SHED REMOVAL IN COLLIERVILLE

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Collierville shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Collierville requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Collierville ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Collierville asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Collierville rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes. Collierville requires a Town permit to demolish a building or structure and has struck the model code's small-structure exemptions. The fee isn't published; call Building and Codes at 901-457-2310.

City pickup

Partly. If you tear the shed down yourself, Town code counts wood-type construction material as yard waste, but not roofing, concrete or brick. Debris from a contractor's job isn't collected.

Haul it yourself

Collierville Solid Waste Transfer Station (Town of Collierville). No fee is published.

What it costs

Do I need a permit?Collierville demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Demolition needs a Town permit, sheds included

Collierville's residential code says any owner or authorized agent who intends to demolish a building or structure must first apply to the building official and get a permit. The Town deleted the first four items on the model code's list of work exempt from a permit, the list where small detached sheds normally appear. Its FAQ also lists an accessory structure as needing a permit.

02

Wiring comes out under a permit, by a licensed electrician

The Town says you need a permit before you remove any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system. Town code issues electrical permits only to a business licensed by the State of Tennessee or a Shelby County master electrician, so a shed's circuit should be disconnected by a licensed electrician.

03

Homeowners can pull some permits

The Town says homeowners may get their own building permits depending on the scope of work, but a state or county licensed contractor is required for all mechanical, plumbing and electrical work.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Collierville pick up shed debris?

Some of it, if you do the work yourself. Town code lets yard waste include wood-type construction material, collected weekly in one pile; the Town's guidelines cap it at 10 cubic yards a week and charge $225 a load beyond that. Dirt, concrete, brick, and large amounts of carpet or roofing are not collected. The Town won't collect for contractor-related projects: scrap lumber, roofing and concrete from demolition must be disposed of privately. Old furniture and clean-outs from the shed go out as weekly bulk items.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Hauling rule: Town controls refuse; contractors haul their own debris

Collierville has no franchised hauler for demolition debris. Town code puts collection of all refuse in town limits under the Director of Public Services and bans disposal anywhere but sites the Board of Mayor and Aldermen designates. It also says the Town won't collect for contractor-related projects, and the Town's guidelines say the occupant or contractor must dispose of construction and demolition debris privately. The code doesn't set a hauler license or say how removal crews are treated.

The Town runs its own permit office

Collierville issues its own construction permits through the Building and Codes Division on the east side of Town Hall, 500 Poplar View Parkway, open weekdays 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. (901-457-2310). Contractors can apply through the Town's iWorQ portal. The building permit application has its own fee line for demolition and asks for the contractor's license number and Collierville business license.

Historic District work needs approval first

Anyone doing construction, alteration, relocation or demolition in the H-1 Historic District around downtown must apply to the Historic District Commission for a Certificate of Appropriateness, and no building permit is issued until that's decided. Call the Planning Division before taking down a shed there.

Asbestos rules come from the county Health Department

The Shelby County Health Department regulates demolition involving asbestos in the Memphis and Shelby County area and says an asbestos survey must be done before any demolition. Older sheds can have asbestos in cement siding or roofing. It doesn't say how this applies to a small backyard shed, so call 901-222-8270.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

What does shed removal cost in Collierville?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Shelby County, lower if it's already taken apart. MidSouth Removal prices sheds on size, access and materials after an on-site look. JunkBusters Mid-South and The Junk Llamas give free quotes.

Can I haul the debris to the Town's transfer station?

Collierville residents can take extra household garbage and large bulky items such as sofas, mattresses and chairs to the Town's Solid Waste Transfer Station at 450 East South Street on Saturdays, 8 a.m. to noon. The Town doesn't list construction debris there, so call Public Services at 901-457-2800 before you load shed lumber.

Where does a contractor's load go?

The Town's guidelines point contractor debris to Quad County Landfill, which it says operates a public site (901-300-3263). Waste Connections calls it a construction and demolition landfill, takes checks and cards but not cash, and requires a safety vest. Railroad Avenue Disposal in Olive Branch, Mississippi, also takes only construction and demolition materials.

What about old paint and chemicals in the shed?

Keep them out of the green cart. The Town sends gasoline, oil-based paint, solvents, pesticides, pool chlorine and batteries to the Memphis and Shelby County Household Hazardous Waste facility at 6305 Haley Road, open Tuesdays and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dried-out latex paint can go in the green cart.

Does a shed in the Historic District need extra approval?

Yes. Demolition in the H-1 Historic District needs a Certificate of Appropriateness from the Historic District Commission or a ruling by the Development Director before the Town issues the permit.
