SHED REMOVAL IN RIVERVIEW

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Riverview shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Riverview requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Riverview ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Riverview asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Riverview rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes, under the Florida Building Code, which requires a permit to demolish a structure. Hillsborough lists a $190 residential demolition permit. Its no-permit rule for sheds under 150 sq ft covers building only.

City pickup

Partly. Weekly yard waste takes unpainted, untreated lumber up to 2 cubic yards. Special bulky pickup costs $30 to $50 an item and doesn't list sheds; call (813) 272-5680.

Haul it yourself

South County Solid Waste Facility (Hillsborough County). County residential customers get 10 cubic yards of bulky waste and 2 tons of yard and wood waste free each year; after that, standard commercial rates apply ($109 a ton for non-processable waste, $68 a ton for yard and wood waste).

Do I need a permit?Riverview demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

What the County asks for with a demolition permit

The Florida Building Code requires a permit to demolish a building or structure. Hillsborough's residential demolition checklist, written for demolishing an entire structure, asks for an application in the HillsGovHub portal, an Owner Builder Disclosure Statement if you act as your own contractor, sign-offs from County Public Utilities, Tampa Electric, the gas provider and the phone provider, and a site plan showing the structure to be removed. The County doesn't say how much of this applies to a backyard shed; call Development Services at 813-272-5600.

03

Small sheds and the $7,500 exemption

Residential sheds and greenhouses under 150 square feet need no permit to build. Separately, non-structural work on a single-family home valued under $7,500 can be exempt, but you must still apply in HillsGovHub, and it never covers electrical, plumbing, structural, mechanical or gas work or a property in a flood hazard area. The County doesn't say whether a shed teardown qualifies.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Riverview pick up shed debris?

Only some of it. County trash service collects bulky items only as a paid special pickup, $30 to $50 an item. The price list includes doors and fence (per 8-foot section) but not sheds or loose lumber, so call (813) 272-5680 to ask before setting anything out. Weekly yard waste pickup does take lumber and wood, up to 2 cubic yards a week, but it must be free of paint, glue and wood preservatives or treatments. Painted siding and pressure-treated floor framing don't qualify.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

South County Solid Waste Facility (Hillsborough County)

13000 U.S. Highway 41, Gibsonton, FL 33534

Before you go: Open Monday to Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bring a photo ID with your address and your County tax bill, and unload by hand. Businesses can't use the collection center. Call (813) 272-5680.

What else should I know in Riverview?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Franchise haulers: anyone may haul shed debris, not the junk inside

In unincorporated Hillsborough, the County code makes it unlawful to collect or haul solid waste for others without a County franchise. Construction and demolition debris is the exception: residential customers may use any person to collect and properly dispose of it. Lumber, steel and asphalt roofing from tearing down a structure count. But the code says mixing that debris with other waste makes it something else, so the old junk stored in a shed may need a franchised hauler.

The County landfill won't take demolition debris

The Southeast County Landfill in Lithia lists construction and demolition debris, including concrete, as not accepted, and the Resource Recovery Facility takes only burnable waste. Torn-down shed material goes to a private construction and demolition site, such as Sun Country in Riverview or Big Guava in east Tampa.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Riverview?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Hillsborough County and says a shed that's already taken apart costs less. The others quote each job.

Where can I take shed debris myself?

Sun Country Materials, a Waste Connections landfill at 11457 County Road 672 in Riverview, has taken construction and demolition debris since 1995 and serves residential customers; it requires a safety vest and a tarp. Big Guava, a Waste Pro C&D transfer station at 6912 E. 9th Ave. in Tampa, welcomes homeowners with DIY debris Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., but refuses CCA-treated wood, furniture and household garbage. Call for prices: Sun Country 813-642-9594, Big Guava 813-556-8800.

Can I use the County's free drop-off allowance?

For some of it. Residential customers get 10 cubic yards of free bulky waste and appliance disposal a year at the Community Collection Centers, including South County at 13000 U.S. Highway 41 in Gibsonton. Bring a photo ID and your tax bill, and unload by hand. Untreated wood can go to the yard and wood waste area there, with 2 tons a year free. The County doesn't say whether the centers take demolition debris, and businesses can't use them.

Where can a metal shed go?

The South County Solid Waste Facility in Gibsonton takes scrap metal at its collection center. Big Guava also lists metal and steel among the construction materials it accepts.

Do I need an asbestos survey for an old shed?

Usually not under federal rules for homes. Florida DEP says the asbestos demolition rules exclude isolated residential buildings with four or fewer units. If old cement siding or shingles do contain asbestos, the County landfill needs pre-approval for it and charges $250 a ton.

Is the slab included when a shed comes down?

Not always, so ask. Site Masters lists concrete pads and pavers under the shed as part of its shed work. The Southeast County Landfill won't take concrete, so slab pieces go to a private site such as Big Guava, which lists concrete and pavers.
