SHED REMOVAL IN WAKE FOREST

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Wake Forest shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Wake Forest requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Wake Forest ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Wake Forest asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Wake Forest rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Likely yes. State law requires the building code's permits before demolishing any structure, and Wake Forest charges $240 for a demolition permit. The Town publishes no size exemption for teardowns.

City pickup

No. Wake Forest's bulk pickup refuses construction material, concrete and lumber. It can take shed contents like furniture; two pickups a year are free, then $50 each.

Haul it yourself

Wake County Convenience Center Site 7. No fee is listed on the County's pages. Residency is verified, and construction debris requires a Waste Verification Form.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: Oak City Hauling lists $299 to $549 to haul away a shed already down, and $650 to $950 to tear down and haul a standing 10x12. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 in Wake County.

Do I need a permit?Wake Forest demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

A teardown needs the Town's demolition permit

North Carolina law says no one may demolish or remove any building or structure without first getting the permits the State Building Code requires. Wake Forest's residential fee list charges $240 for a demolition permit. The Town's 12-foot rule is for building a shed: a building permit is needed when a shed is larger than 12 feet in any dimension or has electricity, and a development permit is almost always needed. Nothing published says whether the same split applies to tearing one down.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

What else should I know in Wake Forest?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

No Town franchise for debris hauling, but haulers need a County license

Wake Forest's solid waste code has no hauler permit or franchise for construction and demolition debris. It makes the builder, or else the property owner, responsible for disposing of building debris. Wake County separately bars anyone from collecting or transporting solid waste for hire without its Solid Waste Hauler's Privilege License, $100 a year. Every company listed here appears on the County's Fiscal Year 2027 licensed hauler list.

The County sites in Wake Forest don't take shed debris

Wake County's Convenience Centers Site 6 on Lillie Liles Road and Site 8 on Durham Road are both in Wake Forest, but household construction debris goes only to Sites 1, 2, 4, 7 and 11. The closest of those is Site 7 on Deponie Drive in north Raleigh. Sites 6 and 8 still take shed contents as household trash and bulky items under 8 feet, plus scrap metal.

Historic district and historic sheds need a COA

Wake Forest's Local Historic District runs along North Main Street with a portion on South Avenue, and any exterior work there needs a Certificate of Appropriateness. The Town's demolition ordinance also requires a COA before a demolition permit for any historic structure in town, even outside the district, and the review can delay demolition up to 365 days. A demolition COA costs $200. Call preservation staff at 919-435-9516.

The Town may be your power company

Wake Forest Power, a division of the Town, serves nearly 9,000 electric customers. If a shed has a circuit and you're on Town power, call Wake Forest Power at 919-435-9478 about disconnecting it.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.
