SHED REMOVAL IN LAKEWOOD

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Lakewood shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Lakewood requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Lakewood ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Lakewood asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Lakewood rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes, over 200 sq ft: a demolition permit plus a recycling plan with weight tickets. Lakewood's code exempts sheds of 200 sq ft or less from permits but doesn't name teardown; call 303-987-7500.

City pickup

No. Lakewood runs no trash service; you hire a private hauler or use your HOA's. Plan on a removal company, a roll-off or a landfill trip.

Haul it yourself

Foothills Landfill (Republic Services). 2026 gate sheet: car $44; pickup filled to top of cab $105 (about $134 with fees); trailers $38.50 per yard, 5-yard minimum; shingle loads of 5+ yards $40 per yard. Fuel and environmental fees are added. Uncovered loads pay double.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: Published shed prices start at $349 (Denver Junk Solutions), $799 (Junk Same Day) and $999 (JK Hauling & Demo). LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 at booking.

Do I need a permit?Lakewood demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Demolition permit and the 200-square-foot exemption

Lakewood's residential code amendment exempts one-story detached tool and storage sheds of 200 square feet or less from permits (Municipal Code 14.09.040). The city's exemption sheet opens by saying no structure may be removed or demolished without a permit, except as specified, but it doesn't name teardown of a small shed. Bigger sheds need an Accessory Building demolition permit in eTRAKiT, and the application includes proof that utilities are disconnected. Ask the permit counter (303-987-7500, PermitCounter@LakewoodCO.gov) about a small shed.

02

Keep weight tickets for the recycling plan

Lakewood's code requires a demolition waste management plan with any building demolition permit, and the city's table lists accessory building demolition with no minimum size. Concrete, asphalt, metal and untreated wood must be recycled or reused where viable. You build the plan in Green Halo (the free plan is enough), upload weight tickets or donation receipts, and submit it within 60 days after the permit closes. The $1-per-square-foot deposit is tied to Major Site Plan projects.

03

Wiring, water and digging

Lakewood says a small exempt shed with electrical service still needs an electrical permit to install, and a plumbing permit for a hose bib or sink. It doesn't say what removing them needs, so ask the permit counter or a licensed electrician. Before digging out posts or footings, Colorado law requires a Colorado 811 request at least two full business days ahead; private lines, like a buried feed to the shed, aren't marked.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Foothills Landfill (Republic Services)

8900 Highway 93, Golden, CO 80403

Residents may bring trash and clean-up debris for a fee based on volume and waste type. The 2026 gate sheet has a separate per-yard rate for shingle loads. It accepts only non-hazardous waste and refuses liquids, paint, tires, chemicals, batteries, friable asbestos and electronics.

Fees: 2026 gate sheet: car $44; pickup filled to top of cab $105 (about $134 with fees); trailers $38.50 per yard, 5-yard minimum; shingle loads of 5+ yards $40 per yard. Fuel and environmental fees are added. Uncovered loads pay double.

Before you go: Call (303) 371-5115 to confirm rates. Open Mon–Fri 6:30 a.m.–5 p.m. and Sat 7 a.m.–1 p.m.; hand unloading stops 30 minutes before closing. Wear or buy a safety vest and cover the load.

Colorado Aggregate Recycling, Foothills yard

8900 Highway 93, Golden, CO 80403

Takes concrete rubble with or without rebar or wire mesh, plus cinder block and brick, for recycling. Loads with wood, plastic, trash, asphalt shingles, drywall, insulation or excess dirt are treated as contaminated and rejected. All loads are inspected before dumping.

Fees: Clean concrete $25 per pickup or pickup-and-trailer; concrete with rebar, wire or steel $100; heavily reinforced $200. Clean asphalt is free. Dumping without inspection costs an extra $300.

Before you go: Call (720) 602-0202 before hauling. Keep slab chunks separate from shed lumber and shingles, and stop for inspection before you dump.

Quail Street Recycling Center

1068 Quail St., Lakewood, CO 80226

City drop-off for sorted, clean recyclables, including scrap metal and cardboard. It does not take wood, shingles or mixed debris.

Fees: Free and open to everyone; donations accepted.

Before you go: Bring only what fits in a car or small pickup; trailers are not allowed. Enter heading north on Quail Street. Mon to Sat 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and 1:15 to 4 p.m. Message line 303-987-7974.

Rooney Road Recycling Center

151 S. Rooney Road, Golden, CO 80401

Household hazardous waste drop-off for things like paint, stains, pesticides, motor oil, batteries and propane cylinders. It is not for building debris.

Fees: Jefferson County residents with proof of residency: $30 co-pay for up to 75 pounds, then $2.03 a pound. Out-of-county: $127.60 co-pay. House paint (up to 200 gallons), car batteries and motor oil are free. Large propane cylinders are $40.70 each.

Before you go: Book online; it's open by appointment only, Wednesdays and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Questions: 303-316-6262.

What else should I know in Lakewood?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

A Lakewood mailing address doesn't always mean city rules

Lakewood permits and the recycling plan apply only inside city limits. Jefferson County's Address Lookup shows whether an address is in a city or in unincorporated county land. If it's unincorporated, the county's Building Safety office (303-271-8260) handles it.

A free city drop-off for metal shed panels

The city's Quail Street Recycling Center (1068 Quail St.) takes sorted scrap metal free, Monday to Saturday. It only accepts what fits in a car or small pickup, and no trailers. That suits a taken-apart steel or aluminum kit shed, not mixed debris.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

What will it cost? How shed removal is priced, and what other local companies publish.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

Other companies’ advertised prices

Three companies that serve Lakewood publish a shed price: Denver Junk Solutions from $349, Junk Same Day from $799 and JK Hauling & Demo from $999. LoadUp shows a $94 to $1,559 range and sets the price at booking. College HUNKS publishes only general junk-load prices, and the rest quote each job. None of these prices says it covers a Lakewood permit or recycling paperwork.

Denver Junk Solutions ↗

From $349

Shed tear-down starts at $349. The final price is the yards of debris ($149 for the first 2 cubic yards, then $75 a yard) plus the tear-down. Shingles add $25 a yard; a carry over 100 ft adds $40.

JK Hauling & Demo ↗

From $999

Lists shed removal and demolition starting at $999, quoted up front. Its separate half-trailer junk-load price is general volume pricing, not a shed price.

Junk Same Day ↗

From $799

Starts at $799 for a small shed up to 8x10. Medium wood sheds are $899 to $1,299 and large sheds $1,299 to $1,899. Extra-large sheds or sheds on a slab run $1,899 to $2,800 or more.

LoadUp ↗

$94–$1,559

The shed page gives a $94 to $1,559 range. The real price is shown when you book online, and it's lower for a shed that's already taken apart. Its national shed page says removal typically starts around $1,555; its local pages say an already-disassembled shed costs less.

These are the other companies’ own advertised prices, checked October 8, 2026. They are not our prices and not a citywide average.

When you compare quotes, ask for one written total that covers dismantling, hauling, disposal fees and cleanup, and ask whether the contents, the floor and the slab or footings are included. What shed removal costs ↗

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

Which load goes where if I haul it myself?

Lakewood's own resource list names Foothills Landfill on Highway 93 as the closest landfill; take wood, shingles and mixed debris there. Clean concrete goes next door to Colorado Aggregate Recycling, which rejects loads with wood or shingles. Steel or aluminum panels can go free to Quail Street. Keep the weight tickets if you have a permit.

Who tears the shed down, and who only hauls it?

Denver Junk Solutions, Junk Same Day, JK Hauling & Demo, Mile High Haul-Off, Rockies Cleanouts and Altitude Hauling advertise full teardown. LoadUp says light disassembly may be needed and big demolition jobs may be outside its scope. College HUNKS lists storage sheds among items it hauls but doesn't describe teardown, so ask.

Will the company handle the permit and weight tickets?

Don't assume it. None of the listed companies' shed pages says it pulls a Lakewood demolition permit or files the Green Halo plan. If your shed needs a permit, ask who applies and get every landfill and recycler ticket from the crew.

What do I do with the concrete pad?

Ask before you book. Junk Same Day breaks out a pad as a paid add-on. Mile High Haul-Off may refer concrete pads to a specialist. Denver Junk Solutions calls a poured slab a separate, heavier job. If you break it up yourself, Colorado Aggregate Recycling charges $25 a pickup load for clean concrete.

My shed has power. What happens to the wire?

Have it made safe before the crew comes. Denver Junk Solutions asks that power be disconnected at the breaker first. A Lakewood demolition permit application asks for proof that utilities are disconnected.
