PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL
Here’s what Titusville asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.
Yes. City code requires a permit to remove or demolish any building or structure, with no size exemption. The fee goes by job value: $80 up to $1,000, plus a 2.5% state fee. Call 321-567-3760.

Partly. The City picks up wood and lumber cut to 4-foot lengths once a month if you call 321-383-5755, but it won't take shingles, tar paper or concrete.

Central Disposal Facility (Brevard County). Free for a Brevard owner or tenant bringing C&D debris from their own home in a personal vehicle, with ID showing the address and proof of ownership or tenancy. From October 1, 2026, loads from a hired hauler pay $40.52 a ton for renovation or demolition debris; lumber, wood fencing and pallets are charged as land clearing debris at $52.01 a ton. Clean concrete is free. Only waste generated in Brevard County is accepted.

Others here: Dumpsters Wiz lists $650 to $850 for a small shed and up to $2,000+ for large ones. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 in Brevard County; G's Junk Removal says $450 to $2,000.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗
City Code § 6-56 makes it unlawful to remove or demolish a building or structure without a permit from the building official, and it lists no exemption for small sheds. The City's all-trades permit application lists sheds among its permit types and asks for the value of the work. Electrical work needs its own permit. Every demolition permit also needs the asbestos statement, and the application has to show how the debris will be disposed of.
Titusville Code Ch. 6, Art. III (Building permits and inspections) ↗Titusville Building / All Trades Permit Application (PDF) ↗Titusville Asbestos Notification Statement (PDF) ↗
The fee schedule lists 'Demolition of Building' as priced by the value of the work: $80 for work up to $1,000, $100 up to $2,000, then $6 for each added $1,000. A state fee of 2.5% is added to every building permit, $4 at minimum. The schedule also sets a plan review fee of half the permit fee, and its exemption list doesn't name demolition of a shed, so ask whether it applies.
Titusville's permit application says a separate permit is needed for electrical and plumbing work, so have a licensed electrician deal with a wired shed before teardown. Before pulling posts, piers or anchors, contact Sunshine 811.

Some of it. The City's Solid Waste Division picks up wood, lumber, plywood and 2x4s once a month if you call 321-383-5755 to get on the list; cut it into 4-foot lengths and keep it apart from other trash. Because of Brevard County restrictions, the City can't collect roofing such as tar paper and shingles, or rocks, bricks, cinder blocks and concrete. Everything goes at the curb, not in the backyard. The City's pages don't say whether a whole torn-down shed fits this service, so ask when you call.

Titusville runs its own trash service, and City Code § 16-31 says all waste in the city is collected by the City. Others may haul construction debris 'generated by the erecting, removing, or demolition of any building or structure,' but only after getting a City franchise. A property owner who hauls the debris without hiring anyone needs no franchise. The code gives roll-off containers as its example and doesn't say how it applies to a junk or demolition company, and the City publishes no list of franchise holders.

City Code § 6-69 says a permit application must show how the waste from the job will be disposed of, by an on-site dumpster or another way the building official accepts. If the debris isn't handled as approved, the official can stop the work or revoke the permit. Section 16-77 also makes builders and contractors remove their own building debris, including concrete slabs and blocks, at their own expense.

Brevard County's Mockingbird Way site at 3600 South Street takes residential remodeling debris, but a County notice says it stopped taking wood, metals and concrete from July 2024 through August 2026 while a new transfer station is built; those loads went to the Central Disposal Facility in Cocoa. The notice was still posted in October 2026. The Titusville Transfer Station next door, at 4366 South Street, takes household and commercial garbage only and turns away construction and demolition debris.

Titusville's Asbestos Notification Statement quotes Florida Building Code Section 105.9, which requires every demolition permit to include one. By signing it, the owner or contractor accepts responsibility for Florida's asbestos licensing rules and for notifying the Florida DEP when asbestos is removed.
Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.
