SHED REMOVAL IN FORT MYERS

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Fort Myers shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Fort Myers requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Fort Myers ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Fort Myers asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Fort Myers rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes. Fort Myers requires a building permit to demolish a building or structure and lists demolition and sheds as permitted work. Fees come from the City's calculators.

City pickup

Not with regular service. Wood, roofing and other building materials from a teardown are a paid special pickup from the City's Solid Waste Division.

Haul it yourself

Lee County Resource Recovery Facility (Buckingham). Construction and demolition material $70.25 per ton, $15 minimum (FY26 County rates). Pay with exact change, a debit or credit card, or mobile pay.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: 239 Junk Removal says shed removal starts at $200 and can reach $2,000 for big sheds. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 in Lee County. Others quote each job.

Do I need a permit?Fort Myers demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

A demolition permit for the shed

The City's permit page says building permits are required to construct, alter, repair, move or demolish a building or structure, and its examples list Demolition and Shed(s) as needing a permit for homes. Apply through the City's online EnerGov portal or at 1825 Hendry St., Suite 101. Questions go to permitting at 239-321-7925.

03

Keep your dump receipts

The City's debris affidavit says it randomly asks for receipts showing lawful disposal of construction debris, and the permit holder must keep those records. Failing to produce them is a violation.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Fort Myers pick up shed debris?

Not in regular service. City customers get weekly bulk pickup of up to 4 cubic yards of household items like furniture. The City Code says sand, wood, concrete, roofing and other building materials left from a partial demolition aren't collected with residential service; the Solid Waste Division picks them up as a special service for a charge. Call (239) 321-8050 for a price.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Lee County Resource Recovery Facility (Buckingham)

10500 Buckingham Rd, Fort Myers, FL 33905

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 6 a.m. to noon. Hand unloaders must be through the gate 30 minutes before closing. Weigh in at the scale house, tarp the load, and wear a shirt and closed-toe shoes. Call 239-533-8000.

Southwest Waste Services (Rockfill Road)

2442 Rockfill Road, Fort Myers, FL 33916

Private construction and demolition debris recycling yard on Lee County's list of approved private C&D recycling facilities.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to noon. It's a long drive from the coast, so call 239-533-8000 to confirm it takes a homeowner's load before going.

Listed by Lee County as a clean concrete disposal site among its approved private C&D recycling facilities.

What else should I know in Fort Myers?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Only the City or a franchised hauler may haul demolition debris

Fort Myers Code Sec. 70-31 says all solid waste in the city is collected by the City, and no one may collect or haul demolition debris unless the City offers franchised service and they have a franchise agreement. The City's debris affidavit says owners must contract with the Solid Waste Division, or an authorized franchise hauler the City approves, during demolition or partial demolition. The City also runs its own roll-off service for demolition projects. The code doesn't say whether a crew hauling one shed in its own truck counts.

Historic districts need a certificate of review

Fort Myers has four local historic districts: Downtown, Dean Park, Edison Park and Seminole Park. Chapter 114 says the building official won't issue a permit for demolition of a structure in a district until a certificate of review is approved. It also says one may be approved administratively for insignificant accessory buildings. Call Planning at 239-321-7975.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Fort Myers?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, 239 Junk Removal says shed removal starts at $200 and runs up to $2,000 for larger, more complex sheds, with a slab adding cost. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Lee County, lower if it's already taken apart.

Where can I haul shed lumber myself?

Lee County's Buckingham campus at 10500 Buckingham Rd. takes construction and demolition debris for $70.25 a ton, $15 minimum, open weekdays 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday mornings. Closer in, Southwest Waste Services on Rockfill Road charges $70 a ton with a 2-ton minimum; call 239-939-5050 first.

What about old asphalt shingles?

Don't take them to Buckingham. The County stopped accepting asphalt shingles there and points to the Lee/Hendry Landfill in Felda, which charges $35 a ton, or to an approved private C&D yard.

Where can a concrete slab go?

Lee County lists DS&S Construction Materials at 2901 Jacksonville St. as a clean concrete disposal site. It sets the rate on site and is open weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; call 239-454-4999, extension 200.

What about paint and chemicals stored in the shed?

Keep them out of the debris. The City doesn't collect household chemicals; Lee County takes them free from residents at 6441 Topaz Ct., weekdays 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Do I need an asbestos survey for an old shed?

Usually not for a single home. Florida DEP says the federal asbestos rule excludes isolated residential buildings with four or fewer dwelling units. Old cement-board siding or roofing still deserves care, so ask the crew how they handle it.
