SHED REMOVAL IN DALLAS

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Dallas shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Dallas requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Dallas ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Dallas asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Dallas rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes, if the shed is 120 sq ft or larger. Dallas code exempts demolition only for structures under 120 sq ft. The permit costs $205 plus 2.1 cents per square foot.

City pickup

No. Brush and bulky pickup refuses building materials and shingles. Sanitation's paid Cost Plus service will collect lumber and roofing; call 311 for a free estimate.

Haul it yourself

McCommas Bluff Landfill (City of Dallas). Free for Dallas residents hauling their own waste in a car, pickup or trailer under 15 feet, with a license showing a Dallas address or a current Dallas water bill. Commercial gate rate $45.78 a ton from Oct. 1, 2026, plus $2 a ton environmental and $2 a ton processing fees. Uncovered loads: $40.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: JM Junk Removers publishes $1.75 to $2.25 per cubic foot of shed. Junk Quest starts at $120, and LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559. Others price by truck space or quote the job.

Do I need a permit?Dallas demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

The 120-square-foot demolition line

Dallas City Code Chapter 52 requires a permit to remove or demolish a structure. Its list of demolitions that need no permit includes a structure with a total floor area under 120 square feet. Note the gap: building a one-story storage shed up to 200 square feet needs no permit, but tearing down one of 120 square feet or more does. A 10x12 shed is exactly 120 square feet, so it needs a permit. The fee is $205 plus $0.021 per square foot. Call Planning & Development at (214) 948-4480.

02

What the demolition application asks for

Dallas's checklist asks for a signed hold-harmless agreement, proof of a contract with a franchised solid waste hauler, a tree survey for protected trees within 50 feet, and a statement that utilities will be disconnected first. The owner signs a notarized authorization and lists the disposal site and haul route. Insurance is not required for demolishing one- or two-family dwellings; the checklist doesn't say how that applies to a shed, so ask.

04

Wiring and digging

Dallas requires electrical permits unless Chapter 52 exempts the work, and electrical work must be done by a licensed electrician unless a homeowner satisfies the chief electrical inspector. Before digging out posts or piers, Texas law requires an 811 request at least two business days ahead.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Dallas pick up shed debris?

Not in regular brush and bulky pickup. It excludes building materials, bricks, concrete, items with protruding nails, and roofing or shingles, and says contractor-project waste should be removed by the contractor. Banned items are generally still collected, but the household is billed $60 per 5 cubic yards and can be cited. Sanitation's paid Cost Plus service does collect lumber and roofing materials, but not bricks or concrete. Call 311 for a free estimate.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

What else should I know in Dallas?Local notes, and the photos that set the price.

Highland Park and University Park have their own permit offices

Both towns sit inside Dallas but are separate cities, so Dallas's 120-square-foot rule doesn't apply there. In University Park, call Community Development at 214-987-5411 before tearing down a shed. Check your water or tax bill if you're not sure which city you're in.

A metal shed can go to a transfer station free

All three city transfer stations list scrap metal, and Dallas residents hauling their own waste in a car, pickup or trailer under 15 feet pay nothing. Bring a driver's license with a Dallas address or a current Dallas water bill.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

What will it cost? How shed removal is priced, and what other local companies publish.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

Can I haul the lumber to the city landfill myself?

Probably, but confirm first. McCommas Bluff and the transfer stations are free for Dallas residents hauling their own waste in a car, pickup or trailer under 15 feet. Their posted lists name household waste, furniture and scrap metal, not lumber or shingles. Call McCommas Bluff at (214) 670-0977, and cover the load to avoid the $40 fee.

Do I need to deal with rodents and wasps first?

If your shed needs a permit, yes. The owner's authorization on Dallas's demolition application certifies that the site was treated for rodents and insects 30 days before demolition. Plan the pest treatment a month ahead of the teardown date.

Who tears the shed down, and who just hauls it?

JM Junk Removers, Junk Quest, JUSTJUNK, Mean Green, Junk North DFW and Hud's Haul Away advertise teardown. LoadUp says light disassembly may be needed. College HUNKS lists storage sheds among items it hauls but doesn't describe teardown, so ask.

What about the concrete pad?

Junk Quest says it can remove the shed and its concrete foundation. JM Junk Removers says leaving a slab in place keeps the price down. City pickup and Cost Plus both refuse concrete, so the slab goes with the crew or to a place that takes it.

Will the crew handle the permit?

Don't assume it. No listed company says it pulls Dallas demolition permits. Junk Quest's page says small sheds rarely need one, but in Dallas the line is 120 square feet. The application needs a franchised hauler contract and a notarized owner signature, so settle who files it before you book.

The shed has power. Who disconnects it?

Junk Quest says it disconnects basic wiring and brings in a licensed electrician for complex wiring. JM Junk Removers says disconnecting electricity may add cost. For anything past a simple cord, hire a licensed electrician.
