SHED REMOVAL IN TAMPA

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Tampa shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Tampa requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Tampa ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Tampa asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Tampa rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes. Tampa requires a demolition permit for any existing structure, issued the same day, at $197 for a home lot plus a state surcharge. The 120-square-foot shed exemption isn't stated to cover teardown.

City pickup

No. Tampa's bulky pickup and Special Services both list sheds by name under building materials they won't take.

Haul it yourself

McKay Bay Scale House (City of Tampa). $130 per ton for processible or non-processible waste (fees effective October 1, 2026), credit card only. Waste from outside Hillsborough County is charged double.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Hillsborough. Elephants charges $50 a cubic yard, $150 minimum. Others quote from photos or a visit.

Do I need a permit?Tampa demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

A demolition permit, with an inspection first

The City's Construction Services page says the demolition permit is required for any existing structure and its debris removal. You call in an inspection once the site is ready, before the teardown starts. Tampa's list of permit-exempt work includes one-story tool and storage sheds up to 120 square feet, but it doesn't say that covers demolition, so ask before skipping the permit.

02

Fees and who can pull the permit

The miscellaneous projects fee schedule lists Demolition at $197 for one- and two-family homes ($324 commercial), plus the Florida surcharge of 2.5% or $4 minimum. A homeowner may do work on their own home as an owner-builder and must supervise the work on site; otherwise a licensed contractor pulls the permit.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Tampa pick up shed debris?

No. Homes with City service get one free S.W.E.E.P. bulky pickup a year, and paid special pickups are available, but both refuse building materials: sheds, fences, wood and plywood, roofing, doors, windows, brick and concrete block. The City Code also says waste from construction or demolition won't be collected by the City and the contractor or owner must dispose of it. Call (813) 274-8811 with questions.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

McKay Bay Scale House (City of Tampa)

114 South 34th Street, Tampa, FL 33605

City-run disposal site. Construction debris (tile, plywood, roofing, fencing, drywall, plaster) and mixed loads are paid items. Bricks, rocks, cinder blocks, dirt, paint and other hazardous waste are never accepted. City residents with an active solid waste account drop off furniture, appliances and bagged yard waste free.

Fees: $130 per ton for processible or non-processible waste (fees effective October 1, 2026), credit card only. Waste from outside Hillsborough County is charged double.

Before you go: Open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Wednesday and Saturday 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wear closed-toed shoes; dump trailer operators need a hard hat. Call (813) 242-5320.

Northwest County Solid Waste Facility (Hillsborough County)

8001 W. Linebaugh Ave., Tampa, FL 33625

County collection center and transfer station. Lists bulk items, general trash, scrap metal and untreated wood among accepted items; it doesn't name construction debris. County Solid Waste customers get 10 cubic yards of bulky-waste disposal a year at collection centers, unloaded by hand. The transfer station is mainly for commercial haulers.

Fees: Free within the County customer's yearly allowance. Otherwise County commercial rates: $148 per ton processable, $109 per ton non-processable, with a minimum of 10% of the rate for loads of 200 pounds or less.

Before you go: Open Monday to Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. County customers bring a photo ID and a copy of their property tax bill. Call (813) 272-5680 to ask whether shed lumber is accepted.

Trademark Metals Recycling (Madison Ave.)

5135 Madison Ave., Tampa, FL 33619

Scrap metal yard that buys ferrous scrap (steel, iron, pipe, beams) and non-ferrous scrap (aluminum, copper, brass, stainless). Fits a cut-down metal shed, not wood or shingles.

Fees: No disposal fee published; it pays for scrap.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon. Call (813) 677-4471 for prices.

What else should I know in Tampa?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Hauling demolition debris for pay needs a City permit

Tampa has no single franchised hauler for construction debris. Its commercial franchise (15% of gross revenue) covers commercial garbage only, and the code says that article doesn't apply to anyone who only collects construction and demolition debris. Instead, Sec. 26-157 requires a City permit to be in the business of collecting or transporting any type of waste. It exempts a repairman, roofer or contractor who hauls only the waste from their own job in their own vehicle. The 2026 fee schedule lists a $60 Commercial & Construction permit plus a $60 application fee. The code doesn't say whether a shed removal crew counts as a contractor hauling its own debris.

New Tampa gets County service, not City service

The City's bulky pickup doesn't run in New Tampa; Hillsborough County Solid Waste serves those homes. County customers get 10 cubic yards a year of free bulky-waste drop-off at the County's collection centers, unloaded by hand with no dump trailers. Everyone else in Tampa uses the City's McKay Bay Scale House. Check which service your address has before you haul anything.

Historic districts review changes

Tampa has four local historic districts, including Hyde Park, Seminole Heights, Tampa Heights and Ybor City, plus 64 local landmarks. The City says development in historic districts is reviewed by its architectural boards. If your home is in a district, ask Historic Preservation at (813) 274-3100, option 3, before tearing down an old outbuilding.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Tampa?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Hillsborough County and says a shed that's already taken apart costs less. Elephants charges $50 per cubic yard for the structure with a $150 minimum, and quotes a concrete slab separately.

Where can I haul shed lumber and roofing myself?

City residents can take construction debris such as plywood, roofing and fencing to the McKay Bay Scale House at 114 South 34th Street. It's a paid item, $130 per ton under the fees effective October 1, 2026, by credit card only. Wear closed-toed shoes, and bring a hard hat if you pull a dump trailer.

Can the concrete slab go to McKay Bay?

Probably not. McKay Bay's never-accepted list includes bricks, rocks, cinder blocks and dirt, and the County's Southeast landfill refuses concrete. Ask the Scale House at (813) 242-5320 before loading slab pieces, or ask your crew whether slab removal is in the price.

Where can a metal shed go?

Trademark Metals Recycling at 5135 Madison Ave. buys steel, aluminum and other scrap metal Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday until noon. Call (813) 677-4471. Cut panels down first so they fit your truck.

What about paint and chemicals stored in the shed?

Leave them out of the debris. McKay Bay never accepts paint, lawn chemicals, fuel or propane tanks. The City says residents can drop household hazardous waste at select Hillsborough County sites at no added charge.

Do I need an asbestos survey for an old shed?

Usually not for a single home. Florida DEP says the federal asbestos rule excludes isolated residential buildings with four or fewer dwelling units. Old cement-board siding or roofing still deserves care, so ask the crew how they handle it.
