SHED REMOVAL IN MELBOURNE

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Melbourne shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Melbourne requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Melbourne ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Melbourne asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Melbourne rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Not confirmed for small sheds. Melbourne lists demolition of a structure as a construction permit, $65 for work valued at $1,000 or less, and publishes no shed exemption. Call 321-608-7915.

City pickup

No. WM doesn't collect lumber, plywood or other material used to build a shed at the curb. It can schedule a curbside pickup for an extra charge.

Haul it yourself

Sarno Landfill and Transfer Station (Brevard County). Free for a Brevard owner or tenant bringing C&D debris from their own home in a personal vehicle, with ID showing the address and proof of ownership or tenancy. From October 1, 2026, loads from a hired hauler pay $40.52 a ton for renovation or demolition debris; lumber, wood fencing and pallets are charged as land clearing debris at $52.01 a ton. Clean concrete is free. Only waste generated in Brevard County is accepted.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: Dumpsters Wiz lists $650 to $850 for a shed up to 8x10 and $850 to $1,200 for 10x12 to 12x16. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 in Brevard County.

Do I need a permit?Melbourne demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

What Melbourne charges for a demolition permit

Melbourne's fee schedule (effective August 7, 2026) lists 'Demolition of structure' among construction-related permits, priced by the estimated cost of the work: $65 for $1,000 or less, then $65 plus $6.50 for each additional $1,000 up to $50,000. A plan check fee of 50% of the base fee is listed separately. The City doesn't publish a demolition checklist or a size exemption for small sheds, and its FAQ warns that starting work without a required permit can cost a penalty of 100% of the usual fee. Call the Building Section at 321-608-7915 before you start.

03

Demolition contractors must containerize debris

City Code Sec. 48-85 makes it unlawful for a construction or demolition contractor to work without containers on site for loose debris and building material waste, and requires anything scattered onto neighboring property to be cleaned up by the end of the work day.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Melbourne pick up shed debris?

No. The City says WM does not provide curbside collection of wood fencing or construction and demolition material such as lumber, docks, plywood and pallets, and it names sheds in that list. Small amounts of debris from minor home improvement projects can go in the green cart, but not concrete, brick or pressure-treated wood. The City's options are to take the wood to the County landfill in Cocoa yourself, use a WM Bagster, hire a roll-off provider, or ask WM to schedule a curbside pickup for an additional charge (321-723-4455).

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

What else should I know in Melbourne?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Hauling demolition debris takes a City permit and a 10% fee

WM holds Melbourne's exclusive franchise for residential trash, but the franchise says WM gets no exclusive right to special waste, which includes construction and demolition debris, except a residential customer's bulk waste, tires and yard trash. City Code Sec. 48-4 lets firms doing building or remodeling work that needs a City building permit haul away their own waste, with a permit from the city manager. Sec. 48-5 sets that permit's fee at 10% of what the hauler bills the occupant, plus $0.33 per cubic yard; occupants hauling their own waste without a third-party hauler are exempt from the 10% part. Starting without the permit can bring a double fee or penalty, and a fine of up to $250.

The City sends shed wood to the Cocoa landfill

Melbourne's trash page says WM won't take lumber, plywood or other material used to build a shed at the curb, and tells residents to take the wood to the County landfill in Cocoa, where residents can drop it off at no charge. Sarno Landfill on Sarno Road is closer and takes lumber, but the County lists treated wood (CCA) as prohibited there. The City's own pages give the Cocoa site as 2520 and 2250 Adamson Road; the County's page says 2060.

HB 803 doesn't touch shed or accessory-structure permits

Florida's HB 803 exempts single-family work under $7,500 from building permits, but Melbourne's Building Section says electrical, plumbing, mechanical, gas and structural work still need a permit regardless of value. It adds that City ordinance permits, including those for accessory structures, are separate and not affected by the exemption, and that the City code requires inspections for sheds.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Melbourne?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, Dumpsters Wiz lists $650 to $850 for a small wood or vinyl shed up to 8x10, $850 to $1,200 for 10x12 to 12x16 and $1,200 to $2,000+ for large ones, plus $300 to $600 to remove a slab; its general demolition page says from $300. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Brevard County, lower if it's already taken apart. G's Junk Removal says Melbourne shed removal runs $450 to $2,000 and takes sheds up to 100 square feet. Pro Haul Systems adds a $50 to $250 heavy-item surcharge for sheds to junk pricing from $120.

Can I take shed debris to the landfill for free?

Yes, if you haul it yourself from your own home. Brevard County doesn't charge an owner or tenant bringing construction and demolition debris in a personal vehicle; bring ID showing the address and proof of ownership or tenancy. If you pay a hauler, the load is charged: $40.52 a ton for demolition debris, and lumber is billed as land clearing debris at $52.01 a ton.

Where does the concrete slab go?

Not in the cart: Melbourne's guide says concrete, rocks and bricks are excluded from home-project debris. The Sarno Landfill lists concrete and brick as accepted, and clean concrete not mixed with other waste is billed at $0 a ton.

Can a metal shed go to a scrap yard?

Yes. Trademark Metals Recycling at 490 Ansin Road in Rockledge buys steel and aluminum scrap, weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday mornings. Prices aren't posted.

What about old paint and chemicals in the shed?

Take them to the household hazardous waste center at the County's Sarno site, open Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It takes paints, solvents, pesticides, fertilizers, gasoline and batteries from households.

Do I need an asbestos survey for an old shed?

Usually not under federal rules for homes: Florida DEP says the asbestos demolition rules exclude isolated residential buildings with four or fewer units. If old cement siding or shingles do contain asbestos, Sarno won't take it; Brevard County charges $130 a ton for asbestos as a special waste.
