SHED REMOVAL IN STRONGSVILLE

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Strongsville shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Strongsville requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Strongsville asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Strongsville rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes. City code requires a permit before removing any building or structure. The residential demolition fees are $50 for building and $50 for engineering. Questions: 440-580-3105.

City pickup

Not confirmed: Republic takes doors, furniture and other large items at the curb, but the City doesn't say it takes shed lumber, and bags must stay under 50 pounds.

Haul it yourself

Rosby Resource Recycling. Mixed construction debris and clean wood: $10.25 per cubic yard plus $2.60 per ton, 5 cubic yard minimum. Shingles: $12.25 per cubic yard plus $2.60 per ton. Masonry: $35 per ton, 2-ton minimum. Demolition debris: call for pricing.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Cuyahoga County. Junk Gone Today lists construction debris loads from $150 for a quarter truck; the others quote online, by phone or on site.

Do I need a permit?Strongsville demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

A teardown needs a permit; plans aren't required

Strongsville's code requires a permit from the Commissioner of Buildings before the removal of any building or other structure, and no section exempts small sheds. For a removal, the application doesn't need the full plans that new work does. The residential fee table lists $50 for residential demolition (building) and $50 for residential demolition (engineering), plus a 1% state fee. Work started without a permit costs triple. Apply online through the City's iWorq portal or in person at 16099 Foltz Parkway; call 440-580-3105.

02

Who may pull the permit

Every contractor working in Strongsville must register with the Building Department before a permit is issued. Registration costs $100 per trade, with a $10,000 bond and liability insurance of $500,000 per occurrence that names the City as an additional insured. Homeowners may get a permit only for work they do themselves on their own home.

03

Wiring to the shed

Ohio's residential code requires approval before anyone removes or alters an electrical, gas or plumbing system. Strongsville registers electrical contractors separately and lists electrical work among projects that need a permit, so have a registered electrician cut and cap a shed circuit before teardown.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Strongsville pick up shed debris?

Not for a whole shed. Republic Services collects Strongsville's trash and takes sofas, doors, dressers and other large items at the curb on trash day, but the City's page doesn't mention lumber, roofing or construction debris. City code caps bags at 50 pounds. The City's drop-off station refuses construction and remodeling waste. Ask Republic at (440) 572-7590 before setting out any shed pieces.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Rosby Resource Recycling

54 E. Schaaf Rd, Brooklyn Heights, OH 44131

Ohio EPA-licensed construction and demolition debris landfill and recycling site, open to the public. Fees: Mixed construction debris and clean wood: $10.25 per cubic yard plus $2.60 per ton, 5 cubic yard minimum. Shingles: $12.25 per cubic yard plus $2.60 per ton. Masonry: $35 per ton, 2-ton minimum. Demolition debris: call for pricing.

Before you go: Open Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays 8 a.m. to noon from May through October. Cash and cards accepted. Call (216) 661-6102 ext. 3.

11311 Rockside Rd, Valley View, OH 44125

Fees: Construction debris: $15 per cubic yard, $75 minimum. Prices may change and may carry a fuel surcharge.

What else should I know in Strongsville?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Haulers need a $150 City licence; no exclusive debris franchise found

Strongsville's code says no one may collect solid waste in the City without a licence from the Director of Public Service, at $150 a year. Licensees file a monthly list of their customers, may work only from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, and have their equipment inspected. The code counts demolition debris as solid waste only to the extent it's in the normal household waste stream, so it doesn't say whether a shed teardown load needs the licence. Republic Services holds the City's trash contract, but no section gives any company sole rights to haul debris.

The Foltz Parkway station takes a metal shed's panels, not its lumber

Republic runs a transfer station behind the Municipal Building at 16099 Foltz Parkway for Strongsville residents with proof of residency. It takes scrap metal, appliances, brush and extra household trash, but not construction or remodeling waste, paint, bricks or concrete blocks. Since August 1, 2026 it takes cards only. Open weekdays 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and weekends 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Household hazardous waste days at the Service Center

The City holds household hazardous waste collections at the Service Center, 16099 Foltz Parkway; in 2026 they ran in April and August. They take oil-based paint, stains, roof tar, gasoline and pesticides, but not latex paint. Dry latex paint out with the lid off and put it in the trash.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

How much does shed removal cost in Strongsville?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Cuyahoga County, lower if it's already taken apart. Junk Gone Today's general rates start at $150 for a quarter truckload of construction debris, up to $450 for a full truck. Ohio Junk Force has an online estimator.

Can I haul the debris myself?

Yes. Rosby Resource Recycling in Brooklyn Heights takes mixed construction debris at $10.25 a cubic yard plus $2.60 a ton, with a 5-yard minimum, but prices building tear-down debris by phone. Boyas Recycling in Valley View charges $15 a cubic yard for construction debris, $75 minimum. Call either first.

Where does a metal shed go?

Strongsville residents can drop scrap metal at the Foltz Parkway station. American Metal Recycling on York Road in North Royalton is open to the public with a drive-on scale and pays for metal; bring photo ID.

Can the concrete slab come out too?

Ask when you get a price; Junk Gone Today quotes concrete separately. If you break it up yourself, Rosby takes brick, block and concrete with no dirt at $35 a ton, two-ton minimum. The City's drop-off station won't take concrete blocks.

Does an old shed need an asbestos check?

Ohio's asbestos demolition rules don't cover residential buildings with four or fewer homes, and Strongsville publishes no asbestos rule for sheds. Boyas won't take asbestos. If siding or roofing looks like old cement board, ask Ohio EPA's asbestos program at 614-466-0061.

Who calls 811 before posts or footings are dug out?

Whoever digs. Ohio law puts it on the person doing the excavation to notify OHIO811 at least two working days ahead, not counting the day you call.

Do I need a permit for a new shed?

Yes. The Building Department lists sheds among projects that need a permit. The fee is figured from the shed's value at half the standard rate, with a $50 minimum, and includes building and topographical review.
