PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL
Here’s what Tulsa asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.
Plan on one. Tulsa's fee code charges $133 for a permit to demolish any building or structure, and no size exemption for tearing down a shed is published. HP-zoned districts also need Preservation Commission approval.

No. Bulky waste pickup refuses demolition debris such as lumber, shingles and siding. It takes only a resident's own small remodeling debris, boxed, up to one cubic yard.
Tulsa Indoor Dump (Tulsa Recycle & Transfer). $55 minimum per load (up to 2,000 lbs.), then $0.55 per 20 lbs. Debit and credit cards only.

Others here: A2Z Junk Removal lists $375 to $650 to tear down and haul an empty shed. LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Tulsa County, and Local Boyz cites $200 to $2,500.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗
Tulsa's building code covers the removal and demolition of every building or structure, and Title 49 §314 sets the fee for a permit to demolish any building or structure at $133. The same section calls for a $5,000 minimum bond to protect neighbors, which the code official may waive when a structure can come down without damaging adjoining property. Ask the Permit Center at 175 E. 2nd St., 4th floor, (918) 596-9456.

§314 points to a separate sewer plug permit, and the City's demolition application says the sewer line must be plugged at the main and inspected before the permit is issued. Most sheds have no plumbing; if yours has a sink or drain, ask the Permit Center about this step.

Tulsa won't issue a demolition permit without proof of an asbestos inspection, but §314 exempts privately owned residential structures with four or fewer dwelling units. Oklahoma DEQ likewise says the federal asbestos rule doesn't apply to those homes unless the project has a commercial or public purpose. Old cement-board siding still needs care: Tulsa Indoor Dump refuses asbestos, while American Environmental Landfill handles it.

No. Tulsa's bulky waste pickup costs $20 per 8 cubic yards and lists contractor remodeling or demolition debris, such as fencing, shingles, wallboard, lumber or siding, among the items it won't take. The one exception is remodeling debris from a small project done by the resident at that address, boxed separately and no more than one cubic yard. If a pickup includes items it doesn't accept, you're still charged and nothing is collected.
If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗
1150 N Peoria Ave, Tulsa, OK 74106

Tulsa has no single franchised hauler for demolition debris, but Title 11-B §600 makes it an offense to collect, remove or transport solid waste in the City without a City waste collector's license, and the code's definition of solid waste includes construction and demolition waste. People hauling their own waste, not for hire, are exempt (§601). License types, fees and insurance are set in the Director's rules, which aren't posted. Ask Refuse & Recycling through 311.

In Tulsa's historic preservation (HP) zoned neighborhoods, any demolition must be approved first by the Tulsa Preservation Commission or its staff. Staff can issue some HP permits without a Commission hearing, and some work is exempt; ask TPC staff before taking down an outbuilding there.

Tulsa Indoor Dump on N. Peoria Ave., just north of downtown, calls itself the only state-licensed transfer station in Tulsa open to the public. It takes construction and demolition material at a five-door pickup dump area, but not asbestos. Cards only.
The Metropolitan Environmental Trust runs recycling centers around the metro, but only its Broken Arrow center at 302 N. Elm Pl. takes scrap metal. That is the nearest public drop-off for a dismantled metal shed.
Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.
