SHED REMOVAL IN FAIRFIELD

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Fairfield shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Fairfield requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Fairfield ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Fairfield asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Fairfield rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes. City code requires a permit to demolish a building or structure. The demolition fee is $30 per 1,000 square feet. Questions: Building and Zoning, 513-867-5318.

City pickup

Partly. Rumpke takes wood and lumber bundled under 4 feet and 50 pounds; call 24 hours ahead for large loads. Concrete, bricks and drywall aren't accepted.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Butler County. Larry's Junk Removal says its average job starts at $99; the others quote by photo, phone or on site.

Do I need a permit?Fairfield demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

A teardown needs a permit from Building and Zoning

Section 1309.01 says anyone who wants to demolish a building or structure must first get a permit from the Building Superintendent, with a separate permit for each structure. The fee table lists demolition or wrecking of buildings at $30 per 1,000 square feet, and the City's fee sheet adds a 1% state assessment on residential permits. Starting work without a permit costs double the fee or $100, whichever is more. Apply through the online permit center or at 5350 Pleasant Avenue.

02

Shut off utilities and grade the spot

The demolition section requires sewers to be plugged and capped and water and gas shut off at the main. When nothing new is planned, the lot must be filled, graded and kept free of rubbish.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Fairfield pick up shed debris?

Some of it. Rumpke collects Fairfield's trash and lists wood among items it accepts. Loose lumber must be bundled and tied, no longer than 4 feet and no heavier than 50 pounds, and you must call Rumpke 24 hours ahead for large items or extra trash. Drywall, concrete, bricks, dirt and rocks aren't accepted. Call Rumpke at 1-800-582-3107 before setting out a whole shed.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Rumpke Sanitary Landfill

3800 Struble Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45251 (Colerain Township)

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 8 to 11:30 a.m. Call (800) 828-8171 for drop-off prices.

H. Hafner & Sons Construction/Demolition Debris Recycling Center

5445 Wooster Pike, Cincinnati, OH 45226

Licensed construction and demolition debris landfill and recycling center. It accepts the structural parts of a demolished building, such as lumber and framing, siding and roofing, windows and doors, wiring and insulation, plus clean hard fill like concrete, brick and block. It does not take household trash, furniture, appliances or home cleanouts.

Fees: Hamilton County lists $65.80 for a residential pickup truckload, level with the top of the bed, not prorated for smaller loads. Hafner's own page says to call for disposal rates.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to noon. Call 513-321-1895 to confirm current rates.

Hamilton Transfer Station (Municipal Refuse Transfer Station)

1000 N Third St, Hamilton, OH 45011

City-owned refuse transfer station run by Rumpke and open to residents and businesses. Its rate sign lists flat fees by vehicle and per-item fees for bulky items and appliances. It does not say whether it takes construction or demolition debris such as shed lumber and roofing.

Fees: 2024 rate sign: resident car, SUV or minivan $22, pickup or full-size van $62; non-resident $25.50 and $68. Bulky items $25.25 in-city, $28 out of city. City refuse customers can request one free trip voucher. Confirm current rates.

Before you go: Rumpke lists hours as Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.; the City says it also takes items on Saturday for a fee. Call 513-867-8661 before hauling shed debris.

Cohen Recycling (Reading Road drive-thru)

12175 Reading Road, Sharonville, OH

Public drive-thru scrap metal yard for public and commercial customers. It weighs metal and pays for it, so a cut-down metal shed's panels and framing can go here.

Fees: No fee to drop off metal; it pays by weight. Prices change often and some items carry a processing fee.

Before you go: Open weekdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; closed weekends. Bring a valid photo ID. Call (513) 733-0606 for current prices.

What else should I know in Fairfield?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

No hauler licence; demolition debris isn't city "solid waste"

Fairfield repealed its commercial hauler licence in 1994, and no section found gives one company sole rights to haul debris. Rumpke holds the City's residential trash contract. City code leaves demolition debris, such as framing lumber and roofing, out of its definition of solid waste. The rule against unauthorized pickup covers recyclables set out at the curb, not shed debris.

Discard Day takes scrap metal once a year

The City's annual Discard Day at the Fairfield Aquatic Center, 2605 Augusta Blvd., takes scrap metal, bulk trash and yard waste from residents with ID. The 2026 event was Saturday, October 17. It doesn't take paint or hazardous materials.

Rules for a replacement shed

Fairfield allows up to three enclosed accessory structures per lot, with 300 square feet in total on most lots (excluding a detached garage). Sheds must sit at least six feet from side and rear lines. Any accessory building over 100 square feet can't have walls of metal, resin, plastic or cinderblock.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Fairfield?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Butler County, lower if it's already taken apart. Larry's Junk Removal says its average job starts at $99, and HaulAway Pro prices each shed by size, material and whether the slab goes too.

Where can I take shed debris myself?

Rumpke's landfill on Struble Road in Colerain Township takes construction and demolition debris and scrap lumber; call (800) 828-8171 for a price. Hafner's debris landfill in Cincinnati's Linwood area is listed at $65.80 for a level pickup load and takes no household trash.

Where does a metal shed go?

Cohen Recycling's public drive-thru at 12175 Reading Road in Sharonville weighs metal and pays for it, weekdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring a valid photo ID and call (513) 733-0606 for prices.

Can the concrete pad come out too?

Ask when you get a price. HaulAway Pro says it removes the pad or anchors if you want, and Larry's says to tell them about a pad first. Rumpke won't take concrete at the curb; Hafner's landfill takes clean concrete, brick and block.

Who calls 811 before posts or footings are dug out?

Whoever digs. Ohio law puts it on the person doing the excavation to notify OHIO811 at least two working days ahead, not counting the day you call. Fairfield notes the call is free for homeowners.

Do I need a permit for a new shed?

Usually. City code requires a permit for any building over 100 square feet. A shed of 150 square feet or less on wooden skids needs only a free zoning certificate, unless it sits on a slab or foundation. New sheds get footing, framing and final inspections.
