SHED REMOVAL IN GLEN BURNIE

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Glen Burnie shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Glen Burnie requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Glen Burnie ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Glen Burnie asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Glen Burnie rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Likely yes. Anne Arundel County lists residential demolition as needing a permit, filed as a residential accessory structure permit. Its 150-square-foot shed rule is for building one. Confirm at (410) 222-7730.

City pickup

No. Glen Burnie has no city service, and County curbside bulk pickup won't take wood, lumber or building materials. Residents can drop their own debris at County sites.

Haul it yourself

Anne Arundel County Northern Recycling Center. No charge for County residents in a qualifying vehicle. Loads in a rental vehicle, dump truck, flatbed, stake body or box truck, rental trailer or double-axle trailer are refused here and must go to the landfill.

Do I need a permit?Glen Burnie demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Demolition goes through County Inspections and Permits

The County's permit guide lists residential demolition, the tearing down of a residential structure, as permit-required, under a single-family dwelling or residential accessory structure record. An accessory structure permit counts as a building permit and asks for a site plan. The guide's 150-square-foot exemption describes building a shed, not removing one, so don't count on it. Call the permit center at (410) 222-7730 or email permitcenterhelp@aacounty.org.

04

Call Miss Utility before pulling footings

Miss Utility is Maryland's one-call center. Contact it 3 to 12 business days before digging out piers, posts or a slab, or before demolition.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Anne Arundel County pick up shed debris?

No. County curbside service takes up to three bulky trash items at a time on your weekly day, but it says not to put out wood and lumber or building and construction materials, which are not collected curbside. Large metal items can be picked up by appointment at (410) 222-6100, or taken to a recycling center if they fit in your car. So a shed's contents can go out, but the shed itself can't.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Anne Arundel County Northern Recycling Center

Fees: Residential solid waste not otherwise listed: no charge. Waste from a commercial business, or in a dump truck, flatbed, stake body or box truck, rental truck or trailer, or double-axle trailer: $100 a ton. Large or hard-to-handle items such as stumps and concrete: $200 a ton. Cash, check, Visa, MasterCard or Discover.

What else should I know in Glen Burnie?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Glen Burnie has no town hall: Anne Arundel County makes the rules

Glen Burnie is not an incorporated city. Anne Arundel County's only municipalities are Annapolis and Highland Beach, so County Inspections and Permits handles building, demolition and electrical permits here, and the County's Bureau of Waste Management Services runs trash pickup, the recycling centers and the Millersville Landfill.

No franchise hauler and no County hauler licence found

No Anne Arundel County page read gives one company the sole right to haul demolition debris or requires a licence to haul trash or debris. The County's list of non-trade licenses includes only a Liquid Waste Hauler License, for septic pumping. What the County does regulate is the dump: solid waste brought by a business, or in a dump truck, flatbed, box truck, rental truck or double-axle trailer, pays $100 a ton at the landfill and is turned away at recycling centers.

The Northern Recycling Center is in Glen Burnie

The County's Northern Recycling Center at 100 Dover Road NE is open Monday to Saturday for residents who show an Anne Arundel County driver's license and vehicle registration. It takes scrap metal, metal shelving and vinyl siding for recycling, so a metal shed or a vinyl shed's panels can go there. Shingles are not taken for recycling.

Critical Area lots follow stricter shed rules

In Anne Arundel County, a shed of 150 square feet or less and no more than 10 feet tall needs no building permit, except in the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area, where every shed needs one. The accessory structure permit asks for a Critical Area worksheet. If your lot is near tidal water, ask the permit center about Critical Area rules before the shed comes down.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Glen Burnie?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, Junk Guys DC lists shed demolition and removal at $200 to $400 flat, with foundation removal and site cleanup. LoadUp's Glen Burnie page gives $94 to $1,559, lower for a shed that's already taken apart.

What does a County permit cost to remove a shed?

The County doesn't list a separate demolition fee. Building permits are priced by the value of the work: $86 for work up to $3,000, plus a $43 non-refundable application fee. Whether a shed teardown is billed at that minimum isn't stated, so confirm with the permit center.

Can I take shed debris to the Millersville Landfill myself?

Yes, if you live in the County. The landfill takes residential and commercial waste from Anne Arundel County residents and businesses only, and charges no fee for residential solid waste not otherwise listed. Loads in a dump truck, flatbed, box truck, rental truck or double-axle trailer pay $100 a ton. Separate recyclables first; every customer is routed through the recycling area.

What about the concrete slab or blocks?

The Millersville Landfill takes rubble for recycling: concrete, brick, block, asphalt and stone, with no wood, metal or trash mixed in. The fee sheet lists concrete among large or hard-to-handle items at $200 a ton, so call (410) 222-6108 to ask which rate applies to your load.

Where can I take a metal shed?

County residents can drop scrap metal, metal shelving and cabinets free at any County recycling center, including the Northern Recycling Center in Glen Burnie. Sims Metal's East Yard on Pulaski Highway in Baltimore also buys ferrous and nonferrous metal and asks for a government photo ID.
