SHED REMOVAL IN WYOMING

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Wyoming shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Wyoming requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Wyoming ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Wyoming asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Wyoming rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Not confirmed. Wyoming publishes no demolition permit or fee for a shed; its guide requires a building permit only to build sheds over 200 sq ft. Ask Inspections at 616-530-7285.

City pickup

No. Wyoming has no City trash service; residents hire one of five licensed haulers. Ask your hauler whether it takes shed debris and at what charge.

Haul it yourself

South Kent Recycling & Waste Center (Kent County DPW). Residents pay by vehicle load for up to 1,400 lb: $30 car trunk, $40 pickup, van or SUV, $40 trailer alone, $50 car and trailer, $60 truck and trailer, then a prorated per-ton charge. Scrap metal is free. Commercial haulers pay $53.64 a ton for construction and demolition debris. Rates effective October 1, 2026; cards add a convenience fee.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Kent County. College HUNKS and Junk Knights quote after seeing the shed.

Do I need a permit?Wyoming demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

02

Who may pull an electrical permit

To disconnect wiring to a shed, an electrical permit must come from someone licensed by the State of Michigan for that work, or from the owner who lives in the home. Homeowners don't need to register with the City.

03

Building a replacement shed

Wyoming allows at most two accessory buildings, counting an attached garage. A building over 200 sq ft needs a building permit, and maximum size depends on lot area: 768 sq ft for a single building on lots up to half an acre.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Wyoming pick up shed debris?

No. The City doesn't collect trash. Residents choose any licensed hauler: Advanced Disposal, Arrowaste, Kamps, Republic Services or Waste Management for 2025-2026. The City's pages don't say whether those haulers take shed lumber or shingles as bulk items.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

South Kent Recycling & Waste Center (Kent County DPW)

10300 South Kent Drive, Byron Center, MI 49315

Home of Kent County's only open, active municipal solid waste landfill. It takes trash drop-offs from residents and businesses, plus free scrap metal recycling. The County's guides send treated wood and shingles here or to North Kent for a vehicle-load fee, and take concrete that can't be reused here for free. Asbestos is on the County's unacceptable-waste list, and the County may reject any load.

Fees: Residents pay by vehicle load for up to 1,400 lb: $30 car trunk, $40 pickup, van or SUV, $40 trailer alone, $50 car and trailer, $60 truck and trailer, then a prorated per-ton charge. Scrap metal is free. Commercial haulers pay $53.64 a ton for construction and demolition debris. Rates effective October 1, 2026; cards add a convenience fee.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Closing times are exact, and late unloading costs $45 per 15 minutes. Questions: 616-632-7920.

Full Circle Recycle (recycling aggregates)

3233 Broadmoor Avenue SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49512 (second site: 740 Ann Street NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504)

Listed by Kent County as an outlet for concrete. The County says it accepts concrete, asphalt, clay, quartz, ceramic and porcelain items, stone and gravel, and no metal, rubber or plastic. That fits a broken-up shed slab or pier blocks, not lumber.

Fees: Not published on the County page.

Before you go: Call 616-868-2277 for hours and any charge before you load a slab. Pull out rebar, anchor bolts and wood first.

PADNOS Burton Recycling Center

719 Burton St SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503

Scrap yard that buys scrap metal, including aluminum, copper, brass and steel. A metal shed's panels and framing, broken down and stripped of wood and plastic, are scrap metal. It doesn't take wood or other building debris.

Fees: No disposal fee: PADNOS weighs scrap metal and pays for it. Rates aren't posted on the location page.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Enter from Burton Street and stop at the scale. Call (616) 452-6037.

What else should I know in Wyoming?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Every hauling vehicle needs a City rubbish license

Wyoming has no exclusive hauler; residents pick from licensed companies. Its code says no vehicle may pick up, haul or transport garbage or rubbish in the city unless the owner has a City license for that vehicle. Hauling for yourself, or free for someone else, is exempt. Items too big for a closed truck may ride in an open vehicle only if that vehicle is City-licensed. The license is $30 per vehicle a year, renews each July, and needs $500,000/$1,000,000 liability and $100,000 property damage insurance. Kent County also licenses haulers yearly.

Free spring Clean-Up Day for residents

Wyoming's Community Clean-Up Day (April 18 in 2026, at 2100 44th Street SW) lets residents drop off unwanted items and scrap metal for free with proof of residency. The City's page doesn't list construction debris either way, so ask before bringing shed lumber.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Wyoming?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp lists $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Kent County, depending on size, condition and type.

Can I haul the debris myself without a license?

Yes. Wyoming's code says no license is needed to haul garbage or rubbish on a noncommercial basis, for yourself or free for someone else. A paid crew's truck needs the City license.

Where does a pickup load of shed debris go?

South Kent Recycling & Waste Center at 10300 South Kent Drive in Byron Center takes residents' trash for $40 per pickup, van or SUV load up to 1,400 lb, under County rates effective October 1, 2026. It is open Saturdays until 3:30 p.m.

What about the concrete slab?

Kent County lists Full Circle Recycle for concrete, stone and gravel, with sites on Broadmoor Avenue SE and Ann Street NW in Grand Rapids. Concrete that can't be reused is also free at South Kent.

Where can a metal shed go?

PADNOS Burton Recycling Center at 719 Burton St SW buys steel and aluminum scrap. Break the panels down and strip off wood and plastic first.

Is an old shed an asbestos job?

Not under the federal rule for most homes: Michigan EGLE says privately owned homes with four or fewer units aren't subject to the asbestos NESHAP. Kent County still won't take asbestos at its facilities, so test old cement siding or roofing first.

Do I need to call before pulling posts or a slab?

Yes. Michigan law requires utility lines to be flagged before any digging. Contact MISS DIG 811 before you pull footings, posts or ground anchors.
