SHED REMOVAL IN THORNTON

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Thornton shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Thornton requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Thornton ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Thornton asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Thornton rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes, plan on one. Thornton requires a permit to demolish any structure, and the demolition permit fee is $50. Its no-permit list for sheds under 200 square feet doesn't mention removal.

City pickup

Partly. Click & Haul lists storage shed cleanups and remodeling debris, $72 for up to 6 cubic yards, but no concrete, gravel or masonry. Call 720-977-6200 before setting out a whole shed.

Haul it yourself

Tower Landfill (Republic Services). 2026 gate prices before fees: pickup filled to top of cab $105; filled over cab under 6 feet $120; over 6 feet or trailers $38.50 per yard (5-yard minimum); shingles $40 per yard (5+ yards); stump/concrete over 3 feet $72 per yard. Fuel, environmental and user fees are added.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: Denver Junk Solutions starts at $349, Junk Same Day at $799 and JK Hauling & Demo at $999. LoadUp lists $94 to $1,559. The other three quote per job.

Do I need a permit?Thornton demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Demolition permit: required, and no shed exemption is published

Thornton says a building permit is required to erect, alter, move, demolish or repair any structure in the city, and its 2026 fee schedule lists a $50 demolition permit. Its own handouts give different no-permit sizes for building a shed (under 200 square feet on the permit list, under 120 on the sheds handout), and neither mentions demolition. Call the Building Division at 303-538-7250 with the shed's size before it comes down.

02

Wiring, gas or water: make it safe first

Thornton lists electrical modifications and gas lines among work that needs a permit, and no city page covers abandoning a shed circuit. If the shed has power, gas or water, have a licensed trade make it safe and ask about the permit before demolition. Denver Junk Solutions asks for power to be shut off at the breaker and says it will not cut a live line.

03

Digging out footings or posts: call 811

Colorado 811 says you are legally required to contact it at least three business days before you dig, whatever the project's size. That covers pulling concrete piers, post footings or a slab edge. Privately owned lines, such as a buried feed to the shed, are not marked.

04

Unincorporated Adams County has its own list

If your lot is outside city limits, Adams County's 2022 permit list says storage sheds of 200 square feet or less do not need a building permit, and larger ones do. That list covers building, not demolition. Ask the county's Building Safety team at 720-523-6800.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Thornton pick up shed debris?

Partly, through Click & Haul. Thornton names cleaning out a storage shed as a use and accepts remodeling debris and fence panels. It costs $72 for up to 6 cubic yards (about two pickup beds) and $121 for three to four, billed to your utility account. Stack and bundle the pieces on the street, not the yard, driveway or sidewalk, by 7 a.m. Concrete, gravel, dirt and masonry are excluded. The page does not name a whole dismantled shed, so call Environmental Services at 720-977-6200 first and ask about anything over 3 to 4 pickup beds.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Tower Landfill (Republic Services)

19260 E. 88th Ave, Commerce City, CO 80022

Fees: 2026 gate prices before fees: pickup filled to top of cab $105; filled over cab under 6 feet $120; over 6 feet or trailers $38.50 per yard (5-yard minimum); shingles $40 per yard (5+ yards); stump/concrete over 3 feet $72 per yard. Fuel, environmental and user fees are added.

Fees: Pickup with waste below the top of the cab $175; above the cab $236. Wood, concrete, siding and shingles $98 a ton, $196 minimum. Uncovered or unsecured loads are charged double.

Before you go: Call 303-673-9431 with questions. Open Mon-Fri 6 a.m.-5 p.m., Sat 6 a.m.-2 p.m. Anyone leaving the vehicle needs a reflective safety vest.

Before you go: Call (303) 293-3333. Trash hours are Monday to Friday 5:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.; metals hours are Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

What else should I know in Thornton?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Landfill Day: a free load to Tower on November 7

On Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thornton waives the gate fee at Republic Services Tower Landfill for residents bringing non-hazardous debris. It is one covered vehicle load per household with proof of residency, and electronics and liquids are refused. The event page allows small single-axle trailers, but the city's older 311 landfill article says no trailer loads, so check before you hitch one up.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

What should a Thornton shed quote include?

Ask for the slab or base, the contents, roofing and cleanup in writing. Denver Junk Solutions includes wood skids under the shed but treats a poured slab as a separate job, and adds $25 a yard for shingles and $40 for a carry over 100 feet. Junk Same Day leaves the pad unless you add slab removal. JK Hauling & Demo's shed price includes haul-away and cleanup.

Do I have to empty the shed first?

No, but it costs more if the crew clears it. Denver Junk Solutions prices anything still inside by the yard, like any load. Junk Same Day says it clears the contents first, then takes the structure. Pull out old paint, fuel and chemicals yourself: Click & Haul refuses hazardous materials and liquids.

What do I do with the concrete slab?

Plan for it separately. Click & Haul won't take concrete or gravel, and several companies price slab work as an add-on. Front Range Landfill takes concrete by the ton, and Allied in Commerce City recycles it. Call Colorado 811 at least three business days before breaking out a slab or footings.

Where can I haul shed debris myself?

Thornton points residents to two private landfills: Tower Landfill in Commerce City and Front Range Landfill in Erie. Both charge double for uncovered loads, so tarp it. The city's Infrastructure Maintenance Center drop-off does not take general trash debris.

Where does a metal shed go?

A scrap yard, not the landfill. All Recycling North on Washington Street in Denver lists metal sheds among the household metals it buys and is open to the public. Unbolt the panels, stack them flat, and call (303) 293-3333 for the current price.
