracy Disposal (Tracy Delta Solid Waste Management). Section 5.20.080 lets you haul debris from your own home, and lets a contractor self-haul debris from its own work with its own crew and trucks. That exception does not cover businesses whose primary business is waste disposal, transportation or collection, and it bars independent haulers. A junk removal company likely falls outside it; a licensed demolition contractor may not. Ask the City (main line (209) 831-6000) before booking.

Tracy's debris goes to the Tracy MRF

The same code section directs anyone hauling construction and demolition debris generated in Tracy to deliver it to the Tracy MRF, at 30703 S. MacArthur Drive south of Linne Road. Use the first gate for the scales. It is open weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and takes cash, business checks and cards, but not personal checks.

Clear out paint and chemicals first

Tracy and San Joaquin County hold a free Household Hazardous Waste event in Tracy each spring (May 30, 2026 at City Hall). The rest of the year, the County HHW facility at 7850 R.A. Bridgeford Street in Stockton takes paint, pesticides and other shed chemicals free for county residents, Thursday to Sunday. Carry no more than 15 gallons or 125 pounds per trip.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Tracy?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in San Joaquin County, lower if it's already taken apart. Send It Hauling, Toss Out Junk Removal, Servant King and One Strong Man all quote the job after an on-site look or photos.

Where can I haul shed debris myself?

Tracy Material Recovery prices public loads by truck: a full-size long-bed truck costs $57 for a small load, $76 medium and $105 large, and a short bed $49 to $84. Garbage by weight is $105 a ton. The $41 minimum doesn't apply to heavy, construction and demolition materials. It accepts construction and demolition debris and wood waste, but not asbestos or railroad ties.

Is clean shed lumber cheaper to dump?

Not at Tracy Material Recovery: clean, uncontaminated wood is $105 a ton, the same as garbage. Lovelace Transfer Station in Manteca charges $38.50 for an 8-foot pickup bed at or below the cab, but it refuses some construction and demolition waste and all pressure-treated or creosote-coated wood.

Where does a metal shed go?

Once the panels and frame are apart, Sims Metal at 1000 South Aurora Street in Stockton buys steel and other scrap from the public and takes metal from demolition projects. It is open weekdays 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday mornings.

What happens to the concrete slab?

The Annual Residential Clean-Up won't take concrete. Lovelace takes small loads of concrete but not large ones. Toss Out Junk Removal includes concrete pads and gravel bases in its shed job, and Servant King offers slab removal as an option.

Who tears the shed down, and who only hauls?

Send It Hauling tears down small to medium sheds that two people can safely take apart. Toss Out Junk Removal dismantles wood, metal and vinyl sheds and clears the foundation, but won't disconnect gas or power. Servant King, a C-21 demolition contractor, coordinates permits. One Strong Man takes down the walls, roof and floor and hauls the lumber.
