SHED REMOVAL IN SECURITY-WIDEFIELD

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Security-Widefield shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Security-Widefield requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Security-Widefield ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Security-Widefield asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Security-Widefield rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes for most sheds: PPRBD, which issues permits for unincorporated El Paso County, requires a $30 wrecking permit to remove a whole structure. Its small-shed exemption is written for building, so call 719-327-2880.

City pickup

No. Security-Widefield has no city or county trash service, and its water districts don't collect trash. Private haulers set bulky rules; SoCo Waste, for example, points construction debris to its roll-off dumpsters.

Haul it yourself

Waste Connections Colorado Springs Transfer Station. The rate and hours tables on its page are labelled for other landfills, so no reliable local rate is recorded here.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in El Paso County. Sherpa Guys, College HUNKS and Pikes Peak publish general junk rates from $99 to $110; Junk Ops and Junk-N-Haul quote each job.

Do I need a permit?Security-Widefield demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Wrecking permit: what PPRBD asks for

PPRBD requires a wrecking permit when an entire structure is removed, and the fee is $30. Its checklist asks for a licensed wrecking contractor ID, insurance that includes explosion, collapse and underground (XCU) coverage, proof that gas and electric service were cut off by the utility, and a state health department permit for asbestos and debris removal (CDPHE, 303-692-3100).

02

Small sheds: the code doesn't settle it

The regional code says no structure may be demolished without a permit unless the work is exempt. Its exempt list includes one-story detached accessory structures of 200 sq ft or less that sit directly on grade, but that list is titled Construction and Installations, and the wrecking checklist gives no size limit. Ask PPRBD before tearing down even a small shed.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Security-Widefield pick up shed debris?

No. There is no city here, and El Paso County doesn't collect trash; the county directory tells residents to call their own trash company. SoCo Waste, one private hauler, asks you to call ahead for bulk pickups, won't take concrete or bricks in the can, and points construction debris to its roll-off dumpsters. No hauler page reviewed mentions shed lumber. Plan on a removal company, a dumpster, or a self-haul trip.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Waste Connections Colorado Springs Transfer Station

3650 Bradley Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80911

Formerly the Durham/RAD Landfill. Its accepted list includes dry waste, municipal solid waste, treated lumber and tree branches; it does not take liquid paint, propane tanks, motor oil or antifreeze. Construction debris and whole sheds are not named, so call first.

Fees: The rate and hours tables on its page are labelled for other landfills, so no reliable local rate is recorded here.

Before you go: Call 719-390-1859 to confirm public hours, what it takes and how a pickup or trailer load is charged.

WM Midway Landfill

8925 Rancho Colorado Boulevard, Fountain, CO 80817

WM lists construction and demolition debris, municipal solid waste and yard waste as accepted, and says the landfill serves El Paso County and northern Pueblo County. Appliances are taken for recycling at an extra charge. No hazardous or liquid waste.

Fees: No public rates are published on the page reviewed.

Before you go: Call 719-382-8383 before loading to confirm homeowner self-haul and the rate. Listed hours: Mon-Fri 7 a.m.-5 p.m., closed Saturday and Sunday.

Fountain Landfill (Waste Connections)

10525 Squirrel Creek Rd, Fountain, CO 80817

About two miles east of Fountain. Waste Connections says it accepts municipal solid waste and construction/demolition waste and serves the metro area and nearby towns.

Fees: The rate and hours tables on the page reviewed are labelled for other landfills, so no reliable local rate is recorded here.

Before you go: Call 719-382-9661 to confirm public hours, acceptance and pricing before loading.

Baseland Recycling

7690 Sterling Ranch Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80908

A concrete and asphalt recycler. It always accepts clean concrete slabs, broken concrete and rubble. Loads with wood, metal (other than embedded rebar), drywall or mixed demolition debris need assessment first. It refuses treated or painted wood, asbestos-containing material and household waste. It does not take whole sheds.

Fees: Clean concrete with no rebar: free. Concrete with rebar or wire: $40 single axle, $50 tandem, $60 end or side dump. Mixed or dirty loads: call for pricing.

Before you go: Clean concrete can come in during scale-house hours (Mon-Fri 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; call to confirm Saturday). For anything else call 719-424-9797 first. The published fees are listed by truck type, so ask how a pickup or trailer load is charged.

What else should I know in Security-Widefield?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Not a city: El Paso County and PPRBD make the rules

Security-Widefield is an unincorporated area of El Paso County south of Colorado Springs, not a city, so there is no town hall or city building office. Building and wrecking permits come from the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department (PPRBD, 2880 International Circle, 719-327-2880), which covers unincorporated El Paso County. Zoning, junk and dumping complaints go to El Paso County. Colorado Springs city rules, such as the extra grading permit PPRBD lists for demolition inside city limits, do not apply here.

No county hauler license or franchise found

We found no El Paso County rule that licenses trash or debris haulers or gives one company the right to haul demolition debris in unincorporated areas. The county runs no trash service: its recycling directory tells residents to call their current trash company and lists several private haulers, including junk removal companies. This is not confirmed against the county code; ask El Paso County Planning and Community Development (719-520-6300).

County cleanup events

El Paso County Code Enforcement holds free Community Cleanup Events in selected neighborhoods of unincorporated El Paso County. Its list names tires, appliances, mattresses, electronics and furniture, not lumber or shed debris, so ask before bringing a torn-down shed.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Security-Widefield?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies serving the area, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in El Paso County, lower if it's already taken apart. College HUNKS lists $99 to $699 by truck space, Sherpa Guys lists a $99 minimum and $450 to $575 for a full trailer, and Pikes Peak Junk Removal has a $110 minimum. Those are general junk rates, not shed prices.

Can I tear down my own shed without a contractor?

Yes, with conditions. The regional code lets the owner of a house or its accessory structure wreck it without a license if the owner carries the same property damage, liability and XCU insurance required of a wrecking contractor. A homeowner can pull permits only for the home they own and live in, and can't pull one for a contractor they hired.

Where can I take shed lumber and shingles myself?

Waste Connections' transfer station on Bradley Road lists dry waste and treated lumber. WM's Midway Landfill and the Fountain Landfill both list construction and demolition debris. The El Paso County Transfer Station on Laramie Drive, privately owned, lists wood, lumber and roofing shingles and wants every load tarped. Call ahead; none of them publishes a reliable homeowner rate.

Can clean shed lumber be recycled?

Sometimes. The county's recycling directory lists Rocky Top Resources on East Las Vegas Street for untreated lumber, for a fee, and says it won't take treated lumber or railroad ties. It also lists Galvanize Recycling for construction debris and old wood fences. Call to confirm acceptance and fees.

What do I do with the concrete slab?

Break it up and keep it clean. Baseland Recycling takes clean concrete at no charge; concrete with rebar or wire costs $40 to $60 depending on the truck. It refuses treated or painted wood, and loads mixed with wood or metal need a call first (719-424-9797). The county directory also lists Colorado Aggregate Recycling (719-458-5522) for concrete and pavers.

Can I leave the torn-down shed in a pile for a while?

Not for long. El Paso County prohibits outdoor accumulation of rubbish in unincorporated areas and acts on complaints. Keep the debris moving to a truck, dumpster or drop-off.
