How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Port St. Lucie shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Port St. Lucie requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Port St. Lucie asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Port St. Lucie rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Not confirmed for small sheds. The City's demolition permit application covers residential structural and non-structural work, and no shed exemption is published. Ask the Building Department, 772-871-5132.

City pickup

Only a small do-it-yourself share. Monthly bulk pickup takes 2 cubic yards, including wood, and the code bars contractor waste from the curb. Extra pickups cost $18.50 a cubic yard.

Haul it yourself

St. Lucie County Solid Waste Baling & Recycling Facility. Rates effective Feb. 1, 2025: construction and demolition debris $69 a ton, clean wood $25 a ton, both with a $10 minimum; scrap metal and white goods $3 a load; waste requiring special handling $100 a ton with a $100 minimum. Cash, major credit cards and company checks are accepted; personal checks are not.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 in St. Lucie County. Wetland Junk Removal says a small shed teardown is usually about a half load, which it lists at $400.

Do I need a permit?Port St. Lucie demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

What the City's demolition permit asks for

Port St. Lucie's demolition application is for residential or commercial work, structural or non-structural, and asks whether the job involves electric, A/C, plumbing, gas or sewer/septic. It must be signed and notarized by both the contractor and the owner. The checklist adds an Asbestos Notification Statement initialed by the owner, any sub-contractor permits, and a recorded Notice of Commencement for work valued at $5,000 or more. Owner-builders also file a deed or property card and an affidavit. The residential fee schedule lists $200 for demolishing a single-family home; other fees are set by the Building Official, so a shed's fee isn't published. Call 772-871-5132.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Port St. Lucie pick up shed debris?

Only a little. FCC collects bulk waste once a month on your trash day, and the City lists wood among bulk items. The limit is 2 cubic yards a month; bigger piles are tagged and left. The code lets do-it-yourself renovation debris go out within that limit, but says no contractor waste may be placed at the curb, and the City won't take materials from contractors or concrete. You can book extra pickups through 1PSL (772-871-1775, press 5) at $18.50 a cubic yard, or use any hauler you choose.

Drop-off and recycling options

What else should I know in Port St. Lucie?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

No franchise is needed to haul demolition debris

FCC Environmental Services holds Port St. Lucie's exclusive trash franchise, but the City code carves out demolition debris. Sec. 80.13(c) says construction and demolition debris 'may be collected, hauled and lawfully disposed of by persons other than the franchise hauler,' and Sec. 80.04 lists construction and demolition waste over 2 cubic yards as exempt from the franchise. The code doesn't limit this to roll-off containers or require a hauler permit. Contractors must haul away their own debris in vehicles built so nothing blows or spills out (Sec. 80.10(e)).

Demolition debris goes in a container or straight out

Sec. 80.10(b) says construction and demolition waste at a demolition project must be kept in a mechanical container (a dumpster or roll-off) until it leaves the site, except for the small do-it-yourself amount allowed at the curb. A crew that loads the pieces straight onto its own truck the same day avoids a pile in the yard. Debris that blows onto a neighbor's lot must be picked up by the end of that day.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Port St. Lucie?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in St. Lucie County, lower if it's already taken apart. Wetland Junk Removal charges by truck volume, $225 for a quarter load up to $650 for a full load of about 15 cubic yards, with teardown and disposal included; it says a small shed is usually about a half load and quotes a slab separately. Saint Lucie Junk Removal, Junk Trust and College HUNKS quote each job.

Where can I take shed debris myself?

St. Lucie County's Baling & Recycling Facility at 6120 Glades Cut-Off Road in Fort Pierce takes Port St. Lucie residents with ID. Construction and demolition debris costs $69 a ton and clean wood $25 a ton, with a $10 minimum; the City says the minimum covers up to 250 pounds. It's open weekdays 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. WM's Fort Pierce Transfer Station on Selvitz Road also takes demo debris, but it doesn't post a price.

What about the concrete slab or pavers?

Curbside bulk pickup won't take concrete. WM's Fort Pierce Transfer Station lists concrete among accepted materials; call for the rate. St. Lucie County's fee page doesn't list a separate concrete rate, so ask the scale house (772-462-1768) how a slab load is charged.

Can an aluminum shed go to a scrap yard?

Yes. Port St Lucie Recycling at 1145 SW Biltmore Street buys non-ferrous metal, including sheet aluminum, aluminum fencing and window frames, and is open to the public weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday until 2 p.m. Prices aren't posted. Steel panels aren't on its list, so call 772-807-5732 first; the County charges $3 a load for scrap metal.

Do I need an asbestos survey for an old shed?

Usually not under federal rules for homes: Florida DEP says the asbestos demolition rules exclude isolated residential buildings with four or fewer units. Port St. Lucie still has the owner initial an asbestos notification statement with every demolition permit. If old cement siding or shingles test positive, ask the County how it handles the load; its fee page lists $100 a ton for waste requiring special handling.

What about old paint and chemicals in the shed?

The City says hazardous materials and electronic waste are accepted at no charge at the County's Glades Cut-Off Road facility. Keep gas cans, pesticides and paint out of the debris load.
