SHED REMOVAL IN OXNARD

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Oxnard shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Oxnard requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Oxnard ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Oxnard asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Oxnard rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Likely yes. Oxnard's fee schedule charges $88.20 to inspect the demolition of an accessory structure, plus a $45 issuance fee. The 120 sq ft exemption covers building a shed, not removing one. Call 805-385-7925.

City pickup

No. The free yearly bulky pickup takes up to five household items like furniture and appliances. The City's Waste Wizard sends construction debris to Del Norte, where fees apply.

Haul it yourself

Del Norte Regional Recycling & Transfer Station. Rates effective July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027: construction and demolition $139.92 per ton; solid waste $108.69 per ton; hard-to-handle bulky items $135 per ton; minimum charge $30.14 up to half a ton. Loads from outside the operating city's limits pay $4 more per ton. Credit card payments carry a 2.35% service fee.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Ventura County. Prestige charges a $100 to $350 demolition fee plus $245 to $275 per quarter truckload. Others quote each shed.

Do I need a permit?Oxnard demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Demolition permit and fee

Oxnard adopts the California Building Code, and its July 2026 fee schedule has a demolition permit fee: $88.20 for accessory structures and other structures that don't provide development credits, or $147 when a sewer cap, electrical disconnect or similar work is needed. Each permit also carries a $45 issuance fee, and plan review for a demolition is 85% of the building permit fee. Oxnard's exempt-work handout lets you build a shed of 120 square feet or less, 8 feet tall or less, with no utilities and out of the front yard, without a permit; it says nothing about tearing one down.

02

Air District asbestos rule

The Ventura County Air Pollution Control District regulates demolitions under Rule 62.7. A written notice is required for any demolition where asbestos-containing material is present. For homes with four or fewer units there is no 10-day wait and no fee, but the notice must reach the District before work starts. The rule doesn't apply when a single-unit homeowner does the work on their own home.

03

Sheds with wiring or plumbing

Oxnard's permit list says a detached shed over 120 square feet of roof may not have regulated plumbing or mechanical equipment, and electrical fixture replacement needs a permit. The fee schedule's higher demolition rate applies when electrical disconnects or a sewer cap are part of the job, so tell the Building and Engineering Division about any power or water to the shed.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Oxnard pick up shed debris?

Not as part of regular service. The free yearly bulky pickup, and extra pickups at $47.74 for up to five items, are for household items like furniture, appliances and mattresses, with extra fees for hard-to-handle items. The City's Waste Wizard says construction debris, rocks and concrete must be self-hauled to Del Norte. For a whole teardown, rent a City roll-off bin or hire a crew that hauls its own debris.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

What else should I know in Oxnard?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Only the City may collect trash, but whoever tears the shed down may haul it

Oxnard runs its own trash service, and its code says only the City or its authorized representatives may collect, remove and dispose of solid waste, including construction and demolition waste. There are two exceptions. A business with a City business license for waste hauling may haul C&D debris from roll-off boxes. And an owner may haul their own debris or hire the person who did the work that created it, so a crew that dismantles the shed may haul the debris it made. A hauler-only service that didn't do the teardown isn't covered by that exception.

The City rents its own roll-off bins

Because the City is the hauler, Oxnard's bins come from Public Works. A 2-yard bin is $63.12 for two weeks but takes no roofing tiles or concrete. The 13.4-yard bin, sized for household projects and moderate construction waste, costs $326.94 plus $139.92 a ton for C&D. Call (805) 385-8060 with 48 hours' notice for small bins.

Free Del Norte Drop-Off Days take lumber and scrap metal

A few Saturdays a year, Oxnard residents can drop bulky items at Del Norte for free from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a utility bill or ID. The accepted list includes lumber and wood and scrap metal, but rocks, concrete, dirt and construction materials are turned away. The next dates listed are November 14, 2026 and April 17, 2027. Businesses can't use these events.

A recycling plan comes before a building permit

Oxnard's permits page says a C&D Waste Management Plan must be submitted and approved by the Environmental Resources Division before a building permit is issued, followed by a report with weight slips after the debris is removed. Ask the Building and Engineering Division whether a shed demolition permit triggers it.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Oxnard?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, Prestige Junk Removal charges a $100 to $350 demolition fee plus $245 to $275 for each quarter of its truck the debris fills. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Ventura County, lower if it's already taken apart. AAA Hauling says its free quotes include travel, labor and disposal, based on truck space. Jedi Junk Removal gives a quick quote after seeing the shed.

What does it cost to haul the debris myself?

Del Norte charges $139.92 a ton for construction and demolition debris, with a $30.14 minimum for up to half a ton. Gold Coast in Ventura lists C&D at $93.18 a ton with a $37.84 minimum, and Toland Road Landfill near Santa Paula charges $49.69 a ton with a $43.06 minimum. Call ahead, since Gold Coast's fee page is undated.

Can I hire any hauler to take the debris away?

Oxnard's code lets an owner hire only the person who did the work that created the waste to haul it, unless the hauler holds a City waste-hauling business license for roll-off boxes. So the crew that tears the shed down can haul it away, but a separate pickup-only service may not qualify. Call Environmental Resources at (805) 385-8060 if you're unsure.

Where does a metal shed go?

SA Recycling on Mountain View Avenue buys steel and aluminum scrap from the public; bring a photo ID. Free Del Norte Drop-Off Days also take scrap metal from Oxnard residents.

What about the concrete slab?

Concrete isn't taken at the free drop-off days or in curbside carts. The City's 10-yard bin is made for dirt and concrete only, at $326.94 plus disposal by the ton. Prestige Junk Removal says concrete foundations, paver pads and gravel bases cost extra.

Who tears it down, and who only hauls?

AAA Hauling, STUFF Junk Removal and Jedi Junk Removal all take sheds apart before hauling; Jedi cuts the shed into pieces and loads it. Prestige removes wood, metal and resin sheds with their contents. Essential Hauling lists shed removal and demolition among its services.
