PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL
Here’s what Parma asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.
Yes. Parma requires a permit to demolish a shed; its demolition form lists accessory structures, and any contractor must be registered with the City. The accessory building fee is $15.

Not confirmed. Rumpke's weekly bulk pickup won't take construction debris such as drywall, concrete and bricks, and doesn't say whether shed lumber counts. Call Rumpke, 800-828-8171.

Rosby Resource Recycling. Mixed construction debris and clean wood: $10.25 per cubic yard plus $2.60 per ton, 5 cubic yard minimum. Shingles: $12.25 per cubic yard plus $2.60 per ton. Masonry: $35 per ton, 2-ton minimum. Demolition debris: call for pricing.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗
Code §1501.15 requires a permit from the Building Commissioner before removing any building, structure or part of one. The Building Department says permits are required for demolitions of sheds, garages, fences and other structures. Its demolition form has a box for an accessory structure (shed, gazebo, etc.) and asks for the square footage, height, materials and foundation type. The fee for an accessory building is $15. Building Department: 440-885-8030, 6611 Ridge Road.

Work started without a permit draws a $100 penalty the first time, $300 the second and $500 the third, added to the permit fee, and the work stops until the permit is issued. Owner-occupied single-family homes can get the first $100 waived once. The permit must be posted where it can be seen from the street until five days after the final inspection.
Parma Codified Ordinances §1501.15–1501.20: Permits required; separate permits; applications ↗
Parma requires separate permits for electrical work. The demolition form asks whether the shed's base or foundation will be removed, and reusing a foundation needs prior approval from the Building Department.

Ohio EPA says a residential building with four or fewer dwelling units is not a 'facility' under its asbestos emission rules unless it is part of a larger installation, but its licensing rule may still apply to residential demolition. Older sheds can have asbestos siding or roofing.
Not confirmed. Rumpke is Parma's waste and recycling company, and it picks up bulky items such as appliances, mattresses and large furniture on the weekly rubbish day. Rumpke's bulk rules say construction debris like drywall, concrete and bricks isn't accepted curbside, and it asks you to call about other options. Neither page says whether a cut-up wooden or metal shed can go out. Call Rumpke at 800-828-8171 before setting it at the curb.

Parma has no franchise hauler for demolition debris, but City code bars any business from collecting and disposing of waste 'and all other refuse or discarded material' in the city without a permit from the Director of Public Service. Each truck pays a yearly fee and carries a 'Private Waste Hauler Permit, Parma, Ohio' windshield sticker, and each driver needs a registration certificate. Owners hauling their own waste, not for hire, are exempt.

Parma's demolition application says any contractor you use must be registered with the City. Registration costs $125 a year ($90 if renewed by January 31), and starting work without it costs $250. The Building Department points to its Citizenserve portal for the list of registered contractors.

Parma doesn't run a drop-off. The County's list shows the nearest stations open to the public are Rumpke's in Broadview Heights and Newburgh Heights, and Strongsville's station takes only Strongsville residents. For shed debris, the County's construction and demolition debris sites are the better fit.
