SHED REMOVAL IN NORMAN

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Norman shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Norman requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Norman ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Norman asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Norman rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes, plan on one. City code requires a permit to remove any building or structure, and the demolition permit is $20 for one story. Starting without it doubles the fee.

City pickup

No. Trash carts can't take lumber or demolition debris, and the seasonal cleanups refuse lumber and shingles. Shed debris goes to the Transfer Station instead.

Haul it yourself

Norman Transfer Station (City of Norman). Standard rate (non-residents and commercial waste): $92 per ton or $80 up to 600 pounds. Residents showing the operating city's utility bill pay $40 per ton or $13 up to 600 pounds for home remodel waste. Gate staff decide which rate applies.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp lists $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Cleveland County. The other local crews listed here quote each shed from photos or a visit.

Do I need a permit?Norman demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

A permit to remove a shed

Norman Code §6-104 says no one may alter, build, enlarge, remove, relocate or repair any building or other structure without the needed permits. The fee schedule sets the demolition permit at $20 for the first floor and $12.50 for each added floor, and the fee doubles if work starts before the permit is issued. Apply through the City's online portal; Development Services: 405-366-5339.

02

The small-shed exemption is written for the building code

Norman's residential code exempts one-story tool and storage sheds of 120 square feet or less from permits if they sit on no slab, foundation or permanent base and have no electric, plumbing or gas service. The code doesn't say whether that also covers tearing one down, so ask Development Services before skipping the permit.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

What else should I know in Norman?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Hauled waste must go to a City-approved disposal site

Norman has no franchise hauler for demolition debris that we could find. But City code says no one may haul garbage, refuse, rubbish or other waste on Norman streets except to an approved sanitary landfill operated by the City or its designated contract agent. Only fill dirt, rock and gravel for grading are excepted. The code doesn't say whether that means the City Transfer Station, or how it applies to a removal crew hauling its own job's debris.

Three historic districts review shed demolitions

The Chautauqua, Miller and Southridge historic districts need a Certificate of Appropriateness before any demolition. A non-historic accessory structure under 120 square feet can be approved by staff through Administrative Bypass with no fee. Other requests go to the Historic District Commission, which meets the first Monday of the month; the fee is $75. Call 405-366-5392.

Fall cleanup won't take shed lumber

Norman's fall 2026 curbside cleanup runs on Saturdays from September 26 to October 24, by trash day. It refuses lumber, shingles, sheetrock, concrete and other remodeling or demolition debris. On those Saturdays the Transfer Station is free for Norman sanitation customers who bring a utility bill, but commercial construction debris still pays the normal gate rate.

Free self-serve scrap metal drop for residents

Norman residents can leave most scrap metal at a self-serve area between the Household Hazardous Waste Facility and the Transfer Station. It does not take aluminum items or fence materials, so check before bringing an aluminum shed. Call 405-292-9776.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.
