SHED REMOVAL IN PLANO

We take it down.
We haul it away.

How it works ↗

Shed removal is all we do. Wood, metal or resin, falling apart or still standing, we take your Plano shed apart and leave the space clean.

  • Taking the shed apart: roof, walls, doors and floor
  • The stuff inside, if you want it gone too
  • Loading, haul-away and disposal, with metal and clean wood recycled where it’s accepted
  • The slab, gravel pad or footings, if you want them out
  • Sweeping and raking the spot clean

We check what Plano requires for your shed before any work starts, and any power to the shed must be disconnected by a licensed electrician before removal day. The local rules are below.

01

Send a photo.

Show us the shed and the way out, and add your Plano ZIP code. No payment, and it isn’t a booking.

02

Get our price.

We look at your photos and send our price, what it includes and the dates we have.

03

We haul it away.

We confirm a date, take the shed down, load every piece and leave the spot clean.

PERMITS & DIY DISPOSAL

Doing it yourself, or just checking the rules?

Here’s what Plano asks for before a shed comes down, what city pickup will take, and where you can drop off the debris yourself.

Plano rules at a glance

Demolition permit

Yes, if the shed is over 120 sq ft. Plano exempts one-story detached accessory structures up to 120 sq ft from permits. A residential demolition permit costs $100.

City pickup

No. Plano's bulky and special paid collections both refuse "buildings, building attachments or sheds," plus shingles and concrete.

Haul it yourself

Custer Road Transfer Station (NTMWD). $80 a ton, one-ton minimum, plus sales tax; $150 extra for loads with roofing shingles. Cards or a commercial account only; no cash or checks. Residents of member cities get two free drop-offs a month for household waste, which excludes remodeling waste.

What it costs

Shed Gone: a price from your photos, with teardown, haul-away and cleanup included.

Others here: LoadUp shows $94 to $1,559, JM Junk Removers charges $1.75 to $2.25 per cubic foot of shed, and Junk Quest starts at $120. Others price by truck space or quote.

Do I need a permit?Plano demolition rules, utilities and property checks.

The requirements depend on the structure, the work and the property’s jurisdiction. These are the official starting points for checking your job. Confirm with the building office before teardown day. How shed demolition permits work ↗

01

The 120-square-foot line

Plano's 2024 residential code amendments (Ordinance 2025-6-15) rewrite the work-exempt list so that one-story detached accessory structures up to 120 square feet need no permit. The city's accessory building handout repeats the 120 sq ft line. Neither says whether the exemption covers tearing a shed down, so a 10x12 (120 sq ft) is the edge case: call Building Inspections at 972-941-7140 before you book.

04

Digging out posts or piers

Texas law requires an 811 request at least two business days before you dig, which covers pulling concrete piers or anchors.

Can I dispose of it myself?City pickup rules, drop-off options and fees for shed debris.

Will Plano pick up shed debris?

No. Plano's list of items not accepted through bulky waste or special paid collection names buildings, building attachments or sheds, along with bricks and concrete and roofing material and shingles. Wood is accepted in bulky pickup only when cut to 6 x 4 feet and stacked no higher than 4 feet, but that doesn't reopen the door for a shed. Waste from a project that uses a contractor must be hauled by the contractor or a permitted hauler.

Drop-off and recycling options

If you’d rather haul it yourself, sort the load first: clean wood, metal, roofing, concrete and household contents often go to different places or cost different amounts. Call ahead before hiring a trailer. What can be recycled ↗

Historic properties get a 30-day review

Plano's residential code lets the city hold a demolition permit for up to 30 days while the Heritage Commission reviews any building or structure listed in the Plano Historic Building and Site Survey. Check with Building Inspections (972-941-7140) if your property is on the survey.

Parkway Transfer Station is closed this fall

NTMWD is closing the Parkway Transfer Station from Monday, Oct. 12 through Sunday, Nov. 1 for construction and paving. It reopens Nov. 2 only for member-city residents' free drop-offs, with full reopening to all customers expected Nov. 16. Until then, take shed debris to Custer Road or Lookout Drive.

Photos that explain the job.

  • The whole shed, with the roof, doors and rough dimensions
  • What it sits on: slab, gravel, pavers, skids or blocks
  • The route out: gates, steps, slopes and the narrowest gap
  • Anything stored inside, and any wiring, lights or a water line

Tell us whether the shed has power. A licensed electrician should disconnect and make the circuit safe before teardown. Say which items stay, and whether the slab or footings go too.

Shed Gone

Priced from your photos

A small empty resin shed and a large timber shed on a concrete slab are different jobs, so we don’t publish one number. The price depends on the shed’s size and material, what’s inside, what it sits on, and the route from the shed to the truck.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few more answers.

Can I use my free transfer station visits for shed debris?

Mostly no. Plano residents get two free drop-offs per utility billing cycle, but remodeling waste, including wood, isn't allowed under the free program. Shingles, concrete and fence panels are allowed only if they make up 10% or less of the load. Otherwise you pay the gate rate.

What does it cost to haul a shed load myself?

NTMWD transfer stations charge $80 a ton with a one-ton minimum, plus sales tax, and add a $150 surcharge if the load contains shingles. They take cards or a commercial account only, no cash or checks. The 121 landfill in Melissa charges $52 a ton, also with a one-ton minimum.

Do I need an asbestos survey for an old shed?

Texas DSHS says one private residence is not subject to the federal asbestos rules, and no notice is required. Old cement-board siding or roof panels still deserve care; ask the crew how they handle them.

Who takes the slab?

Junk Quest says it can remove the shed and its concrete foundation. JM Junk Removers says leaving the slab keeps the price down. Plano pickup refuses concrete, so a broken-up slab goes with the crew or to the NTMWD landfill.

Does the company or the homeowner pull the permit?

None of the listed companies says it pulls Plano demolition permits. A registered contractor can apply, or you can apply yourself as the homeowner. Settle who files and who pays the $100 before you book.
