SHED REMOVAL IN NASHVILLE

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Nashville shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Nashville requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Nashville ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Nashville asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Nashville rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes. Metro Codes requires a building permit to demolish any structure. No flat demolition fee is published; residential permits run $5 per $1,000 of job value plus small add-ons. Call 615-862-6500.

City pickup

No. Metro bans construction debris from trash carts and has no curbside bulky pickup. Residents can drop a small do-it-yourself load at the Omohundro center for $20.

Haul it yourself

Omohundro Convenience Center (Nashville Waste Services). Construction and demolition material $20 a visit, up to 2 cubic yards (Metro's bulky item page gives a 1 cubic yard limit). Cash isn't accepted here; cards carry a 2.8% fee, $1.95 minimum.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Davidson County. Junk Busters, Wallaby Land Works and Rodeo quote on site; College HUNKS prices by truck space.

Do I need a permit?Nashville demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

Every teardown needs a Codes permit

Metro Code requires a permit from Codes before anyone demolishes a building or structure or part of one, and Metro's residential permit page lists "Demolish any structure or portion thereof." Every application must include a plan for disposing of the demolition waste. Residential permits cost $5 per $1,000 of valuation; Metro's 2022 fee sheet adds a $25 zoning exam fee and a 10% tech fee, and rates rise each July 1. Demolition permits skip the plan review fee.

02

Historic overlays need a preservation permit

In a historic overlay, Metro Code makes the contractor sign an affidavit about the limits of the demolition before Codes issues the permit, and the Metro Historic Zoning Commission reviews exterior work. Ask the Commission at 615-880-4900 whether your shed needs its review; Codes can take the building permit application at the same time.

03

Clear every scrap and fill the hole

Whoever demolishes a structure must keep the debris dampened or covered so dust doesn't blow onto neighbors or the street, remove all of it from the lot, and fill any below-grade area back to grade. That covers old pier holes and a dug-out floor.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Nashville pick up shed debris?

No. Metro's trash guidelines ban construction debris from the cart and say residential construction waste must go with a private hauler or contractor. Metro Code makes the property owner responsible for hauling off scrap lumber, roofing and concrete from demolition. There's no curbside bulky pickup; Waste Services sends anything too big for a cart to a convenience center, and only the Omohundro center takes a small do-it-yourself load of demolition debris.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Omohundro Convenience Center (Nashville Waste Services)

1019 Omohundro Pl, Nashville, TN 37210

Metro drop-off for Davidson County residents and the only Metro center that takes small do-it-yourself loads of construction and demolition material. Its not-accepted list includes roofing shingles, siding, posts, concrete, brick and asbestos. Scrap metal items are taken free.

Fees: Construction and demolition material $20 a visit, up to 2 cubic yards (Metro's bulky item page gives a 1 cubic yard limit). Cash isn't accepted here; cards carry a 2.8% fee, $1.95 minimum.

Before you go: Open Tuesday to Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Metro holidays. Bring a Tennessee driver's license showing a Davidson County address; no commercial vehicles or commercial tags. Call 615-862-5000 with questions.

Central Pike construction and demolition landfill (listed by Metro as Triune Residuals Management)

3516 Central Pike, Hermitage, TN 37076

Construction and demolition landfill that Metro lists for larger loads. Metro says it takes debris from building demolition, including roofing shingles, lumber, scrap metal, bricks, concrete and other masonry.

Fees: Not published.

Before you go: Call 615-573-8004 for rates, hours and whether it takes pickup loads from the public.

American Farms Top Soil

2132 Smith Springs Rd, Nashville, TN 37217

Topsoil and recycling yard with dump sites for clean rock, dirt, concrete and asphalt. Metro lists it for concrete, concrete with rebar, brick, block, rock, gravel and green waste. Fits a broken-up slab or pavers, not wood or shingles.

Fees: Dump fees aren't posted. Metro's recycler list notes a $20 minimum pick-up fee for its haul service.

Before you go: Call 615-573-0293 before you go.

What else should I know in Nashville?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Every paid hauler needs a Metro permit decal

Nashville has no exclusive hauler for demolition debris. But Metro Code requires anyone who hauls construction and demolition waste for a fee on Davidson County roads to get a yearly Waste Services permit for each truck or trailer, with the decal on the windshield. Permits cost $60 a year for vehicles under 3 cubic yards and $120 above that, and Metro fines $50 a day per unpermitted vehicle. Homeowners hauling their own debris aren't covered by this rule.

Asbestos rules aim at bigger buildings

Metro Public Health's Pollution Control Division enforces asbestos rules in Davidson County. Its brochure lists commercial, industrial and public buildings and residential buildings with five or more units as regulated, which leaves a shed at a single home unclear. If an old shed has cement siding or felt roofing, call the division at (615) 340-5653 before it comes down.

Belle Meade runs its own permits

Belle Meade issues its own building permits, including demolition. Since March 15, 2026, any property there issued a demolition permit must put up a locking security fence, at least 6 feet tall, before the permit is issued. Call its Building and Codes Office at (615) 297-6041 ext. 218.

Paint and chemicals go to East or Ezell Pike

Old paint, stain, gas and garden chemicals shouldn't ride with the debris. Metro's East and Ezell Pike convenience centers take household hazardous waste free, up to 15 gallons or 100 pounds a visit.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

What does shed removal cost in Nashville?

Shed Gone prices each shed from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included. Among other companies, LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559 for a shed in Davidson County and says a shed that's already taken apart costs less. Junk Busters, Wallaby Land Works and Rodeo Junk Removal give free estimates on site.

Can I pull the demolition permit myself?

Yes, if you live in the house. Metro lets an owner who occupies a single-family home get a "self permit" and take responsibility for meeting the codes. Email the application with a site plan, plus a notarized Affidavit of Exemption and Self Permit Affidavit, to the Zoning Help Desk.

Can I haul the debris myself?

A small load, yes. The Omohundro Convenience Center takes do-it-yourself demolition debris from Davidson County residents for $20, up to 2 cubic yards, but its not-accepted list includes roofing shingles, siding, posts and concrete. For a full shed, Metro points to the Central Pike landfill in Hermitage, which takes lumber and shingles; call 615-573-8004 for rates.

Where does a broken-up slab go?

American Farms at 2132 Smith Springs Rd takes concrete, concrete with rebar, brick, block, rock and gravel, according to Metro's drop-off list. It doesn't post dump fees online, so call 615-573-0293 first.

Where can a metal shed go?

Metro's convenience centers take one bulk scrap metal item or three bags of scrap metal free, and aluminum siding and poles are on the list. For a bigger load, Metro's recycler list shows PSC Metals at 710 S 1st St accepting all metals; call (615) 734-0471.

What if the shed has power?

Electrical work needs its own trade permit. Metro says a licensed subcontractor gets it after the building permit is issued. Metro's electrical code ties permits to installing wiring and doesn't spell out removal, so ask Codes at 615-862-6500 how to close off a shed circuit.

Which crews take the shed apart?

Junk Busters says it dismantles sheds from the top down, removes the floor and hauls everything, anchors and blocks included. Wallaby Land Works tears out sheds and slabs and grades the site. Rodeo takes the shed down, loads it and rakes the area. College HUNKS lists storage sheds among items it hauls but doesn't describe teardown.
