SHED REMOVAL IN HAMILTON

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Hamilton shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Hamilton requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Hamilton ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Hamilton asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Hamilton rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes, plan on one. City code sets a $150 demolition permit fee for one- to three-family homes and their accessory structures. No small-shed exemption was found. Building Department: (513) 785-7360.

City pickup

Not confirmed. Large-item pickup takes two items a week, like furniture; the City doesn't say whether shed lumber counts, and Rumpke's bulk rules exclude construction debris.

Haul it yourself

Hamilton Transfer Station (Municipal Refuse Transfer Station). 2024 rate sign: resident car, SUV or minivan $22, pickup or full-size van $62; non-resident $25.50 and $68. Bulky items $25.25 in-city, $28 out of city. City refuse customers can request one free trip voucher. Confirm current rates.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Butler County. College HUNKS shows $99 to $699 for general junk loads, and Junk King prices by truck space. Others quote each shed.

Do I need a permit?Hamilton demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

A $150 demolition permit

Hamilton enforces the Ohio Building Code through its Building Department. City code sets demolition permit fees at $150 for one-, two- and three-family homes and their accessory structures, and one permit covers several structures on the same lot. Demolition permits skip the up-front application fee; the fee schedule adds a 1% state surcharge. The City publishes a demolition permit application; send it to building@hamilton-oh.gov or call (513) 785-7360. No rule exempting small sheds from a demolition permit was found.

03

Asbestos

Ohio EPA says a home with four or fewer units is not a 'facility' under its emission rules, but its licensing rules apply whenever more than 50 square feet of regulated asbestos is disturbed. Older sheds can have asbestos siding or roofing.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Hamilton pick up shed debris?

Not confirmed. Rumpke collects trash for the City, and residents can set out two large items a week, such as furniture and mattresses, by calling 513-867-8661 at least 24 hours ahead. The City page doesn't say whether shed lumber or roofing qualifies, and yard waste can't include construction materials. Rumpke's general bulk trash rules say construction debris like drywall, concrete and bricks isn't accepted curbside.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

What else should I know in Hamilton?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Hauling trash needs a City license, but demolition debris is carved out

Hamilton has no franchise hauler for demolition debris. City code requires anyone collecting, transporting or disposing of other people's solid waste in the city to hold a Director of Finance license, $25 a year for each truck, and says only the City's collection contractor (Rumpke) may collect solid waste. But the code's definition of solid waste leaves out demolition debris, naming framing lumber, roofing, wiring and insulation; items that must be removed before demolition, like a shed's contents, are not carved out. Loads on City streets must not leak, spill or scatter.

Historic areas need ADRB approval

Any exterior work on a structure in one of Hamilton's historic areas, or on an individually listed property, needs a certificate of appropriateness from the Architectural Design Review Board. Like-for-like and minor changes get a free administrative approval, usually within two business days; bigger work goes to a Board hearing, held the first and third Tuesdays. The ADRB's guidelines cover demolitions. The 'Require Historic Board Approval' layer on the City's zoning map shows which lots are covered.

One free transfer station trip per household

Each City utility and refuse customer can request one voucher for a trip to the Hamilton Transfer Station at no cost. Call 513-867-8661.

Paint and chemicals from the shed

Butler County runs a household hazardous waste program for county residents. For immediate disposal, the County points to Environmental Enterprise at 513-541-1823. It sends non-Freon appliances to scrap metal dealers.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Hamilton?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Butler County, lower if it's already taken apart. College HUNKS shows $99 to $699 as example ranges for general junk loads, and Junk King prices by the space a load takes in its truck. Larry's says its quotes include labor, disposal fees and taxes, and HaulAway Pro gives a firm price after seeing the shed.

Where can I take shed debris myself?

The Hamilton Transfer Station at 1000 N. Third St. charges Hamilton residents a flat $22 for a car or SUV load and $62 for a pickup, per its 2024 rate sign; it doesn't list construction debris, so call 513-867-8661 first. Rumpke's landfill in Colerain Township takes demolition debris and scrap lumber but posts no price. H. Hafner & Sons in Cincinnati is listed at $65.80 for a pickup truckload of construction and demolition debris.

What about the concrete pad?

No City rule on removing a shed slab was found; ask the Building Department. Hafner takes clean hard fill like concrete and crushes it for reuse, and Rumpke's landfill takes concrete as construction debris. HaulAway Pro says it removes slabs, footings and anchors on request.

Do I need a permit to disconnect the shed's wiring?

Electric work that needs a permit must be done by a City-registered electrician, or by an owner-occupant of a single-family home doing it personally. Ask the Building Department, (513) 785-7360, whether removing a shed circuit needs a permit. Before digging out posts or footings, contact OHIO811 at 811 or 1-800-362-2764.

Will the crew take the shed down or just haul it?

Junk King's Hamilton page says it handles shed removal and small garage demos. Larry's and HaulAway Pro say they take the whole shed down and haul it away. College HUNKS lists storage sheds among items it removes but doesn't describe tearing them down.

Does my shed need historic review?

Only if the lot is in one of Hamilton's historic areas or is individually listed. Check the 'Require Historic Board Approval' layer on the City's zoning map. If it is, get a certificate of appropriateness from the ADRB through the Planning Department before the shed comes down.
